Is the Prequel Trilogy *really* that bad?

Not really. It was overly at times childish, which I've always thought as continuing trend from Return of the Jedi. There's also some serious tonal whiplash about the movies as a whole.

But all said, I don't think they deserved most of the vitriol floated towards them. And I never did like how people talked about Jake Lloyd. All his failings can be pointed on Lucas who is notoriously bad actor director.

Call me whatever the fuck you want but the universe building in episode I is fantastic. In fact, Episode's I, II and III do an amazing job of giving a scale to the galaxy.

The Prequels are bad. The Sequels are worse.

Just because something worse than something else comes along, it doesn't suddenly mean that the something else is no longer bad. Terminator 3 isn't suddenly a good movie just because Salvation and Genysis were worse. Alien Resurrection isn't suddenly a good movie just because Prometheus and Covenant were worse. Predators isn't suddenly a good movie just because The Predator was worse.

The Prequels are still bad. Just not AS bad as the Sequels.

from a guy that recently fell for the Star Wars meme because of JJ Abrams (Lost was lit stfu), it's absolute dog shit. Star Wars is not really a good franchise if I'm honest. I mean I like the original trilogy in hipster kinda way because all the practical effects of the 80s were really charming and the characters were good but overall I think the series is a huge bubble waiting to burst if it hasnt already.

The only one I didn’t like growing up was clone wars and I changed my mind on that rewatching it years ago. Phantom menace has 11/10 visuals and is pretty classy all around besides the 15 minutes of jarjar, and all he is is the annoyance of the Ewoks multiplied a little. Not that bad honestly.
