I love hard sci-fi
I bet you love hard cock too
>tfw its my most anticipated film of the year
>will barely make $100m at the BO while capeshit regularly makes $1bn
>studios will continue to churn out capeshit for the rest of eternity while original sci-fi is getting rarer and rarer
Only on qt traps and big booty Brazilian trannies
Saw this in Venice. It's very divisive here. I talked to some people who thought it was boring and nonsensical. It will be divisive as hell. Definitely not for mainstream audiences. It will be funny to watch responses to this. Anyways i liked it. It takes a huge swing and misses but it's still ambitious as fuck and the most non mainstream big budget film i have seen. 8/10, so far the best of the festival.
>original sci-fi is getting rarer and rarer
sci fi is getting oversaturated as fuck recently m8. There was Annihilation last year and another with Hershlag is coming out in like a month.
is it cerebral sci-fi (i.e. hints at extraterrestrial intelligence, God, the paranormal, time-travel etc)?
>sci-fi is oversaturated because one film in a whole genre came out last year and now there's another one coming out this year
imagine actually thinking that constitutes oversaturation. literally kys you stupid fucking capeshitter cunt
I'm excited for this but I wish Josh Hartnett got to play the son of Tommy Lee Jones one time.
and btw, that kike's latest film is some garbage romantic film and isn't even sci-fi except for the fact she used to be an astronaut
I don't understand what the film is about from that trailer
>brad pitt
>pretentious space film
snooze
why should I even bother?
>sci fi is getting oversaturated as fuck recently m8.
no it isn't you retard, as that other user said the studios just don't take risks with scifi any more, audiences are more interested in capeshit and reboots and sequels than original scifi
What makes you think annihilation was even science fiction
It's hard sci fi i would say. No aliens. Tries to portray the space travel in a realistic way. But it's also kind of meditative and philosophical.
lolwut. when was the last space sci-fi film? interstellar? that was literally 5 years ago
should have made it about a capeshit character that fits the narrative, like they did with Joker
>hard sci-fi
hmm interesting, someone in another thread said that radio waves from earth hadn't yet reached nepture or something similar, like the film operated on different physics from reality. the trailer also says TLJ was looking for extraterrestrial life, is that part of the plot?
what are fuck you smoking user? literally the dumbest post i've seen on this board in a while
>0:55 seconds into trailer
>he just falls straight down like he's on earth
>"hard science"
nah
this, they should've got robert redford for the father
>one film in a whole genre came out last year
Along with High Life and Prospect
>as that other user said the studios just don't take risks with scifi any more
Compared to when? There's literally a big budget Dune movie coming out soon and you've got Kojima's Death Stranding in a fucking month which is basically an auteur sci fi movie.
Isn't that because there explosion pushed him back?
What would an explosion do to a person in space?
He's on a very tall tower so he would fall straight down
Read the 2016 script
No aliens at all,he finds his fathers shop empty.Has a few inner revelations and heads back to earth
I don't remember anything about radio waves. The film seemed pretty realistic to me. TLJ was tasked with constructing a telescope to look for extraterrestrial life. Then power surge from Neptune destroys the tower or whatever it was that Pitt's character was working on.
>The film seemed pretty realistic to me
>Then power surge from Neptune destroys the tower
The script was changed to the final film from what i know. Was there a narration in the script? In the film there is a narration by Pitt. Also did you like the script?
is the plot twist that matt damon is really his dad?
His father is experimenting with anti matter and they are doing something with it. That would be a big spoiler.
the plot twist is you got memed into watching this forgettable film
no, bruce lee
That's kind of worrying. The film looked great in a way that would piss off most glorified bloggers. If they're all loving it then it's probably bottom-of-the-barrel trash
Lost City of Z was kino as fuck. For some reason, I feel like this won't be as good.
Why is no one else noticing that the premise is a spiritual sequel btw?
Look at letterboxd. It's divisive there.
It's better than Lost City of Z imo. The father son relationship and exploration is there like in Lost City of Z.
there's like 2 reviews on letterboxd
Decent trailer and only one nigger shown, I'm interested.
her name is NEGGA
the director talked about it like it was Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now in space, that people on the moon are going mad or some shit, is that true?
And that's a good thing!
More like 50.
Yes, the Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now influence is very clear. People are on the moon and Mars yes. There are moon pirates.
that's a great trailer, the first trailer they released made it look like a generic action film in space
I see Liv Tyler still has a monopoly on the “astronomer’s gf” roles.
cool thanks. did you see Joker yet at venice?
There have been so many space movies this decade
what did they mean by this?
is space tourism coming soon futurologists have been piping up about it recently saying it's happening within 50 years
zzzzzZZZZZZZZZ
Spacefags literally seething
yes there is
still the sister stuff at the end?
yes as i read the names in the script i checked imdb and saw the changes but i can kind of guess what was changed (add the wife n shit)
No problem. Joker plays tomorrow. So far i have seen.
The Truth - decent
The Perfect Candidate - bad
Pelican Blood - bad
Marriage Story - alright
Ad Astra - very good
J'Accuse - good
>Apocalypse Now in space
yawn
NOOOOOOOOO
IMPOSSIBRU
Based Pitt dabbing on Asians once more. Why can't they travel space if they're so smart?
>NOOOO where's the evil CGI bad guy who wants to terraform/destroy/enslave earth
Reminder this board is just full of fucking redditors and other NPCs who actually give a shit about awards and critics and other assorted garbage and numale garbage while simultaneously claiming otherwise.
>ad astra
>joker
haven't been to the kinoplex since br2049 but i will be taking two trips in the next 2 months
>Apocalypse Now
Yawn
>Apocalypse Now in space
are you serious or just memeing?
if serious I might check this out after all
I think only serious critics have seen it yet
The wife is there for a very short period of time.
I don't remember any sister stuff.
Not really. Even less serious and some local critics can get press accreditation in Venice.
looks good
Honestly, most sci-fi is obsolete right now and derivative of older, superior work. A sci-fi renaissance is long overdue on the big stage.
There is a scene where he beats up Jet Li. Jamie Kennedy is in the movie and there is a reference to Son of the Mask.
