This is more enjoyable than I remembered. The score is awesome which is no surprise since it's Carpenter and James Woods is a badass.

Easily Carpenter's last and based movie. That scene where the priest has to go into the basement by elevator actually gives me chills.
Sheryl Lee's butt
This was my first Carpenter movie, because it aired on late night tv shortly after I inherited my older brothers tv for my room.
I enjoyed the fuck out of it but completely forgot it existed. Thanks user, gonna dl and revisit.
I really love the tow winching vampires and pulling them out into the sun thing.
One of the sexiest vampires ever.
>vampire killers celebrate victory with prostitutes
we might never see something like this ever again
A lot of the vampire killing was well thought out. I mean, how often do you even see spears used in movies? The occasional Asian martial arts flick, and sometimes the generic baddies in Western action movies and that's it.
It feels like what Van Helsing would be doing if he was alive in the 90's
>That absolute RANDOM carnage with no regard for life
Easily one of Carpenter's most underrated scenes. It's so complicated
>Spears
Doesn't that go back to Christ and the romans? Very fitting for a vampire movie.
I remember this was on tv when I got home one night from something as a little kid. My dad changed the channel and said I was too young to watch it. Only part I saw was them coming up out of the ground. Was weird.
Years later I watched it, not knowing this was that movie id seen so long ago. When I found out, I was kinda surprised and it wasn't a let down either.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
I like how Woods' elite team of vampire hunters suddenly turns into a clumsy group of buffoons in the motel
Vampire master+it's clear the only attacked when they had the advantage
Plus they were doing a lot of hard drinking and fucking
>Hey, tell me, after 500 years, how's that dick workin?
Movie is one of my favorites and based James Woods is kino in everything he was ever in. If you've never seen Videodrome, stop what you're doing and go watch it immediately.
Either of the scenes where they go to the nests was pretty scary, but the second is definitely worse because Guiteau alone and has no weapon to defend himself.
IT'S NOT LIKE THEY'RE A BUNCH OF FUCKIN' FAGS HOPPING AROUND IN RENTED FORMAL WEAR AND SEDUCING EVERYBODY IN SIGHT WITH CHEESY EUROTRASH ACCENTS
>Hey Valek, after 200 years how's that dick working? Pretty good?
Woods's improv is god-tier in this movie
So many movies try to do the "these aren't your typical vampires" explanation, and this is easily the best one. Woods is flying through words so fast it feels like you'll miss what he's saying
I loved how this was basically and likely potshot to Bram Stoker's Dracula that released 6 years prior, but little did we all know that the Vampire genre would become way worse than 'Eurotrash accents' ten years later with Twilight crap.
No problem. It's more enjoyable with age for some reason. I'm guessing because you know what you're in-store for ahead of time when that wasn't the case in '98
Videodrome is one of my favorite horror films from the '80s. I've seen it probably about 20+ times.
In one of the Harry Dresden books a secondary character goes vampire hunting with a boar spear with a bangstick fitted at the butt end which is about the makes most sense vampire weapon I've ever heard of
>YOU POLE-SMOKING FASHION VICTIM!
I watched the sequel starring Bon Jovi. Guess what? It wasn't very good.
This, '79 Nosferatu, Shadow of the Vampire, and Near Dark are really the only vampire kino you need.
over the years i've made some threads about this movie
Most of them failed miserably haha
>no Lost Boys
Fearless vampire killers, Dracula and Captain Kronos are way better you pseudo-zoomer
Me too fren
Lost Boys really isn't very good outside of its setting. Near Dark released the same year and is a better movie in most ways.
>Fearless vampire killers
Shit comedy
>Dracula
Awful compared to Herzog kino
>Captain Kronos
lmao no
I watched a double feature of Nosferatu and Shadow of the Vampire at a restored 1920s theater with an actual pipe organ and organist providing the music for Nosferatu. best theater experience of my life
You have to include Horror of Dracula (1958) with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing in there somewhere.
is nosferatu better in German or English?
They're incredibly close. You can tell some of the actors aren't native English speakers in the German version but the inverse is true for the German version since they used an international cast. There are a few scene differences but nothing objectively better or worse. They all serve the same purpose and all function just as well. Just watch whichever version initially sounds good to you.
Fuck, I totally forgot that crappy sequel existed. I remember seeing it on TV years ago and just knew the decline of vampire cinema was right before my eyes. It also appears there was a third movie as well.
I remember Gene Siskel saying James Woods should get an Oscar nom for this performance.
I don't know if he'd fully lost it, or was in fact, based.
Hahahha checked and that's fucking hilarious. I remember sometimes he'd say really based shit like this but kind of off the wall.
they were pussy drunk
People give Siskel shit all the time, but he was based as fuck more often than not.
>decline of vampire cinema
and this

Literally one of the worst movies I've ever watched of not only as "Horror" (if you can call it that), but of any genre.
You're an idiot.
no u
Near Dark is better
Speak for yourself, retard. Imagine like a film that incorporates the idea of Vampires being in space.
No. It's. NOT.
>Vampires being in space
What's wrong with that, you small-minded retard?
Vampire in Space Kino
I think the better question is, what's right about it? So are you saying that Dracula 3000 is a good movie that everyone can enjoy with vampire kino practical effects that I should recommend to my friends and relatives? That's why your movie failed on all levels and no likes it except for you and the two nigger crack heads who are your next-door neighbors who love seeing their black rapper heroes in film.
>t.Nigger who loves shit Horror Comedy
>Dracula 3000 is good
Let me guess, you're a fan of Halloween Resurrection and Leprechaun in tha Hood too, right?
Yes it is, as long as you don't have garbage taste for retards.
Because it’s always daytime in space
loved it
Not if you're behind a planet or far enough that the sun is basically a star.
When I first saw this film, I thought it was complete garbage. I watched it again recently, and still thought it was dumb. Nothing against Carpenter, They Live was great, but that's the only good film he's managed to make, ever.
absolute brainlet detected.
You're dumb, dumbass.
Imagine being this wrong.
the editing is quite bad, from dusk till dawn 3 its a better vampire western
