Here's your 60 year old Spartan king, bro

>googled "Sparta" after watching 300
>mfw it was actually real
Oh yes, the inaccurate documentary "300".
>movie is literally told by a Spartan soldier
>story is Spartan propaganda
>enemies are monsters
The movie is just a straight forward commentary about the propaganda surrounding the irak war. But Zack doesn't go for satire, he thinks heroism and noble shit in said propaganda is still worth doing in a sincere way. Zack doesn't give a fuck if the movie ends up being inspirational for white trash to join the army, he just admires and FORM and the history of sacrifice beyond how real it really was. Zack made everything look even more oniric than in Miller's comic. Anyone who takes the movie seriously, either as pro-war or anti-war is an absolute retard.
>t. amerilard
us eurochads all look like that well into our 60's due to healthy diet and lifestyle
what propaganda? the entire gulf, desert storm and iraq wars faced huge public outcry and constant scandals from laser guided missiles killing civilians in hideouts and big lies by governments over the circumstances.
>Spartan King
And what of the good Demaratus?
>Demaratus, or Demaratos (Greek: Δημάρατος), was a king of Sparta from around 510 until 491 BC, 15th of the Eurypontid line, successor to his father Ariston. As king, he is known chiefly for his opposition to the other, co-ruling Spartan king, Cleomenes I. He later migrated to Achaemenid Persia where he was given asylum and land, and fought on the Persian side during the Second Persian invasion of Greece.
what's strange is they somehow made it about democracy vs tyranny when the spartans literally hated democracy and had 20 slaves per spartan
Very strange.
The Persians actually encouraged democracy among the Greeks because a democratic government was easier to influence than an aristocracy or monarchy.
>thinking this much into a Snyder flick
That was Miller, but remember that back in the day "america was bringing DEMOCRACY and FREEDOM" to the world, especially those who israel doesn't like.
heres your 90 year old dunedian king bro
Was leonidas wife HELOTED?
1. 80 years old
2. its dunedain
3. its quite normal for a race which lives up to 200 to look middle aged at 80
lol what? Americans keep thanking their soldiers for their service, apparently "defending their country" by killing people actually defending theirs. I'm sure the average burger still think Saddam was going to bomb the US or some retarded shit.
The fuck are you talking about? The Persians actively supported the Spartans over the Athenians in the Peloponnesian war.
He was 87 at the start of the journey, 88 in that picture.
He probably believes propaganda can only be "liberal" and if hollywood actors are against war it means there's no pro-war propaganda.
Slaves and democracy can coexist (the athenians also had slaves). Even though Sparta was a monarchy, it was much more complex. They had two kings who didn't do much more than leading military campaigns. The law was written by a council called the Ephors. Before a law could be passed, it was presented to the citizenry and could be vetoed if it lacked popular support. Furthermore there was a Gerousia (large council) who oversaw both the Kings and the Ephors. If a king abused his power, he could be prosecuted by the Gerousia. So it was far from an absolute monarchy. Most of the athenians hatred towards Sparta didn't come from the fact that they had kings, but the fact that women in Sparta made up a large portion of the aristocracy (women were no better than slaves in Athens). This was outrageous to the extremely patriarchal society in Athens
thanks bro
I unironically love this film. It's homoerotic dumb shock, it's unapologetic about it and it's visually gorgeous.
>a race which lives up to 200 to look middle aged at 80
It's literally just humans
