I can't think of anything worse than a Godzilla movie

I can't think of anything worse than a Godzilla movie

Actually I can, having to WATCH a Godzilla movie

They are, in my opinion, the bottom of the barrel when it comes to entertainment. Do people actually like watching two grown men have a slap and tickle fight in rubber suits? It's like adults still watching WWE. Fucking embarrassing.

>B-B-BUT THE NEW ONE IS CGI AND IT'S TOTALLY BADASS

Oh you mean like the shitty 90's one? You're essentially watching a children's cartoon, one that would make Del Toro blush from embarrassment

Nice blog, retard

Redpill me on Godzilla bros. People say the 1954 original is actually kino. Why do they day that? Is it a technical achievement or something or is just really well directed or both?

Godzilla is based. You are cringe.

I said the exact same thing about Godzilla 24 hours ago and was told I just don't know anything about movies.

They're weebs; and even a worse strain of weebs: they're Kaijufags.

It's a giant, atomic monster movie that has a message rather than being pure Hollywood spectacle, thrills, and chills. It speaks from the hearts of the only people for whom the horrors of atomic warfare are not speculative fantasy. Gojira is not the greatest movie ever made but on its own merits it is a good enough movie to watch. The sequels and on are schlock whose entertainment value depends on your tastes.

Suggest something in place of them then.

You don't, and neither does OP

Mechagodzilla and Mechagodzilla 2 are fantastic, planning to watch Terror soon but of the fifteen or so I've seen those two are a cut above. Destoroyah was nice and I really enjoy final wars for what it is, for the most part the millennium series is terrible imo

Literally anything

Okay I will give the benefit of the doubt to the kaijufags. Post with a clip of what you consider the ultimate kino moment in the series.

Pleb filtered

Where did you get the notion that kaiju movies are literal kino? I like kaiju movies but I know they're not high art. Just fun, B-movie schlock.

I'll never understand why non-whites have such a hard on for Fagzilla. His modern films have been dogshit incarnate and his old 70s films are a fucking joke.

Can you imagine meeting a babe at a bar, being asked what your favorite film is, and say, "Godzilla movies". You might as well tell her you're a janitor on Yea Forums, you'll get the exact same response!

So you have no real answer because you have no critical eye for film. You dislike the kaiju genre but you cannot articulate why so you just label them all as bad while qualifying anything else as better without thinking through the implications of such an answer. Watch more movies.

Godzilla's death in Vs Destoroyah

Okay, I'll explain to you why:

They're essentially like bad 80's action flicks Chuck Norris would star in without the character development or writing.

With Kaiju movies, you're there for one thing, and these shlockfests are so filled with crap before you get to the destruction scenes that they're practically pointless to sit through

Not OP but I dislike it because it is the same thing, over and over. At some point it is just beating a dead horse. It was a neat idea but it is time to move on instead of watching 35 films with the same setting, premise, execution, and ending.

How many of these movies have you seen? Name them. Or did you just see an e-celeb talking about it while showing clips from vs megalon?

So you have literally never seen these movies? Explain how Invasion of Astro Monster and Godzilla 1985 are "the same"

Hating Godzilla is one of the surest signs you are interacting with a person of inferior intelligence

I saw Mothra vs. Godzilla on VHS back when I was at my most impressionable, and I fucking hated it when I had Total Recall, Robocop and Back to the Future to watch instead

Isn't the basic idea that there is a peaceful setting, a giant monster appears, destroys part of a city, and then it is somehow defeated?

>Isn't the basic idea that there is a peaceful setting
no
>a giant monster appears, destroys part of a city, and then it is somehow defeated?
That's just the basic story structure, a canvas to build the movie on. Do you also get asshurt when movies use the Hero's Journey you insufferable faggot?

So you only saw one and base your entire opinion of the genre on it? I guess all science fiction is bad too because Plan 9 From Outer Space was bad and I only saw that one.

That's pretty much all of them. It's not like there's not like a post apocalyptic Godzilla movie. Or a western Godzilla. Or a samurai Godzilla. They're all the same fucking movie.

BTTF, Robocop and Total Recall have held up on rewatches

Mothra VS Godzilla did not, because i thought it sucked then too and it sucks now.

Also there's no Noir Godzilla movie (and the black and white original is not nor)

>It's not like there's not like a post apocalyptic Godzilla movie.
name it, weeb

I meant to say there's not a post apocalyptic Godzilla movie, where his destruction has ruined Earth and people are living like the future war stuff in Terminator

>Mothra VS Godzilla did not, because i thought it sucked then too and it sucks now.
Even if that statement was correct, basing your hatred of an ENTIRE GENRE on a SINGLE FILM is fucking retarded.

I've been watching these flicks since I first saw some on Monstervision but what kind of question is that in the age of the internet? I can rattle off flicks like Gojira, Godzilla versus the Sea Monster, Attack of the Legion, or Battle of the Gargantuas but what good is that when anyone can just copy-paste a list?

>but what good is that when anyone can just copy-paste a list?
Well, usually these kind of people are too retarded to think of that

Why does a character have to change genre? What kind of criticism is that?

Godzilla is borderline porno, where you have to write a movie around a stupid stomping lizard. There's no art to these outside of the original and that's even dubious like how The Simpsons has been more bad than good now

I saw Terminator: Salvation and didn't like it. Should I cast aside the entire Terminator franchise based on one bad entry?

>Why does a character have to change genre?

It's been done to death for over 35 films. There's a reason why zombies and the zombie genre had to be reinvented time and time again.

Japanese and Americans have taken tons of whacks at the property and have produced nothing but heaps of the same ol' shit.

Everyone recognizes Terminator 1 and 2 as undeniable classics

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, would pretend for even a fraction of a second that Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla is a classic.

So, you have seen one movie and pretent the entire genre is exactly like that.

Stop being a brainlet, the only thing Godzilla movies have in common is their story structure, in which you should discount 90% of all american cinema as well for using the "Hero's Journey"

If you disagree, please explain how Godzilla vs The Sea Monster and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II are in any way similar

>HAHAHA CLIFF WE SAVED PEDOWOOD FROM THE MANSONS!
Why QT is such a terrible director? the worst piece of shit that I've seen in my life, literally a stupid, dumb and ridiculous dream
>DOOOOD WHOT IF BRAD PITT STOPPED THE 9/11
>DOOD WHOT IF LEONARDO DICAPRIO KILLED OSAMA BIN LADEN
>DOOD WHOT IF BRAD PITT AND DICAPRIO KILLED Xi!
worse than any fictitious Marvel bullshit

>Total Recall!
PKD raped story?
>MM..MUH ARNOLD!!!
>Robocop
A good movie, yeah but what you liked about it?
>.... BLOOD YASSS.!LE EDGY BOI
>Back to the future!
hello plebbit

If it ain't broke don't fix it (Japan only).

based

>Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, would pretend for even a fraction of a second that Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla is a classic.
Why are you constantly mentioning Showa films? Have you never seen the Heisei and Millenium series, both of which actually contain legitimately great films like Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II, Godzilla vs Destoroyah, GMK, Godzilla 2000, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, Tokyo SOS and Final Wars?

It's almost like you don't have a single clue what you are talking about and only have the most mainstream view of the franchise.
Stop pretending to know what you are even talking about

this, OP is a total cuck, maybe he loves A24

What is the BEST Godzilla movie for me to watch going in with bad expectations? Shin Godzilla? I remember that being discussed around here several years ago.

>Godzilla 2000

Oh I remember watching that one. Something about a Godzilla news team following him and an asteroid that becomes a monster

Yeah it sucked too

>There's no art to these outside of the original and that's even dubious like how The Simpsons has been more bad than good now
Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, final wars, gmk, Tokyo sos, Mothra vs godzilla. All better than Shin and 54

>Terminator 2
Oh I remember watching that one. Something about a robot with a time machine that turns into water

Yeah it sucked too

>Back to the future
Back to the future ruined a whole generation of men

0/10, nobody would agree

basado

So we're only allowed to watch Terminator movies? 1 & 2 only? What is your point you are trying to make here? This argument ultimately reduces movie watching down to elitism, snobbery, and closemindedness. The Terminator movies are cheesy schlock next to the worst of Kubrick so why watch them when 2001 exists? Why watch that when there is already Paths of Glory? Why don't we just figure out the movie that everyone can agree is good and that is all we ever watch? Why make more movies at that point? The objective best movie is agreed upon so why risk failure after failure trying to replace it?

>TERMINATOR!
>TOTAL RECALL!
>ROBOCOP!
>BACK TO THE FUTURE!
>CLASSICS!
>STRANGER THINGS!
>READY PLAYER ONE!
>NINTENDO!
>80's! YASSSSSS QUENNNNNNNN!!!!!!

Attached: YASSS.gif (413x243, 51K)

You actually could do a whole lot worse than Shin Godzilla. Before you watch it though ask yourself why you want to see the best of the Godzilla franchise. It is possible that it is just not for you and that it is a niche series with nerds for fans. Despite what geek culture markets not all nerds like all of the same things.

fucking based, kys op

There's so many better films to watch, like Papillon, The Getaway, Call Northside 777 or Anatomy of a Murder

>GOOD MOVIES BAD
>BAD MOVIES GOOD

You Godzilla hipsters are mentally ill

t. Kong

But Godzilla movies aren't bad

Better in what way? I guarantee that Godzilla is better at being about a giant, atomic breath dinosaur than anything Kurosawa ever made.
