can someone tell me why these mr L tactics that seem to break the engine are always so fucking retarded? a 4-1-5-0 currently breaks the game. There is basically only 1 person defending the deeper midfield strata
why can i not make good tic tacs that make sense
I use a 4-1-3-2-0 and with Inverted Wing-backs you have a 2-3-5 in possession, so your midfield is covered if you lose possession and you have 5 players way up the pitch ready to press and get the ball back in a dangerous position. So the normal scenario is that either you get the ball back and counter or they have to hoof it. Meanwhile, in a static attack the MC and both AMCs cover the middle way before the ball reaches the DM, so they usually have to pass it wide (use "Force Opposition Outside") where your WM and IWB quickly close it down. On paper, it does seem stupid at first, but it's pretty similar to the way City or Liverpool play (which the Match Engine heavily favors). So, all in all, the biggest weakness of this system is a through ball behind the centerbacks and the intensity it requires. Just watch some comprehensive highlights.

Because of playing in weaker countries I always want players who can develop for either the stronger next tier or europe so it never makes financial sense to go after old players anyway. So once a save gets rolling this never usually becomes a problem

Depends on the player, I signed Jordan Henderson for Fiorentina at 34 and he was still starting weekly at 39 with minimal decline in attributes. I usually guage it around natural fitness and injury record. Anyone with high natural fitness and low injuries is usually good until mid 30s.

Is it true that coaches with high Judging Ability Potential in the u18s increase the chance of getting better regens?
Probably a rumour, always heard it was just youth recruitment + nation + location + reputation and then maybe a little bit of HOYD influence
maybe to a degree. a clubs reputation, and the countrys population the club is located in affects your chance of getting good regens way more than just having good coaching staff/facilities.
if you play with some random 2nd division club in a country that has high reputation, like belgium or portugal, you end up getting a wonderkid every few years. even if you are using a team with just average facilities/coaches. you see this even more with argentina and brazil.
meanwhile if you play with a club with top facilities and coaches in a small population/low reputation country like in norway or austria, they rarely get a wonderkids, even though they have lots of clubs with top facilities.
