Is this Kurosawa's most underrated kino? I never see it mentioned when discussing his best works, compared to say Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, or Ran.
Is this Kurosawa's most underrated kino? I never see it mentioned when discussing his best works...
I don't think i've ever seen this one. My personal favorites of his are throne of blood, and red beard. It's really sad that it was the movie that ended the friendship between kurosawa and mifune.
it's my favorite of his, if that means anything to you OP.
I torrented Rashomon a couple days ago but still haven't watched it. Is it as good as the trailer made it seem? Is everything by this director worth watching?
High and Low is my personal favorite. Peak Mifune.
Loved the credit theme abd the end in general
I have yet to watch, but it's my dad's, a boomer, favourite.
It's a gorgous film, but I've always thought it a little dull
Sanjuro is imo still cracks me up when people don't realise Yojimbo had a sequel
my fav Kurosawa, use of colour is perfect and it has some of his best ever shots imo
I wouldnt say most underrated (The Bad Sleep Well) but it most definitely is. I know it was basically a training exercise for Ran and most people would point to that as the superior film of the two but I actually like Kagemusha more. The nightmare sequence alone makes this film worthwhile.
What ethnicity are you guys? Are you japanese, chinese, or burger?
Brazilian. Dad was born in 1951.
It gets mentioned frequently.
your dad isn't a boomer, your country didn't fight in WW2
Good call. Also, The Bad Sleep Well and Stray Dog.
literally nobody on Yea Forums uses generational classes the proper way. they actually think if they go out into the world and try to tell somebody about "millenials" or "zoomers" they'll know what the fuck they're talking about.
Well my grandfather is directly connected to WW2, does that make my father a boomer?
I actually thought this was just a time frame thing.
Fucking Dersu Uzala is. Never even saw it mentioned once in all the years since I discovered Kurosawa, just popped up on my tracker one day so I grabbed it, and it turned out to be one of his best.
Unfortunately the only HD transfer is garbage, terrible shame since it was shot in 70mm.
I felt bad when he didn't get to say goodbye to his fake grandson
>grandfather was connected to WW2
are you a blonde haired/blue eyed brazilian?
No that would be Dersu Uzala.
Yes, Kagemusha is extremely underrated and is also his best work by far. Rivaled only by Ran.
Its one of the movies that should be mentioned more often for sure. Give as a proper subbed blu ray release Putin pls.
Yes, it's also his best film.
>Brazilian
So are you part Japanese, or a family of Nazi runaways?
