GRRM looks like a paedophile.

Yes and no

Books start to suck ass at feast for crows, introduces way too many pointless characters and plotpoints while it should have been the final book where everything is tied up

Of course, but that's not exactly a high bar.

No.

Yeah they're pretty easy reads without sacrificing depth imo. I don't read a lot of fiction but they're easy to get into and stick with. Ignore brainlets saying feast for crows is boring because they contain the best subplot of the series; Cersai's utter insane incompetence at running the kingdom. There's several paragraphs about her lezzign out with some court woman but shes not really into it, so when she's fingering this girl she pretends she's stabbing Robert over and over.

so this is what i've been letting my kids read

Make sure they don't grow up to be Danyfags

No. Reminder that all of the weird ass twists in the last season were in because they were the original Martin endings.

Thats retarded. The implied way the books are going involve major characters that were never introduced in the show.

Get them on some Henry James if you want them to be English majors.

Just the first three books

that's because they merged plotlines

just like euron is a merged completely fucked inbred incarnation of both victarion and euron, and how jorah is the one who gets greyscale

The books are good if you watch the show first. That way you're already familiar with all the characters, and get to enjoy all the additional information and story the books provide.

Yeah, but the fourth one is really mediocre, and the fifth gets a bit better, but the highlight of the series are the 2nd, my favorite one, and the third one. The 1st served as a good introduction to the series and set the tone, but that's about it.

I thought the opposite, Jaime's and Cersei's storylines elevated AFFC to becoming at least enjoyable. ADWD is where I really felt GRRM's weaknesses finally caught up to him, I enjoyed the Dorne plotline but the book is all setup and no payoff which really pisses me off. You can tell the decline in quality of these two books really affected the show too, I feel DnD were fucked from this point on because GRRM made the story unadaptable with all these locations, storylines, and characters

Show made me realise 90% of the subplots in the book are pointless

Yes. The last book is shit but on the whole they're better.

>I feel DnD were fucked from this point on because GRRM made the story unadaptable with all these locations, storylines, and characters
Say what you will, but nothing will excuse how they've ruined the intricate characters they didn't kill first. I expect that TWoW, will it ever be released, will be the climax of the series, and that ADoS is going to be its epilogue.

Oh yes, DnD got really lazy with handling the last two seasons of the show, I haven't seen such a jarringly rushed job in TV since Gravity Falls and for that, I hate them.

I think it's going to end with eight books (if GRRM somehow gets diet that could potentially increase his lifespan), George describes the ending as being in the style of the Scouring the Shire chapter from LOTR and if you consider the way he does storytelling, it'll probably be it's own book (with 3,000 pages of course)

Yes. Even when the show was at its best 1-4 the books are on another level. That doesn't man the show was shit though.

DnD streamlined the fuck out of it and really well too since I like watching the first four seasons of the show more than reading the books but they probably cut out a bunch of minor stuff that would have probably been really important later on in the story (Heart of Winter, Knight of the Laughing Tree, Horn of Winter, Prophecies)

>with handling the last two seasons of the show,
Season 4 was a slow dip, season 5 was fucking abysmal and showcased the fate of the show.

Its like reading a teenagers political manifesto dressed up as harry potter with every 6th page being ripped straight from some artisanal cafes menu.

Let it be known. Mario poster is a roach
