honestly a very slow and boring 100 episodes, then it gets mildly interesting.
If you seen anime with the similar action adventure comedy genre, with a child/teenage male protagonist, then your tolerance will probably wane quite a bit since this one really doesn't do anything new or special.

It's a decent anime for starters though so give it a shot if you haven't already seen the 100 other anime just like it.

Discarding the typical convention of the hero vs villain that allows them to be more fleshed out as actual characters and not just slotted for death because the author deemed them as evil. Having Gon and the King never meet once was crucial and gave their parallel journeys a lot more meaning when you consider that ,for a moment, their roles actually flipped during the palace invasion

2011 was mostly fine, but I don't understand at all them cutting Kite from the start. It completely fucks up the viewer's understanding of why Gon feels so strongly about him.
