But steel's heavier than flesh...
But steel's heavier than flesh
The answer to the riddle of steel is that its use depends on the man
Someone SET him up.
>scenes women don't understand
Yeah but try fucking steel
Conan eventually becomes like him in the King Conan comics anyway so he had the last laugh
The answer to the riddle of steel is to use a gun
Something like that. It's not the steel, but the arm that wields it.
>be bodybuilder, have perfect physique
>be boxer and marksman, able to defend yourself martially in all situations
>write stories which create a genre and echo through ages
>dip out at 30
why was robert e howard so based
I don' geh it
>kill yourself at 30 because your mom went in a coma
yeah "based" lol
Read Nietzsche.
It's the will to use it. How far you take your resolve.
Flesh grows weak. Steel becomes brittle. But the will is indomitable.
Because existence>essence and since steel was from the gods in the human eyes it preceeds flesh and gives flesh value so flesh is not able to give itself value on its own while steel is the value . A sword without a hand to swing it is still a sword while a hand would never be swung without holding a sword
>BUT MUH THERE WOULD BE NO REASON FOR THE SWORD TO BE THERE
Fuck you Crom made it. Steel is basically Jesus of Crom but cooler and not a faggot
Atlantis vs Lemuria
He was possessed, just like Lovecraft.
Ah know! But they're both ah kilogramme
Your mom is made of flesh but is way heavier
Aye fuck off McFee, yeh mums a cow
That doesn't prove anything
I like the contemplative nature of this movie, and the ways you can interpret the riddle of steel. Conan was both strong of flesh and wielded strong steel, but most of all it was his will that made him superior. His will is what kept him alive as pain shaped him.
What do you guys think of the wheel of pain? I wonder if it's an opposition to man forging inanimate matter into tools/weapons, as in a tool forging a man into a weapon. Weak flesh breaks, but strong willed flesh is elevated through pain and conflict. While sedentary Cimmerians became weak and got slaughtered, Conan became a being of strong flesh, wielding strong steel and was guided by his indomitable will.
I need to watch the movie again, it's been too long.
I havent seen it in a while either, but you're pretty spot on about the wheel.
I've never read the books but in the movie hes mainly just a stoic warrior from a savage past. But how does rage fit into the riddle of steel? Traditionally, when a barbarian goes into a rage hes implied to be stronger and more resilient, but really it's his enemies becoming weaker under the barbarian's immediate psychological influence. Perhaps rage can be wielded similarly to steel, where it depends on the wielder. Yet rage must have a purpose, like the fire that melts the steel, but rage must remain hot and ready to be tempered into something more purposeful.
He killed himself because his mother died, imagine all the additional stories that could have been if she didn't died. bet he had massive mommy issue
An interesting point of view, and it resonates with Conan centering himself through sword practice throughout the movie.
At first he's cold blooded rage, then becomes an ill tempered thief, a cunning warrior, a grieving lover and finally, a culmination of those traits.
I read some of the short stories and most of the time he appears focused and in control, using his rage and not letting it control him. But books Conan and movies Conan is a different character so I'm not sure it's a good comparison.
If he is a bodybuilder I'm Mickey mouse
It baffles how good the character arc of Conan is compared to how much characterization Arnie gives the character. And that's not fault it in any way, hes perfect for the role, but imagine if he had the acting chops to match James Earl Jones.
Flesh goes weak. Steel becomes brittle. Will is indomitable
Steel is an alloy. The answer to the riddle is that all races must come together and combine in order to become strong.
>when you botch your persuasion roll
I think the idea was to contrast the two two.
>cunning barbarian
vs
>scheming sorcerer
