NOT GONNA CATCH ME WITH ME TROUSERS ON

Have we got a video?

Who here /scumbag/

Rip Rik Mayall, absolutely brilliant comedian.

>yes okay! you're right vyvyan, I AM a virgin!
>NOT FOR LONG MATEY

>the ep where they didnt get a TV license

Poetry

youtube.com/watch?v=Shk8HawnCTs

>absurd british humor
oh... it's that shit again.

Attached: eye roll.gif (500x240, 497K)

Not even Rik's best. New Statesmen is better and Bottom is a GOAT sitcom

Attached: p02tvlbw.jpg (640x360, 54K)

>World's stickiest bogey
>Scumbag
How do you respond, Yea Forums?

Oh Neil, Neil, Orangle peel, why won't I see you agaaaain?

My boomer dad loves this show. Is it any good?

Toxteth O'Grady

Bottom was superior

Cringe english “comedy”

>yank "humour"

OH CLIFF

SOMETIMES IT MUST BE DIFFICULT NOT TO FEEL AS IF

YOU REALLY ARE A CLIFF

WHEN FASCISTS KEEP TRYING TO PUSH YOU OVER IT

ARE THEY THE LEMMINGS OR ARE YOU CLIFF?

OR ARE YOU CLIFF?

kys yid

Haven't you heard? Rik the people's poet is dead!

But how can Rik be dead if we still have his poems?

Bottom is pretty fucking great. I've only seen one episode of Filthy, Rich, and Catflap and never eve heard of New Statesman. Are both worth seeking out?

indeed.

> played a manic asshole in The Young Ones
> played a manic asshole in Bottom
> bit parts as a manic asshole in Blackadder

such a range

Don’t look at me...I’m irrelevant

how do the stars stay on his head? glue?

Vegetable rights and peace!

TYO > Bottom > TNS > FR&C

But ultimately Mayall made some serious kino

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN VISITED BY CAPTAIN FLASHHEART

TO THIS VISITATION

hey now you forgot about his role as a manic asshole in drop dead fred

And how!

...and they were all funny. What comedian has range?

Hey...chinese food huh?

A hammer or a nail gun knowing Vyvyan

The best of that shit. It only got worse as time went on.

WOOF

very redpilled character. also WOOF

What was the point of this character?

Attached: Mike.jpg (719x424, 49K)

Young Ones is good but Bottom is superior

Attached: literally me.gif (274x206, 619K)

no point manlets are just a laugh innit

I suppose, but he wasn't even going to be a manlet until his original actor got fired a few weeks before filming and they had to quickly find a replacement

none. that was the point

Stop being aggresive op

Rando party manlet/straight man for others to play off.

only seen Filthy, Rich, and Catflap and it's a beta version of Bottom. It's not as a good as either Bottom or TYO. I'd skip it unless you're a big Mayall fan.

So sad he died young.

All because of that stupid quad-bike incident too

Attached: MissYouRik.jpg (1024x1604, 292K)

Was he a ladies man or was it all an act all along? From time to time he does seem to know what he's doing.

>hiding behind some garden wall in Belfast
In just a couple of years we might be back to those good ol' days. Can't wait.

It was an act, he admitted as such when they were all about to be killed by the vampire from Johannesburg. You think a manlet like him could be all that Chad?

Cheers. I'll look into Statesman.
Are you saying you didn't like Mike?

Alexei Sayle's characters are the best parts.

youtube.com/watch?v=XbKMIg9gsjY

youtube.com/watch?v=TA8Uav7EPlQ

Peter Richardson was supposed to play him but he clashed with the producer and got kicked out.

Mike would have been more like Super Hans from Peep Show.

Attached: The Comic Strip Presents.jpg (480x360, 14K)

I didn't dislike Mike, he just never seemed to actually do anything or get any funny lines. Always felt like he was just 'there' because the writers weren't sure what to do with him

Bottom is better

The cool manlet who deals drugs

so we sow the seed, right?.... And then nature grows the seed..

>Oh, No! Not THEM! was an untelevised 1990 television pilot for an American television series remake of the British television show The Young Ones, commissioned by the Fox network.[1]
>It starred Nigel Planer as Neil (reprising his Young Ones role) and Jackie Earle Haley,[2] and had a claymation opening credit sequence. Fox did not pick up the series. It was directed and produced by David Mirkin.[2]

I loved Bottom, particularly the live shows (if you haven't seen them, do look them up, they're brilliant), but I did find it kind of repetitive in a way that TYO wasn't. I felt it had wore out long before the end of S3.

Holy shit, can we find it?

He's just killed a hippie everybody!

>American remakes

Attached: hamster.jpg (353x416, 21K)

Most people forget the Nintendo adverts he did in the 90s. The Nigel mansell one at around 2.48 is particularly absurd.

Socks aren't vegetables man, they should be wiped out!

kek.

Holy fucking shit. I'm in the US and never saw these. Incredible. Rik was truly beyond based.

doubtful. it's never been released

OY NIGEL THE MANS ON THE TV DOIN THE FUNNY WALK AGAIN. COME OVER ERE' AND 'AVE A LOOK-SEE

Careful now.

Attached: 16d.jpg (374x767, 54K)

I'm suddenly remembering the American Peep Show pilot where they abandoned the POV idea but kept the wobbly camera because they were absolute retards who didn't understand why it was there. I wonder what similar thing they didn't get with the Young Ones.

Do game adverts like these still exist or have they been replaced by youtube let's players? I haven't seen a tv advert in close to a decade so I don't know what the current state is.

Wouldn't the IRA WANT British soldiers to be hiding behind garden walls, tho?

why do American remakes seem to always try and get at least one member of the original cast in it.
Do producers think it'll add legitimacy to the remake or something?

Damn the show could've been even better.
He probably would've been funnier since Peter Richardson was actually close with the rest of the cast.

I knew a guy like Rick, he just dressed a bit more middle class.

It's weird how they often seem to get exactly one member of the British cast to cross-over
youtube.com/watch?v=YUdGpkdksKE
Same thing happened for the Canadian Primeval spin-off

Checked triple dubs, not really, if it kicks off up the north, the IRA will start bombing population centred in england, they'll give prior warning first though.

Attached: LeathalAllies.jpg (500x500, 20K)

That teacup grip... fucking eurofags can't into guns on any level...

Attached: 1559783478474.gif (460x258, 2M)

Yeah but if the Brits aren't hiding behind garden walls in Ireland then the IRA won't get any backing from the common people constantly seeing armed Brits when they take out the trash, and they'd rather have them hiding than doing ACTUAL work against them.

youtu.be/mgsvfGKe14E

found the kiwi

How did you manage to butcher it so badly?
YOU WON'T CATCH ME WITH ME TROUSERS

Was this guy in anything else apart from TYO and Only Fools and Horses?

He was Eddie's ex-husband in a few episodes of AbFab

I don't watch TV anymore myself but I don't think many games are advertised on there at all. The target audience aren't really watching TV.

They did the same thing with Red Dwarf where they got Robert Llewellyn to play Kryten
youtube.com/watch?v=TcoycQSHSb4
Don't watch it though its awful

Give us some easy ones Bambi, you big bottom boil.

It's not that, if a border goes up, sectarian violence will result, if British soilders are back on the streets of northern Ireland, bombs will be going off in England, why would they risk their own people fighting on irish clay.

It's so surreal.

>New Statesman
Basically "Tories are complete bastards". If you like that sort of thing you'll enjoy it.

he was in Bottom

That advert where Edmonson is applying for a bank account or something and he has four plasters on his forehead.

Attached: 1532453986697.png (200x200, 64K)

No-one ever listens to me, I might as well be a Leonard Cohen album.

WOOF, you dashing bastard.

They were all stereotypes of the time
> Rik, the obnoxious communist/socialist student thats actually a middle class twat (Citizen Smith)
>Viv, the idiotic, aggressive and violent punk (The Sex Pistols)
> Neil, the brain dead and impotent hippy (Woodstock tropes)
> Mike, was meant to be the right wing, dodgy capatalist much like a used car salesman (Arthur Daley from Minder)

He was meant to be the sttraight man and often takes on a leader role although he's not very good at it. The rest of the characters generally respect and defer to him as if he's a father/older brother figure.
The problem was the actor Christopher Ryan. He's wooden to the point he can barely deliver a line. He's almost as bad as Dave Hedgehog in Bottom but at least that characters supposed to be odd. Its no suprise his entire career is made up of small supporting one off roles.

>New Statesmen
Excellent choice.

Attached: 1560942958346.jpg (758x644, 64K)

>if British soilders are back on the streets of northern Ireland
Exactly. If British soldiers are hiding behind garden walls then the militant sections will have the fuel they need to launch attacks again. If the Brits don't put soldiers on the ground those groups won't have it anywhere near as easy bombing England, without being crucified by their fellow Irishmen. They NEED British soldiers in Ireland, "hiding behind garden walls" where they're constantly seen by the people and reminding them of the oppression and turning them towards the militants, while not actually doing much to stop any bombings in England. It's their fucking dream to have British boots on the ground again.

Bottom was really his only other recurring role. He's just a bad actor.
He did crop up in One foot in the Grave, Absolutely Fabulous and even Dr Who.

Based Boris would Never allow it

>tfw you'll never meet a woman WITH A TONGUE LIKE AN ELECTRIC EEL, AND SHE LIKES THE TASTE OF A MAN'S TONSILS

He used to be a cat burglar

And the people loved him for it. Including me.

That's not Seinfeld.

Heres a web documentary about his career. I didn't realise he did dramas for ITV in the early 90's.
One was a Rom Com with Helena Bonham Carter.

>Careful now.

Yes, but the British government was brought to the negotiating table in the 1990's northern Ireland was giving devolved staus, and the border between northern Ireland and ireland were dropped, brexit throws a spanner in the works.

>As part of the agreement, the British parliament repealed the Government of Ireland Act 1920 (which had established Northern Ireland, partitioned Ireland and asserted a territorial claim over all of Ireland) and the people of the Republic of Ireland amended Articles 2 and 3 of the Constitution of Ireland, which asserted a territorial claim over Northern Ireland.

>In its white paper on Brexit, the United Kingdom government reiterated its commitment to the Belfast Agreement. With regard to Northern Ireland's status, it said that the UK Government's "clearly-stated preference is to retain Northern Ireland's current constitutional position: as part of the UK, but with strong links to Ireland.

>Because the Good Friday Agreement binds the British government on several points of law in Northern Ireland, it has de facto become a part of Constitution of the United Kingdom. Legal commentator David Allen Green described it as "a core constitutional text of the UK, and of Ireland [...] of more everyday importance than hallowed instruments such as, say, Magna Carta of 1215 or the 1689 Bill of Rights".[28]

>Because the Agreement commits the government to enshrine the European Convention on Human Rights in law and allows Northern Irish residents access to the European Court of Human Rights, it required enactment of the Human Rights Act 1998. Consequently, the Agreement was a significant factor preventing the repeal of that Act and its replacement with the proposed British Bill of Rights that Prime Minister David Cameron had promised.[28]

Anyone got a working, seeded magnet link for the complete series? I can't believe how much trouble I'm having DL'ing this show.

Young ones I mean....I'm a tard.

Attached: 1565312560796.png (568x433, 122K)

Yes we've got a video.

Oh ... fuck. I think that's worse than the IT Crowd remake pilot.

He also had a few lines in American Werewolf in London.

D-delete this ;_;

>Based Boris can control the IRA

Attached: 1504384685538.jpg (744x720, 68K)

It's 100% worse.
The IT Crowd one is just bad but i'm used to watching bad american sitcoms, the Red Dwarf remake is actually unwatchable. Everyone is completely miscast have no idea how to deliver the shows punchlines (the few they actually bothered to include).

Watching The Young Ones on MTV back in the day was super comfy.

more like
>Based Boris can control his underlings
It's going to be a shitshow and then Boris is going to blame it all on other people, probably the bloke who gets the job after him, same as always.

See what a little ar18 yank rifle does against 7.62RFN

Just google 'dailymotion the young ones' most BBC stuff doesn't get pulled from dailymotion

HAHA MISSED BOTH MY LEGS!

Why the fuck is Kryten in the first episode?

I don't think anyone on earth could've misunderstood Red Dwarf (even deliberately so) more than the makers of the US version

>this goes through armour, and it goes through the victim, through the wall, through a tree outside... It shoots through schools.
Real scumbags.

Attached: so father.jpg (1280x720, 151K)

Out of interest can anyone think of a US remake of a UK show that was successful?
The only one I can think of is Shameless and not because it was good but because it got past the pilot stage.

>you now remember the Clerks live action sitcom

The Office was surely successful?

The Office, obviously. Probably because office culture is more universal. Meanwhile if you tried to adapt something like Detectorists it'd have to be completely different, because the detectorist differences between the US and UK is like night and day, with one dreaming of finding guns or bullets from the Civil War and the other dreaming to find shit that's older than the US itself.

Of course, you're right lads. I had a brain fart there. Its the most successful re-make and arguably more successful thatn the original, although thats possibly due to the amount of episodes they did and its subsequent longevity.

I think the US Office was successful because, after the first season, they actually put effort into making it a different show with its own ideas and identity rather than just poorly adapting the original series and leaving it at that

That’s not Married With Children.

Fucking wippersnapper. I remember when the Beeb actually made solid comedy, and we all had 3 channels.

Attached: britain burns.png (523x350, 226K)

Went down hill at the end though.

I thought it would, considering how much American networks drag on their shows

Yep, he was Eddie's friend, Dave Hedgehog

Kek'd and Checked

Attached: 20190826195959.jpg (1079x606, 136K)

True. They beat a dead horse for all the shekels they can, loom at the Simpsons.

I suppose Sanford and Son was a big hit in the US as well. Mostly Realty TV and game shows that seem to last.
I find it funny that they did a remake of coupling which was essentially a UK version of Friends to begin with.

>Bad Education
>turns into An American Education

kek

>Balls of Steel
This I have to see

Americans dont seem to get British humour, it seems to go over better in oother Anglophone countries like Australia new zealand.

That movie's a fucking fever dream and a half. Good though

Yeah Bambi, one of the best eps

>"DO NOT LEAN OUT OF THE WINDOW"
>I wonder why...

The best ep. I love University Challenge so it really hits home for me. has all the best gags too.

I don't think there's enough praise for "Comic Strip"

The gangs work on some of the earlier episodes was pretty great. I also think "Bad News" predates Spinal Tap and in some ways is funnier especially when they really did get bottles of piss thrown at them at castle Donington

WOOF!
