It's fitting that TLJ opened up the star wars universe to moral relativism. Back in the 70s Americans still believed there was an objective truth, a right and wrong that existed in reality outside of any particular person's perception. That idea has died out in the media over a few decades. TLJ shows that the light and the dark side are no more than two sides of the same coin, and that there's no objective truth or goodness that the light side of the force inherently channels/follows. Meaningless hogwash for a culture that has no greater values.
