Series 9 starts on wednesday

My knowledge of British comedy is largely limited to Taskmaster. Are those people funny?
Baddiel is funny
Awful show
Baddiel only slightly
Pretty disappointing line-up. Missing someone good enough to tie it all together.
to be fair, I've thought the same about the last few series but the one with James Acaster and Rhod Gilbert ended up being breddy gud
the only one who sucks is Gamble. we're going to have to hear constant jokes about diabetes from the guy on Love Island
Who is your ultimate lineup?
Bob Mortimer
Rhod Gilbert (his banter with Greg was great)
Tim Vine
Sally Phillips
Lee Mack (I really want to see him on it)
Swap Tim Vine with pic related and it's perfect
I mean, with James and Rhod it was looking pretty promising. Meanwhile the previous season and 6 were pretty shit precisely because they lacked someone to bring that punch.
I hadn't seen anything of James Acaster before TM and Rhod is one of those comedians who's either great or shit so I wasn't expecting anything
Sean Lock
Jeremy Clarkson
Jimmy Carr
Lee Mack
Matt Berry
>Sean Lock
YES
Jo Brand
Assuming a new lineup:
Lee Mack
Rob Brydon
Ellie Taylor
Dara O'Brien
Wildcard, Fiona Bruce.
That said, your lineup is great. I listed Fiona because I've loved every older woman on task taskmaster and I didn't think I would.
How many minutes into the first episode will she mention her husband?
At least Gamble seems to know Greg and toured with him. Might get some fun out of that. Can't call him the only one who sucks when Jo and Rose exist. And I only like Katy because she's cute in a British kind of way.
>And the long suffering wife of the alcoholic husband, Jo Brand!
I don't think that would work.
He just wouldn't participate in doing any of the challenges and simply lament the futility of making any effort whatsoever.
It's not a funny enough shtick to spread across more than one episode, if that
Not a big fan of Rhod in general. Apparently he hated being on Taskmaster as well, and it damaged his relationship with Greg for a while, which sucks.
Rose is OK on these shows. Jo Brand is oversaturated but she's not annoying as Gamble and why wouldn't you want to watch your grandma on this show?
Sean Lock
Bill Bailey
David Mitchell
Lee Mack
Danny Baker/Jeremy Clarkson/Arthur Smith
Where'd you hear that? I liked their banter, shame if it soured anything.
>Ellie Taylor
>Dara O'Brien
God no. Sick of seeing that mush-mouthed, garbling Irish cunt everywhere.
I quite enjoyed him on Acasters podcast, when he's not being a kooky-video game man he can be funny. Plus he had some good stories, and those make for good prize tasks.
Based QI poster
The 'didn't like being on it' is easy enough to come by. I have quite a few friends in the comedy scene in the UK, who talked a little about them being on the outs for a bit. Bear in mind that it is friend of a friend of a friend info, so probably exaggerated.
Also bear in mind that Rhod and Greg are basically no homo buddies on a normal day so 'damaged their relationship' might just mean 'They didn't talk for a week'. The specific incident that gets brought up is the hiding in the house thing.
>mush-mouthed, garbling Irish cunt
>Jo Brand
oh ffs
Older White Guy - Tommy Tiernan
Younger unknown White Guy - Dave Edwards
Token POC - Toju
Young Female - Rachel Fairburn
Older Female - Kathy Burke
Dream lineup would be
Richard Ayode
Richard Herring
Matt Berry
Sandy Toksvig
Rachel Riley
Trying to keep to at least two women, but they are seriously running short on funny women that haven't been on it. Ayode has been on the shortlist for most series apparently, but has to back out at the last minute.
That was hilarious though, shame.
>Kathy Burke
Would love this, but she has preemptively turned it down. She is a massive fan of the show, but refuses to be on it. She seems to hate the idea of going on TV at all these days.
If my best mate hung out in my closet like a creeper and then I found out on television, it might take me a week or two to find the funny side.
>Ayoade
Fuck him. He's such an insufferable unfunny cunt in live tapings. Might as well just have Mitchell himself doing the same schtick but better.
They've said in interviews that Ayoade and Dawn French are always on the shortlist.
Trud enough
Dawn French would probably be pretty good too
>Dawn French
Just realised Jennifer Saunders would be absolute kino
Karl Pilkington
Doon Mackichan
Johnny Vegas
Matt Berry
Miriam Margolyes
Bill Bailey
>Clarkson
>Matt Berry
>Jimmy Carr
>Ayoade
>Pilkington
Americunts get out. Next you're going to ask for Ricky Gervais or some other daft shit.
The only funny comedian we have left is Bob Mortimer.
>this list of british comedians/tv personalities on a british panel show is too implausible for a fantasy line up!
You are a fucking retard that doesn't know how to craft a tv panel mate.
With the exception of Matt Berry, who isn't even in the panel show cycle, they all suck and/or are terribly unfunny, entry-level panelshow "comedians".
How the fuck do you guys watch this shite?
Unfunny as fuck
It's more that most of them are shit and can't take a joke.
Karl isn't even a panel show pleb you wog.
That's my point. It's like you cunts are blind to the meme green arrows.
>With the exception of Matt Berry, who isn't even in the panel show cycle
It's fantasy you autistic mess
You need an 'entry level' comedian to get arses in seats. The reason they keep getting work is because they are the ones people want to see.
Was it autism?
NOOOO BRO you cant have him in your line up because he's not a panel show regu- oh wait he was actually on the show carry on
Did they ever explain all the Asian shit in the last season?
Clarkson's great on panelshows though.
Roy Chubby Brown
Jim Davidson
Lee Hurst
Katie Hopkins
Anne Widdecombe
I felt a little sorry for Joe, to be honest. I Think Taskmaster was his 'audition' for the panel show set, and it didn't go great. Couldn't fucking stand Iain Stirling, and I am not sure anyone else could either.
He cute
Then make the task to commit suicide in the funniest way possible.
>what is doing a character
If the final live task was 'Kill another contestant, fastest wins'...
Joe was by far the best contestant last season.
I couldn't get past the second episode, especially after the season before it had a great cast. How was it in the end?
I am fond of Lou Sanders in general, but I don't think Joe was bad. I just think he came across as a little bland.
Wasn't great. Had a couple good moments though.
desu anything is better than the Russel Howard season
Russel Howard season was just... bad. It felt like five strong bookings that just couldn't gel with each other.
It got better, but was never really amazing.
>strong bookings
The whole issue with that season was that none of them were good enough to carry even just their own part of the show, let alone cover for any weak links.
If you watch the episodes again you can tell Alex and Greg are trying harder with the banter to make up for it
Liza and Tim were entertaining but never really shone.
best season? [Y/n]
To me, it felt like five people giving 18%. 18% is a good booking for a show, usually you have a couple pulling 15%, and then one pulling up for the rest, like you say. I agree, that the problem was, no one was giving MORE.
Still better than US series
Nope
Season 5 is forever the GOAT
Bob and Sally were each good enough to carry their own series
No
For me, it's season 4.
But I unironically masturbate to Noel Fielding.
I'd say it's pretty much 1=5=7>2=3>4=8>>>>>>>
>4 that low
Why must you hurt me?
LITERALLY WHO ARE ANY OF THESE CUNTS LMAO
Do you even into comedy?
CANT UNDERSTAND
SAY AGAIN IN BRITISH PLEASE, KHALID
