INVISIBLE MAN Remake Synopsis Reveals Modern Feminist Take on Classic

>Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss (Us, Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale”) stars in a terrifying modern tale of obsession inspired by Universal’s classic monster character.

>Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid).

>But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

I unironically like Elizabeth Moss so I'll watch it.

>feminist
and I'm out

The plot is ok, but I think it would make more sense without the invisible man tie in, simply make it so that the ex isnt literally invisible just spying on her.

They have to shit up the Universal Mosters now too?!

THE NUTS IN MAY THE NUTS IN MAY

#believewomen

Is there anything this bitch is in that isn't feminist tripe?

I hope this is a Mummy 2017 level fail at the box office.

>Leigh Whannell

already a kino confirmed

Nah, it's got all the bits that appeal to women. They'll eat it up.

women don't go to the movies.

YAAAAAAAWN

lemmie rephrase. FEMINISTS don't go to the movies.

>convoluted horseshit
So they dusted off an old spec script and crammed an invisible man into a few scenes so people might care

>suspects his death was a hoax

youtu.be/zZcYZmsSGs0?t=88

>>But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.
This is fucking retarded.

Your telling me an invisible guy would be perving on this literal 3/10 instead of literal 10/10s

Hollywood is gay as fuck

>Elizabeth Moss

Oh, fuck no.
Hopefully this will put the final nail in the coffin of her career.

James Whale and Claude Rains are rolling in their graves. The Invisible Man is my favorite Universal Horror and for them to fuck up such a perfect movie pisses me off. The effects are mindblowing for 1933 and Griffin is such a fantastic character.

This time it is much cheaper. The main difference between Dark Universe and other similar ones was different approach to every movie. Some will be adventure blockbusters like The Mummy, some will be cheaper horrors too. The Invisible Man can't flop, even mediocre box office performance will cover very low budget of the movie.

>implying a chad like this with a mind that sharp would bother with a fridge midget like that

Attached: oliver-jackson-cohen_19553-780x405.jpg (780x405, 27K)

There is more effort and craftmanship in these 2 minutes than the entirety of most movies made today.

>In the book and original movie he decides he can use his invisibility to become the ruler of the earth
>In the remake he decides he can spook his ex-wife real gud
Lowered his sights.

If i had the power to become invisible i would rob a bank, rape a couple of celebrities and then murder anyone who ever crossed me.
Then probably commit a few more burglaries and rapes.

>You want to see who I am, is it?! I'll show you! Who I am...and WHAT I am! Why, an invisible man can rule the world. No one will see him come. No one will see him go. He can rape and rob and kill!
>But I'm not going to do any of that. Instead I'm going to creep on my ex. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And this will bomb just like the previous attempts at the Universal Monster Universe lol

Yes yes, man becomes invisible, what does he do? Stalk his ex-wife played by the beautiful Elizabeth Moss

No man would hide in Mammarios bedroom or anything

You Can tell a woman has written this screenplay

>Also in the book and original movie he goes insane once he's invisible because madness was an almost unknown side-effect of one of the obscure chemicals he was using
>In the remake he's just a crazy, toxic, white male

Fucking hate that slack jawed cow

An invisible man can basically have sex with any woman he wants with impunity, why would he choose the worlds ugliest actress

>This is day one of year one of the new epoch -the Epoch of the Invisible Man. I am Invisible Man the First.
Never ever. Fuck you pedowood.

While we're on the topic, who's your favorite Universal Monster and why?

Attached: classic_universal_monsters.png (565x619, 570K)

The Bro from the Black Lagoon

>Be invisible
>Literally have the chance to spend everyday sniffing and squeezing the finest female brappers

>LOL no go stalk your ugly ex wife

Nigga wut

your mom

>But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. That's actually kind of an interesting premise. I'm sure Hollywood will fuck it up though particularly if they take the increasingly played out feminist kvetching route.

Not feminist in any way, it's a media bait. You will love Adrian Griffin, he's going to be fucking psycho.

The movie won't touch Whale's 1933 film. It's inspired by the novel. In the original movie Rains slowly loses his mind, Griffin in the novel was a psycho since the vey begining.

The movie is set in San Francisco (but filmed in Australia - they brought police car replica, I'll show) and I think this scene is supposed to be something like bank robbing but don't quote me on that.

Tier one: Dracula, Invisible Man
Tier two: Frankenstein, bride, wolfman
Tier three: Phantom, Creature
They are all good though

they've already been shitting on them for years

It's amazing how much more agreeable women become toward unattractive actresses.
Women in the UK love Sarah Millican.

Gillman is a cute

>Movie about abusive relationships
>"Feminist crap!"

Only here. Just switch the genders and this would be Yea Forums-approved

Said police car. I think SFPD means San Francisco but I'm not familar with your american police forces. Is this painting correct?

Dracula will always be the GOAT. One of the best books I've ever read.

Sorry forgot picture.

It's a movie about invisibility actually brainlet

They also brought american taxi cab.

>Durr what is a metaphorrrr

The Invisible man is just a class act.
youtube.com/watch?v=KXMOURHEMpY

Why is she inheriting his fortune if she's his ex?

It's a mystery obviously

Griffin was not a psycho from the beginning in the novel. He went insane while invisible.

This is a pre-production prototype of a new camera. The Invisible Man will be the 1st movie to use it. Director says that they are the best choice for "demanding VFX" whatever it means. He says that effect will "blow your fucking minds".

Attached: ECH-OOqUEAAKPcJ.jpg (1200x900, 193K)

>go stalk your ugly ex wife
That's the best part, instead of just killing her or even better, come to spooky the bitch from time to time while raping his way into the world, the invisible cuck spends all his days naked in the coach being spoopy to one miserable Elizabeth Moss. Go make flying saucer videos or something, ffs
>tfw you will never see a movie where invisble bro and the boys go on being spooky for fun

Attached: angry skelly bro.jpg (690x320, 26K)

Everything. They'll probably make a Conan the Barbarian remake where the Chinese witch throws him in the fireplace when he's done boning her.

Goddammit pffhaaaa

Last pic, that's all. These cars had "California" licence plates.

Attached: ECH-OOqUIAAORC9.jpg (1200x900, 221K)

>storm reid
Let me guess, she's black

Untrue. Women go ALONG to movies

>Just switch the genders and this would be Yea Forums-approved
>Implying women need super powers to destroy the ex-husband
user, irl there is no monster like a ex-wife. Trust me.

I'd wish I was invisible if my Ex was Elizabeth Moss

They make their boyfriends take them to movies like this, or go as a group.

>girl power with invisible evil boyfriend
So it's a hollowman remake?

Wasn't he the only one who got some poon

That's not what I was implying at all, you fucking retard. Also, >implications

Frankenstein, excellent taste in lolis

James Whale was a genius.

I can't remember, but he was always a walking boner. Tried to get the girl in 1 and 2, maybe he got some in 3. Third time a charm.

Crossover when?

If I became invisible I would pretend to be a ghost.

I love the original too much to give a shit about a remake.
The whole reason the original was so great was because it was a really great "One man vs. The World" story. The protagonist was essentially everyone banning together against an enemy with the power to destroy civilization. Guaranteed the remake won't have great moments like a bunch of officers coming together and spitballing ways to track the Invisible Man.

It's written by a woman, logic goes out of the window.

>>tfw you will never see a movie where invisble bro and the boys go on being spooky for fun

this is the kind of movies they should be making. id pay to see this in theater and not pirate it. fuck sjw feminist shit

>He didn't know about Tom Cruise's Mummy

>INVISIBLE MAN Remake Synopsis Reveals Modern Feminist Take on Classic
Do you remember "feminist take" on the mummy too? Yet somehow feminists didn't defend that movie so much.

screenrant.com/sofia-boutella-mummy-2017-ahmanet-feminism/

Don't worry, The Invisible Man won't be feminist bullshit too. I hope it's fucking brutal, directed by the same guy who wrote Saw. Maybe we will see that Elisabeth Moss killed too.

Yea Forums could write a more interesting script than this bullshit.

Man I'd sneak into Area 51 and all sorts of shit

I second this list

>Dragging the invisible man through the mud for you writing 101 metaphor

I don't go to watch the invisible man for brutality though, I go to watch him for his insane mindset. That's what makes him interesting. The dude thinks to himself "I'm a god, I can conquer the world!!!" and then goes and tries to do it. That kind of craziness makes a good villain. Not "I'm going to stalk my ex-girlfriend, but now I'm invisible tee-hee!".

Jesus christ I hate this bitch's stupid ugly face. I'm beginning to think she's probably just as insufferable as the characters she plays.

Also the blatant just fucking with people.

Gaslighting as a supernatural horror film could actually be pretty Kino. The premise is pretty neat. However, casting ugly, talentless women and having her white knight friend be a nigger doesn’t inspire much confidence. Never saw Upgrade or Insidious 3, how’s this Director?

So he can torment her and drive her nuts using the old haunted house shtick.

The plot is Unironically this, LOL. stupid movie men, why didnt they just believe her and suspect he was simply invisible???? This is retarded.

The Invisible Man has always been my favorite Universal Monster. I'd probably go around taking random shits in public if I were invisible.

No bitch wants to go see Invisible Man.

Except that Ahmanet was a feminist but not a feminazi. She wanted equal rights, she wanted to be Pharaoh too just like that real one, Hatchepsut or whatever. After that, she wanted to give Tom Cruise equal powers too so they could rule the world together. She was the definition of feminist.

Meanwhile this sounds like feminazi kind of movie: "All Men are bad hurrrrr". It would be funny to see this marketed as feminist movie only to see him killing that bitch at the end. Subverted!

It's not the Invisible Hindu.

Feminism is about destroying the white family. Many prominent feminists have outright admitted this.

Why do they keep casting this goblin?

>Modern Feminist Take
Day 1 ignore

Why have women become the target audience for Universal Monsters? It doesn't make any sense. They really don't know what they're doing anymore.

>She wanted equal rights
>She was the definition of feminist
Name one (1) right that Western women don’t have that men do. When you determine you can’t, never parrot this inane meme again

I don't think this one will be connected but Russell Crowe and Annabelle Wallis are frequently seen with Jason Blum. Javier and Boutella are still interested in monster movies. Who knows, we have to wait and see.

She was egyptian and women in middle-east never had equal rights. No point to talk about Western women when it's about ancient princess denied the throne just because pharaoh had a son.

>blow your mind

He's literally just invisible

When a certain group has historically targeted a civilization for subversion and destruction, they've at some point just decided that they've won and thrown caution to the wind, despite the fact that this has fucked them numerous times. This is that. They think they've got this in the bag so they don't care anymore.

honestly possibly. Could be big pay check and meddled by a big studio. Im eager though

The Invisible Woman
>invisibility experiment
>science lady tests it on herself
>uses invisibility to spy on the patriarchy
>discover once men are alone they turn into vampires
>secret handshakes
>gang rapes
>free money
>like in that Eddie Murphy SNL skit

okay now I need a second and third act

Attached: 1360203292227.jpg (460x276, 25K)

Women in ancient Egypt were respected and had a lot of rights unlike in other arabic countries. You can name at least few important queens such as Hatshepsut, Nefertiti or Cleopatra. The best example is Ramesses II (the Great) who has never really recovered from the loss of his beloved Nefertari and mourned her during his entire reign. He also ordered to build few temples and munuments dediceted to her.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertari#Monuments

>Making the Invisible Man a feminist parable about believing women
>When the original Invisible Man said he would be completely equal in terms of his victims
It’s like they didn’t research thing.

Attached: 93FD9496-B9C5-4640-A791-4EB2BC6C82DF.gif (500x363, 711K)

Wolfman is my favorite, but they’re all great.

Royalty, isn't everyone. Women in egypt were absolutely forced to be subservient to males. Slightly more equal but still undermined and brushed aside isn't rights and equality

You're an idiot

exactly
just watch the claude raines version 40 times and you'll be happy

"I was PC before it was cool"

> be literally THE most prigiledged class of people ever to exist [modern western white women]
> write stories about being oppressed by men
> buy into the narrative as if it applies to real life
> get off on the comfortable fantasy of being the victim

can we stop the ride

I just can’t buy her as anyone’s love interest, she looks like a gargoyle and has that weird boxy body. “Feminist take” means the film will be shit in any case.

ride never ends, we should slap some sense or they will bring men that will do that. Its ultimate shit test.

Nice.

Attached: invisible man leak brapper.png (455x1260, 707K)

If this shit saves dark universe (regardless of the name they use) and we get proper Dracula or Frankenstein in the future then im fine.

It wont, sjw arent enough to profit off.

This actually sounds like it could be decent. Kinda a different take on the hollow man. Instead of invisible man losing it cause hes invisible, he loses it cause his oneitis left and wants pay back.
Don't get me wrong, itll probably suck and be completely focused on
>le he beat me im sad and stuff, am I crazy or is he?
But it could be an ok movie if they do it right
Probably wont top the hollow man though

It's mostly about the budget. The Mummy made fucking 400M which is a lot, in fact it's one of the highest grossing movies of this kind (grim action adventure) but it didn't need 150M budget. If it was made for like 90M it would be successful enough to get Dark Universe going. Look at Resident Evil and Underworld movies. They cost half of that so grossing 250-300m is enough to make them profitable. And yeah, they are also critically panned all the time.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
While the plot sounds like a decent psychological horror story, I'm still concerned that it might be as shitty as The Mummy.

It will be probably like mummy with all action scenes removed. Also instead of mummy stalking the guy and making him go insane, we will have invisible man stalking the girl and making her go insane.

I want an actual adaptation of the book.

>that empty feeling at the end of the novel when he becomes visible again

Attached: the_invisible_man_by_fo3the13th.png (1000x1278, 2M)

BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO

>Griffin was not a psycho from the beginning in the novel. He went insane while invisible.
This. Having him start out as an abusive asshole misses an entire point of the novel.

They make their boyfriends take them to chick flicks. Only lowly shrews would be interested in this and they aren't even going.

He was already sort of insane even before becoming invisible. Robs his father, leading to his suicide.then experiments on neightbours' cat. Invisiblity gave him an extra push but he was a maniac before.

Does that mean Dark Cinematic Universe is coming back?

Seems like. They said they don't want to rush and that next movies will be more self-contained stories but crossovers are not ruled out.

Sounds shit.

In the Bacon remake he was a creepy rapist.

It's sad when you already know another franchise is dead in the water before you've seen a trailer. Shame because the original was kino.

how the fuck was he going to rule the world with invisibility

he was insane, invisiblity made him think he's god. but couldnt avoid bullets, cops shot him dead because they saw his footprints on snow

>I go to watch him for his insane mindset.

You don't think it's insane to go out of your way to fake your death to hunt down and stalk your ex in the middle of nowhere as an invisible guy?

That doesn't sound like an Invisible Man remake. That sounds like Sleeping with the Enemy remake

It's actually a good modern twist on an old, overdone story but leave it to Yea Forums whine about it because it has a woman POV

i wouldnt say it's overdone story
apart from original universal monsters and hollow man this wasn't used so much. even hammer didnt remake invisible man like the rest of uni monsters

When Abbot and Costello make a boxing movie with the invisible man gimmick, it's overdone. The entire gimmick is just being invisible and that in itself hasn't been very interesting for almost twenty years without having to make it be highly sexual in subtext.

Finally some news from Dark Universal. How does this guy sound like? The Invisible Man is like 80% voice acting. Johnny Depp could be perfect but I know he has issues with Amber so they had to find someone else.

I just want to watch a guy turn invisible, go insane and start fucking with people
They already made this movie 70 years ago with Claude Rain, how do you fuck this up

>

>Invisible Man movie isn't actually about an Invisible Man

I was halfway through the summary when I honestly thought the woman would inherit his money and research and would turn invisible herself.

This. It seems to be more focused on a crazy scientologist than our titular monster. Just like the mummy two years ago.

Based Hollow Man, on the other hand, used his power to fuck prime Rhona Mitra.

>here's your 'jekyll/hyde' (or whatever he's called now) bro

I mean he's not Jekyll/Hyde but probably the same role. A cop tracking invisible man.

1933 is the best one

No I don't want to watch an Elisabeth "My acting range consists of various forms of resting bitch face" Moss vehicle movie that has "the invisible man" stamped to it. Fuck you hollywood make an original film for once and suck my dick

>movie becomes popular with men online

James Whale version. Everything else pale in comparison.
