They are already struggling with side characters and side plots, and even the big thing of season 2, Atlanta child murders, was underwhelming, especially when compared with Fincher's earlier serial killer themed work.

Season 2 was better received by both critics and viewers. Go look at rottentomatoes or IMDb. Both times S2 had better ratings.

John Douglas is a fraud who road the coat tails of Robert Ressler, and even got exposed for tailoring a criminal profile in order to frame an innocent man by the Canadian Courts, when he conspired to try and coerce a man named Guy Paul Morin, to falsely confess to the rape and murder of a little girl.

The Canadian Courts on the accusations that Douglas framed an innocent man and then screened phone calls and letters by the Canadian authorities when caught:

Douglas refused to admit however that he rail-roaded Morin, despite that he deliberately wrote two criminal profiles tailored after him, and said that the police should lie to Morin and interrogate him in a room with a giant blown up photo of a fingerprint, to give him the impression that they had his prints, as well as have several file cabinets in the room with his name on it, to look like they had a mountain of evidence.

In John's book, "Journey into Darkness," John insisted that the DNA from the semen evidence in the Morin case must be wrong, because there's no way the great John Douglas could have fucked up.

That's right, John said a letter written by the actual killer was a hoax. He also told the police that they were wrong to investigate Gary Ridgway, because he had passed a polygraph, and therefore was innocent and that they were nobodies, while he himself was a mighty FBI agent and knew how serial killers thought.

His book, "The Cases That Haunt Us," is also full of incorrect information that he was wrong on, such as The Boston Strangler, where he regurgitates conspiracy theories almost verbatim taken from a popular book that came out decades ago, called, "The Boston Stranglers," in which the author of that book, claimed Albert DeSalvo was innocent and not the Boston Strangler. John then in his own book, repeats the accusations as if they were his own opinions, claiming that Albert DeSalvo was a non-violent rapist and therefore incapable of committing the Boston Strangler murders. John was however BTFO by the DNA results that occurred a few years ago, which said Albert was indeed the Boston Strangler, and his semen was found on a blanket at the crime scene of the final murder.

John however was hired by JonBenet's parents to defend them and create an "alternative" profile that would point away from them and was paid a shit ton of money to do so. So now he shamelessly plugs his theories despite that it contributes towards interfering in getting justice in the case.

I've studied criminal justice and read true crime books since I was 18. I'm in my 30's now and anyone who's familiar with true crime knows John Douglas is one of the biggest pieces of shit in the biz and takes credit for the work of other profilers and writers, making their opinions his own, while also being obsessed with fame and publicity. He's also framed people and tailors his profiles to fit suspects that he's already aware of.

Included here is artwork on a letter envelope by Hadden Clark, a cross dressing cannibal who killed and ate a little girl and also was convicted of murdering a woman and then wearing her clothes around pretending to be her, because he was jealous of the woman. He also confessed to numerous other murders but it's unclear how many more he did, but when arrested he had a bucket of jewelry from many other victims.

For shits and giggles here's some other stuff I've accumulated. Included here is a letter from Herbert Mullin, along with a signed photo he sent. Mullin is a schizophrenic he blamed his use of drugs for triggering his mental illness. He also developed a paranoid belief that God needed human sacrifices, and that with the Vietnam War being over, there wouldn't be enough deaths, which in turn would trigger a massive earth quake which would ravage California and send it into the ocean. He then began killing people to appease God, including murdering a priest, who he believed was willingly sacrificing himself to God for him.

A poem signed by serial killer, John Norman Collins. Collins was a good looking college football player, who would con coeds into trusting him, then rape them in secluded areas, torture them and kill them. His signature included overkill, with victims stabbed over 30 times and one victim who had her head nearly hacked off. Collins was also a necrophiliac, who revisited the corpses of his victims and repeatedly had sex with them. He'd then dump the bodies for the police to find and would even revisit crime scenes while investigators were still present leaving new clues behind, such as once leaving a flower for each one of his victims, and another time burning down a farm house he had committed a murder in while police were supposed to be watching the location. Another time investigators even located one of his victims, then replaced it with a mannequin without alerting the public in the hopes of luring the killer back. The killer did indeed show up, and touched the mannequin under the cover of darkness while rain was pouring outside. Investigators managed to spot the killer touching the fake body, but were unable to chase him down in the rain, so he got away.

Collins was eventually turned in by his aunt and uncle; his uncle being a cop.

Many serial killers ask for money, they need stuff in prison, such as food, books, and magazines; etc, but most can't afford those luxuries. Also many people write to famous killers just to get letters and art from them just so they can sell them for a profit, so many of these guys ask for favors such as money up front to even waste their time talking to people who are probably just going to stop writing them. A number will also write you if you're a woman, or at least lie and claim to be. A female friend and I used to get 20 page letters from John Norman Collins, and he even sent us photos from a prison Christmas Party where prisoners made toys for orphaned children. In one photo he's even carrying around an orphan child on his shoulders, which is shocking since he had murdered 7 women and was completely unrepentant about it and never even publicly confessed.

Well, I was contacted by an author who ended up penning a book on Collins. You see I was thinking of writing a book on him based on newspaper articles, as well as information from two other books, and intended to pad it with any information my friend and I squeezed out of Collins by writing him. This author later included me in the acknowledgements section of his own book, and even visited me at my aunt's house where he read to me a confession Collins made over the phone to a female pen pal.

In the confession, Collins says that it's his victims' fault for getting into his car in the first place, and that they should have known better. He also said killing them felt like he was stealing their souls and that he enjoyed the reactions on their faces each time he stabbed them. Further he said he was never going to publicly confess, because he said he wanted to be able to take their souls to hell with him so they could be with him for eternity. Killing them was very enjoyable apparently. He said he felt like a predatory bird, circling around for prey and then every once in awhile snatching a victim up in his talons.

Your average person can do pretty much what Douglas and Ressler did just by writing letters to prisoners. Most of the really famous killers are either dead or don't write back to most people though. Kemper for example only writes back to a small close circle of pen pals and nobody else really. Same for Ted Kaczynski or Dennis Rader, though Rader has tried to send letters that people write to him to the police in the hopes that if he helps the police enough by some how catching another killer who was writing him, that they'd either let him out or give him special privileges. Two famous murderbelia collectors named Eric and Jessika Gein had the FBI show up at their house when they wrote to Dennis Rader, quizzing them about if they were murderers and why they were writing him. Apparently he turned the letter they sent over to the police hoping to get brownie points thinking they might be murderers.

Douglas I became more and more aware as I read that he was full of shit. There's many things written in true crime books that we take ask fact, but then never get scrutinized, it's crazy the amount of false information that gets parroted, such as claims that Henry Lee Lucas and Ottis Toole killed hundreds of people, despite that an investigation by the Texas Rangers found that Lucas only killed 3 people and was likely falsely confessing to more murders to avoid getting executed. As for Toole he was jealous that Lucas was getting all the attention, yet no book ever mentions that Toole may never have killed a single person, and only ended up convicted of murder because of a confession by Henry Lee Lucas... a serial confessor.

Douglas is another mythical figure that the press pretends to be a saint, but he's not. He framed Guy Paul Morin and dodged the Canadian Courts over it, he works as a hired gun for defense teams, and has admitted to never doing his own research on a murder case, saying he has his co-author do the research for him, or have other people give him information to then give his opinion on, which is why he always adopts popular opinions as his own, such as claiming DeSalvo was not the Boston Strangler, or saying William Heirens was innocent in his book, "Law & Disorder". He's also been criticized by other FBI agents as having gone "Hollywood", meaning he's more of a celebrity talking head now than an actual agent.

He was never able to lead the police to any additional body that they were unaware of. And in addition all three of the confirmed murders involved the same MO:
