1- it's a hold over/legacy drug with a long history. Alcohol has been consumed and enjoyed for thousands of years, as long as or longer than pretty much all other drugs for the most part. Relatively cheap and inexpensive. It even has religious use in Christianity.
2- you can enjoy it in small quantities and be perfectly fine. The odd drink now and then is pretty much harmless. It is also not as strong as many other forms of drugs and I find it much easier to limit/control your intake with alcohol.
3- it feels good and is fun and makes most people more socially outgoing and have a good time compared to something like ketamine which is going to drop you on the floor
