MM's mother worked in a factory that was a former Vought lab. Vought didn't clean up when they left and the serum that makes supers got into her system. MM and his brother are born super, but is brother is also born retarded. MM gets sick and starts dying if he doesn't get milk from his mother regularly (hence his name, Mother's Milk). MM eventual manifests super strength, but still needs milk to live. MM's brother's power manifest suddenly and it makes his grow uncontrollably, but he was wearing his tard helmet at the time and it crushes his skull.

MM's father dies of a stress induced heart attack trying to sue Vought. MM's mother goes depressive and slowly grows into a Jabba the Hutt monster. MM occasionally goes back to her to get more milk.

The "villains" of this show aren't meticulous enough. You need to go full on Lex Luthor to defeat a guy like Homelander.

Considering the Compound V shit that's going on, there must be a way to create an anti-compound, which I'm sure we'll see in the next seasons. I know there's comics but I haven't read them.

Yeah the hero business is fucking complicated and it's hard to draw clear lines between good and evil. IMO it's sort of the thing that keeps Vought running in the first place, that even if their heroes can be horrible people, they do enough good for all of that to get swept under the rug as far as the public is concerned.

Well, that's because it was mainline DC and had cameos from a ton of DC characters, so Ennis had to restrain himself. Same thing happened with Marvel Knights Punisher, but he still managed to squeeze in a ton of outrageous shit in both, like Bueno Excellente raping green lantern or detective Soap fucking his mom without knowing.
But then he was given free rein in Punisher MAX and it's probably his finest work to date, probably because he treated it as a war comic. He can write subdued and restrained stuff and be great, he just chooses not to. I think Preacher was so great because it was a healthy mix of both, even if it meanders around the middle.
His biggest strength IMO are the secondary characters he comes up with, full of idiosyncrasies and personality, and often you grow more attached to them than his self-insert, mary-sue protagonists.
