I’ve been saying for years, if the movie industry was smart they’d go to a public library and just start making movies out of all the books. Those books have better movie ideas than 95% of execs. I’m convinced hollywood is just some giant money laundering scheme at this point, there is 0% chance all these shit movies are making them profit and you’ll have like 10 actors getting paid 20+ million each in one movie when the budget is like 100 million. The numbers don’t add up

The whole point of the Transformer movies, the Lego movies, the Battleship movie, etc., is to sell products that are already being made, and to capitalize on trademarks and products that already exist.
The company that makes the product or that owns the brand, kicks in a hige percentage of production costs if not the whole budget.
While the He-Man movie was made decades ago, there was also a He-Man movie. Mattel paid for half the movie’s budget, with the oroducers contracted to kick in the other half.
Nowadays the brand owner may kick in more than half.

I watched Stroke of Genius. For some reason as a kid I felt like watching it, I don't know why I did. There was nothing in that film worth a film.
