It depends on what you are doing. The problem is the budget limitations. Instead of using CGI to the fullest but rather sparingly, and in combination with real life practical effects (think Fury Road), they just spam it into nearly every scene.
I am a 3D artist and i am quite shocked how floaty these Terminator look in the scene when they come out of the water. There is no weight and it looks like keyframe animation, not motion capture.
It's not the fault of the CGI, its how they used it.
Rather than doing 100 good effects they flood the movie with 300 mediocre effects because doing it properly takes more time/money and effort.

But if Connor is dead, he can't send Kyle Reese from the future. The whole theme of Terminator is that the machines created themselves by sending a terminator back in time, but the consequence of that was the creation of Connor, who eventually destroys them.

They purposely left this gaping plot hole in order to inject a woman hero. Fuck this movie.

I wrote this yesterday in another Terminator thread: we have real robots now that can walk, why not use them for movie making?
Blowing up/shooting real robots with real ammunition would look much better.
Not all studios can deliver the same quality. Alita was done by Weta and Dark Fate probably used 20 studios spread all over the world.
These studio's sometimes battle over who gets the better VFX studio because these studios don't have the capacity to serve all of these capeshit movies.
That's why some Marvel movies have so terrible VFX and the quality is changing from scene to scene or movie to movie.
Think Black Panther....the last fight looked so terrible because they ran out of time/budget, because the deadlines are super-tight calculated.
Often these studios could do much better, but they run out of time all the time.

It solves the problem of wanting to do new sequels without having to address the shitty movies at came before. It can renew interest in a franchise you would have otherwise written off as being garbage. And Halloween proved it can be successful.

Alfonso Cuaron talked about this once. Children of Men was in developing stage for a while before he came onboard. He ended up reading the book and developing his own screenplay with a writer he knows. They wrote the movie we saw on screen. But turns out that because the movie had different scripts before them and some of the things from those scripts were too similar to what happens in the movie (because it's still based on the same book), the script is credited to five people, three of which did not participate in the making of the version of the movie that was released.

It's setting up for the Terminator being smarter and understands humour when compared to his predecessor. He uses reverse psychology and lies to John in order to get what he wanted. The original Terminator or "Uncle Bob" could not do this fresh out of the factory. It's also a 12A rated movie so what do you expect? I can't believe you're oblivious to these facts.

I haven't seen a genuinely good written female character in awhile. Maybe just Alita? Because she wasn't annoying at all. But every other movie, they always have this, I don't know, "apocalyptic", "hardened" woman who doesn't need anyone, it's accompanied by their short hair, their less feminine clothing, and a tough personality that really just becomes one-dimensional after awhile .

Like I said, it's definitely a flop, because I'm pretty sure female characters COULD be strong, but they keep slapping the same obvious narrative on them. It's like that's the only thing they know to write a character. It's so unbelievable. How is that, for example, Japan is capable of writing believable female characters?
