Just watched this, what does Yea Forums think of it?
Oliver Wilson
Gabriel Thompson
best movie of the decade. truly a kino
Isaac Clark
Didn't like it too much at first. Watched it multiple times since then. Loved it every time. Don't know why it just didn't get to me on the first viewing.
Henry Price
how do you watch the same movie again and again?
Nathaniel Brooks
Boredom mainly. I do it with everything. Books, movies, TV, anime, manga. I'm obsessive about these things and have far too much free time.
Elijah Stewart
Excellent film. Really captures the impotent rage of good, simple men. Wouldn't it be great if everything could be solved by killing a few people with a hammer? Very cathartic.
Do you not rewatch movies that you like for enjoyment, or movies that intrigued you but that you felt like you didn't quite grasp?
Brody Collins
I just don't get point of watching the same movie when you can watch a new one.
Ethan Morales
Why would you watch a potentially shitty new movie when you could watch one that you know you enjoy? Plus you will often notice many more details that you missed on your first viewing.
Jackson Rodriguez
No there are countless great movies,if you don't mind watching older movies.
Lincoln Wilson
i've never heard of this. not his first taxi driver i guess?
Alexander Moore
Do you never listen to the same album twice?
Jaxon Gomez
Yes, and would you rather watch a shitty movie simply because you have not seen it or one of the movies that you know are great?
You'll like it if you empathize with Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver.
Tyler Rogers
Why did he rip out a page from the book?
Michael Reed
Very good but too rushed.
Camden Evans
>Taxi driver vibe.
>Cute cunny.
>needs more action and gore.
Try watching the bouncer 2019 next.
Owen Kelly
Shits gay af
Parker Watson
critically acclaimed movies are usually good.
Julian Ortiz
i loved it but i was high when i watched it
Easton Allen
its not the same things when it comes to music.
Benjamin Price
>No there are countless great movies,if you don't mind watching older movies.
Older movies are, almost without exception, absolute shit
Levi Hernandez
okay,retard.
Christian Lopez
>needs more action and gore
Kinda missed the point of the film there bud
Thomas Hernandez
This can't be serious. This wasn't even a movie. It tried to be some arthouse shit but was just complete and utter shit with no point to it at all. It was an embarrassment for Joaquin.
Austin Phillips
Am I arguing with a literal algorithm?
Jaxon Edwards
No you won't because unlike Taxi Driver, this movie has no point, no cohesion, no intelligence or artistry to it on any level whatsoever and would cause you to fail out of film school if you turned it in for a final project. It isn't even actually a movie, by objective standards.
Thomas Wright
>12 Angry Men
Boom, get fucked
Parker Watson
Why?
Older movies are not countless.
Perhaps, my jolly friend, and forgive me for saying so, you did not in fact get it?
Jaxson Brooks
great argument
Dominic Russell
Do people actually shill this movie on here? That's fucking hilarious. It's the sort of pretentious wank that's a literal trap for morons to defend like it's some hidden, misunderstood kino. This movie was fucking AWFUL.
Nathan Ward
Lots of big words there. Can't wait for you to argue your point.
David Turner
there are still around 1000 of great movies you can find. Most people here have barely watched 100 movies.
Julian Foster
I didn't even care to "get it" because the movie was so slow, pointless, pretentious, and objectively shit that I lost all motivation to even give a fuck what the fuck was going on. I didn't care because I don't want to sit and analyze the finer points and hidden meaning of dog shit.
Henry Hall
How people have this opinion is beyond me yet it also makes me curious. Do you just set an arbitrary year and anything beyond that is old?
Do you completely disregard the well known classics if you deem them too old?
Just so many questions I have for people like you because I know it's truly not an unpopular opinion.
Ryan Morgan
because music and films are not the fucking same.
Juan Ward
>When cohesion and intelligence are "big words"
UH OH SCOOB
Brandon Martinez
>objectively shit
Do elaborate.
Jeremiah Brooks
Hes fuckin around
Daniel Turner
They are big words when all you're trying to say is "I did not like it"
Blake Torres
Was this film about the Clinton's?
Lincoln Martinez
Yes, but why would you not listen to new music instead of music you already know? There's countless good music, if you don't mind listening to older music.
Dominic Bell
Boring pretentious bullshit.
Logan Martin
Because a song is not as long as watching a movie also movies can get boring much faster than songs.
Jack Lopez
It sells itself as some evil pedo-ring kino, but it falls into meandering arthouse bullshit very soon and by the time the movie ends, you realize it actually has zero real plot other than some vague "you didn't get it" pretentious bullshit you have to extrapolate for yourself. The movie was so poorly constructed, and I mean very literally, where it's hard to even give a fuck as it ponders along pointlessly. After the first 30-ish minutes, you get so far into Joaquin's head (or rather up his ass) that very little makes sense or even tries to be engaging. It's a bad arthouse experiment from a first-year at an overpriced film school. THAT IS MY OBJECTIVE CRITIQUE FAGS CAN YOU READ IT NOW?
>It was all in your head, man! Woah!
Ryan Gray
You thought it was an extremely tense visually forward film about the effects of dealing with PTSD and heavy trauma carried by a great performance.
Hunter Moore
Then why not watch a movie that you know doesn't bore you? Also, do you not listen to certain songs because they evoke emotions, memories or particular thoughts in you, related either to the lyrics of the music itself? It sounds like to you it would just be too much of a hassle to always be looking for new songs to listen to.
Joshua Thompson
>it's SUPPOSED to be disappointing
If you say so
Jaxson Ross
>any film that doesn't have action or gore is dissapointing
are you 12
Cooper Cooper
>Visually forward
Is this how you say "didn't have a fucking point?" I'd rather watch Naqoyqatsi.
Connor Sanders
No, visually forward means that you tell the story through the visuals. Like that webm, simple basic visual storytelling with no other exposition needed for the narrative.
Wyatt Diaz
because watching and listening are two different activities.its boring to watch a the same film again and again knowing what the plot is and how it will all end and what will happen next. seriously how do you not get that music and films are two different source of entertainment.
Isaac Bailey
>needs more action and gore.
That undermines the entire movie
Samuel Morales
It's the new Joker film, but without the capeshit sensibilities.
Alexander Allen
>it wasn't what I expected
>I interpreted too much into the advertisements I saw and was disappointed
>I had problems following the story
>it didn't make sense to me
>I didn't like it
That is my objective summary of your subjective critique.
Jonathan Mitchell
>being an unironic plot point mental midget
yikes and oofpilled
Caleb Barnes
you act pretentious as much as you want.
Parker Bailey
Fair enough. I found it trying to compensate for no real story, though. I expected more, though Joaquin always gives his all.
What story? Tell me what the story was lol, I'll wait.
Isaiah Howard
You also know how the verse and chorus of a song goes and how the song ends, yet you listen to it multiple times.
Jonathan Ross
How would one even go about watching a movie for the plot? Is knowing what happens in it the only thing you get out of a movie?
Henry Reyes
>if you're not a plot point brainlet you are pretentious
every post more and more embarrassing
Angel Cruz
song doesn't have plot or characters in it,it doesn't tell you stories.I listen to song for emotions.
Grayson Nguyen
>song doesn't have plot or characters in it
>it doesn't tell you stories
this HAS to be bait
Nathaniel Carter
Just saying that watching the same movie twice has its downsides I would rather watch a new film just as good.
Parker Smith
Story: Man kills or fantasizes about killing a bunch of men with a hammer because they fuck children. I think that's fairly straightforward.
Cameron Price
>I listen to song for emotions.
Once you start doing the same with films you will stop being a pleb.
Landon Allen
Not to the same degree as in movies retard.
Logan Allen
In essence yes. You the viewer don't get the cathartic release of seeing the violence just as the character doesn't get it. But the way it was shot sets you up to believe it's coming and when it doesn't your brain is telling you something is wrong and puts you on edge making the diner scene more impactful.
Xavier Rodriguez
Literally every single song is telling you a story. Every single one, even if it doesn't have any lyrics at all.
Camden Richardson
I will not experience the same emotions I experienced in first viewing. The point is you always wish that you could watch your favorite film and tv show for the first time again so relive that experience you watch it again but its not the same thing.
Easton Garcia
>song doesn't have plot or characters in it,it doesn't tell you stories
Aaron Turner
Not to the same degree again.stories are not important aspect of a song. you don't say hey dude you should listen to that song the story and plot is great in it.
Henry Rogers
>I will not experience the same emotions I experienced in first viewing
Same for music.
>you always wish that you could watch your favorite film and tv show for the first time again so relive that experience
Same for any album I like.
Carter Morales
his best album
Jackson Kelly
No truly great film is great because of it's story/plot. The visual narrative is what is important, what you say through the visuals and the audio, plot points are just the device. Films are not about making le epic plot points.
.
The plot itself can be completely simple, what matters is how it is executed. All of the films that are considered the greatest like The Mirror or 2001 or Blade Runner don't have necessarily complex plot points, what makes them great is the audio/visual narrative. You can't just retell those films by retelling the story, you literally have to see them to get a grasp it in any way because it's they have a full use of the visual medium.
Jason Evans
the point is songs don't get old as fast as films do.You should seriously stop comparing films and music and saying that watching a movie and listening to a song is same.
Angel Garcia
But you don't know if you're going to enjoy that new film or if it's any good, it's much easier and safer to watch something you know you like.
Oliver Reed
sure but my point is watching a new film is just much more exciting and a better experience if its just as good.
Colton Cook
And we keep telling you that it has its upsides as well. Knowing what happens in a good movie doesn't hinder your enjoyment, it actually lets you focus on why the movie is good. You will see details that before you missed because you didn't know how the story would unfold, so you didn't know they were relevant. You will be able to reflect on thoughts you didn't even remember you had while watching it the first time - you will be able to engage with the film instead of just killing time with it. It would be ridiculous to watch Inland Empire or The House That Jack Built or Freddy Got Fingered or anything like that only once.
Luis Walker
how did you knew the movie that you enjoy the most will be any good?.by watching it for the first time and seeing for yourself.
Mason Clark
yes maybe for some movies it holds true but most movies not really.
Camden Fisher
Seeing it once you wouldn't even know if you enjoy a film though. That phrasing implies that you would enjoy watching it, which it seems you wouldn't. You would have been able to enjoy it only once and never again.
Jayden Ward
I thought you only watch good movies? Those are not "most movies", are they?
>You would have been able to enjoy it only once and never again.
That doesn't sound like a good movie desu
Josiah Gomez
Right but did he actually do it or was he just a fucking schizo? You could've done a lot with the whole arthouse-psychological-PTSD madness if you had an actual story, like an actual plot other than his weird ass mother. Missed opportunity, imo.
Ayden Martinez
good films also vary.some movies can be more rewatchable compared to others.
Nicholas Cook
>Right but did he actually do it or was he just a fucking schizo?
Perhaps it was the author's intention to have you ask that question. Although it is pretty clear that not eveything that happens on screen is actually happening.
Joshua Bailey
Why would any movie be rewatchable though? You already know the plot and how it unfolds. What enjoyment do you get out of rewatching a movie?
Lucas King
Yes exactly, but you were asking how people can rewatch films multiple times instead of watching new ones, it's because it's much safer. Sure you won't be experiencing anything new or finding a new favourite, but you know you're at least going to have a decent time instead of being bored for 2 hours.
I feel the same with music in that I always default back to my favourite artists and songs because trying to find good new stuff I like is too exhausting so I don't bother.
Alexander Nelson
the kind of movie that has its focus less on plot and mostly on other aspects.David lynch's films are like that.
Camden Nguyen
Many films are like that desu
Those you will get more enjoyment out of by rewatching
And that's what makes a good movie
Anthony Campbell
wow, he really chubbed down
