Why did tng even launch without a chief engineer. What idiot had that lapse of judgement when conceptualizing everything

Apparently Gene's original idea was that the Enterprise-D would have multiple chief engineers.

It was Season 1 TNG. Think about it

That episode when Riker is offered the powers of Q and Riker gives members of the crew what they desire.
>Riker makes Wesley an adult
>Offers Data to become a real human
>Cures Laforge of his blindness
>Gives Worf a Klingon tranny
Was Worf gay?

considering that Worf banged a female Klingon and had a kid with her, no

But she was half human. Maybe Worf has a thing for Klingon traps and he's bisexual.

I wish I could feel optimism about Picard, but it just looks so bad.

Biracial isnt quite bisexual.

>the show hints at Worf developing a romantic relationship with Tasha Yar
>she is killed by Armus
>Worf is romantically involved with K'Ehleyr
>she is killed by Duras
>Worf is romantically involved with Deanna Troi
>she goes back to Riker
>Worf is married to Jadzia Dax
>Dukat does nothing wrong to her
>Worf is romantically involved with Jasminder Choudhury
>she is killed by the Breen
Why does Worf have to suffer?

I noticed him too. I just didn't want to be the one to say it. I guess we know who broke the transporters now.

Completely serialized television is garbage. It doesn't "hook" you when you can tell the arc is shitty. There's literally nothing wrong with a half-episodic/half-serialized format. Trek has done it before.

DS9 to great success

Trek was better when it was almost entirely episodic. Two part episodes felt special then, and people were happy to see an occasional references to past episodes.

This. You'd never get City on the Edge of Forever in serialized TV. Such horse shit nowadays thanks to streaming.

It's why I love Voyager, for the good and bad there are so many quality episodes in between the (agreeably) shit that the people deprive themselves of great Trek at its expense are missing out.

It's the binge era and the death of cable TV that has done it.

I'd say Next Gen and ToS were better examples. They had more good episodes and fewer bad ones.

remember when /trek/ was fun

The "best ever" episodes are almost always one-off standalones. You can't have silly episodes like Cost of Living or Tinker, Tenor, Doctor, Spy, creepy episodes like The Thaw or Frame of Mind, or moving episodes like Duet or The City on the Edge of Forever in today's streaming format, unless they're the plot for an entire season and the fate of the entire multiverse is at stake or some bullshit.

Not everyone is a canon junkie these days. Things eventually change.

Attached: STD_00_NS_Cover_UK.png (550x764, 369K)

When the season is serialized, only the first and last episodes matter.

The STD Season 2 finale was some of the worst shit I'd ever seen though

Which effectively ruins the entire season, because it was all the mattered.

Exactly. They killed the whole thing they were heading towards.

Was the xindi arc of ent good?

It's on the same level as "Lion King salutes 9/11".

Not really. The best episodes had nothing to do with the season plot, and the time travel had no feeling of stakes because it was a prequel series.

That's pretty good then

Fucking incredible ride. I didn't get around to ENT until 2014 and it really was an exhilarating ride.

Some people didn't like the Xindi concept, of multiple types of species reaching sentience on the same planet but I personally loved it and enjoyed their infighting. It had an incredible intrigue and was dark without being "grimdark". Johnathan Archer had to bend the rules multiple times to get his crew through the expanse.

Attached: The_virgin_present_tense_and_the_Chad_temporal_agent.jpg (1920x1080, 232K)

The best.

Attached: Lion King September 11.jpg (397x300, 25K)

Literally nobody liked the temporal war shit.
Like, not only is it a prequel series to time travel villains are weak, but the whole presentation was done in such an esoteric way. A 'war' where a viewer cannot engage in or see is incredibly dumb.

The only good thing about Enterprise was that it was so awful that the franchise was shelved for a few years and pried from Berman's hands.

>A 'war' where a viewer cannot engage in or see is incredibly dumb.
But budget-friendly. Think of the studio, user, think of the studio!

For the most part, yeah. It was still mostly episodic so it wasn't a 24-hour long mega-episode like in the binge age. Most importantly I liked the new characters, particularly Degra.

There was something familiar about the way he would kept meeting with his buddy from the future, trying to put right what once went wrong, and hoping that his next leap would be the leap home.

With STD, not only are the arcs shit, but I hate all of the characters.

Nah it was shit. ENT becomes the 9/11 traumies show pretty hard after the first season and never really develops any unique or memorable characters besides Shran and T'Pol, but I think that's because neither of them have anything to do with the space war. The villains were pretty forgettable, I can't remember anyone besides the fish guy.
I fell asleep halfway through season three and don't remember if I finished the series. The character interactions were interesting sometimes but the main stories never really found anything interesting to say.

Degra did nothing wrong. He just wanted to protect his family. He didn't deserve to die.

Just finished ENT this very minute. What a crummy ending.

Attached: latest.jpg (960x540, 149K)

I wonder if he's secretly in the background of every Trek...

About three years ago

ENT deserved seven seasons. Hell, VOY got seven and the last two were literally about nothing.
It would've been interesting to see ENT end in the "modern era" of television (the 7th season would've aired in 2008)

Just saying "fuck it" is not things changing, it's just lazy.

Attached: At Least it's Content.webm (480x360, 106K)

It's the worst finale of all time. It always cracks me up that the show was so bad the only way they felt they could compel audiences was to make it 99% about fucking Riker.

Hysterical.

hi vee

Shit got pretty intense when Hoshi got kidnapped...

On the bright side, Orville is getting a 3rd season next year.

Quantum leap is good

Does anybody have that pic where they compare adult Wesley from the show with how Wil Wheaton looks now?

I maintain that had the non-holodeck sequences be set on the Titan it would have been far better.

Enterprise should have ended with Sam leaping out.

Attached: ac9ad087f10980f0386e936c518c5669.jpg (465x750, 72K)

Watched it recently for the first time and I thought it was good

this 'change' can go to hell

Nah, nah. That's why he could never leap out. Because Archer kept fucking up.

There are still rumors of a movie script being ready to pick up where the series ended.

Will Wheaton is such a faggot, he is singlehandedly the reason why I prefer DS9 and VOY as a whole to TNG.

And yes, the 'Will' spelling was intentional, 'Wil' is not an acceptable spelling.

imagine being this user

imagine not hating WW

Mostly good with just a small amount of bad when Hoshi gets abducted by le space psychic. The episode Similitude might be my favorite Enterprise episode.

Attached: triptucker.png (680x449, 484K)

No, MU-Worf IS gay, otherwise he would've told Garak "I'm not gay." Saying "You're not my type" just means he's not into Cardassians, which means Prime Worf is straight AND into Cardassians.

Was he Neelix's mentor?

Attached: 1566184362184.jpg (480x360, 38K)

Bald Delenn is best Delenn.

Or he's Bisexual. Which is why what he desired and got from Riker was a Klingon tranny. Only bisexual people like trannies. If you're straight, you want a woman with real tits and an actual vagina. If you're gay, you want a dude with a penis. When you are bisexual, you are accepting of something that is a mixture of both.

no, that would be chell

No, Neelix learnt from his own species. He had a severely repressed upbringing and was regularly abused by both of his own parents. He buried the memories deep, but when he lost his family the memories resurfaced and that's when he became a sexual predator.

Wait, you're telling me he might be THE Pedogenitor?

bitching about STD is boring

God, the uniforms look like such shit. Why does every uniform or super hero costume these days look like some kind of futuristic motorcycle jacket? I hate that style.

boring is boring

They didn't think they had to. They hold you in such low regard because autistic fanboys will fork over cash as long as it has the brand name on it. You're all useless eaters to them.

I haven't watched STD. Is there a reason why the crew of the Enterprise are wearing uniforms that resemble the TOS uniforms and the other characters don't?

To make the Enterprise "special" and stick out more. Also the apparent reason why only the Enterprise has tube-shaped nacelles and white hull color so that no one confuses another ship for it.
They think the audience is stupid.

I think they try to explain it with "Oh, you've got the new uniforms!" or something like that.

To me "cringe" had always just been a word to express disapproval with a poster, but watching that first webm actually made my face crumple and I realised I was really cringing.

So this is what it sounds like when Hollywood hacks with no interest in actual science or science fiction try to write science fiction? No surprise since this is from some of the same idiots who made Bayformers.

Attached: a-tale-of-two-captains-left-genevieve-bujold-during-her-brief-time-on-star-trek-voyager-right.jpg (1300x650, 58K)

Lol at you thinking they were going to honor canon in any way, shape, or form.

Originally they had forgotten to create an Engineering section. Rodenberry found out there were no plans for one, and whipped up a short scene to force them to build one in the pilot. If he hadn't it might have simply never been budgeted for later.

you will never buy it, disney shill

I always really liked Janeway's casting. Mulgrew had that sultry, Patricia Neal voice. I always thought they were related, even.

Voyager is generally a well-cast show. Whatever its problems, casting wasn't one of them.

Geneviève Bujold

Jesus, that's an incredible oversight for Gene to make. It's hard to imagine Trek without an engineering section, given how hard the shows lean on technobabble as plot devices.

I learned something today. Thanks, user.

you can find original pilot scenes on youtube

No, based Picard kept shitcanning them. He went through Engineers like a hemophiliac through a pack of band-aids. Eventually he realized that Kunta-Kinte up there would do as he was told and wouldn't back-talk massah.

Actually, yes. Starfleet updates the uniform every so often, and while STD S2 takes place right after S1, during S1, they were MIA for over a year because the spore jump to the alternate universe. During that period, starfleet updated the uniforms to the enterprise ones, and when discovery finally got back they were thrown in to a shitshow almost immediately and didn't bother updating their uniforms. And now that they're once again in the future and have gone rogue from starfleet, chances are they'll continue to keep the current uniform.

This is one of the most terrible opinions I've ever read. I love the campy, shitty hand to hand combat in Trek. It's perfectly acceptable because that isn't what Star Trek is about. Do /trek/ posters strike you as the sort of people to "let things go"?

To the forces of evil.

It's not a surprise that this guy has one of the worst reputations of any executive in the business.

You will get my joke, phoneposting faggot. Your snarky comment is garbage. I bloody well know the CGI is bad.

hit me with that elab, N

He was the bad guy on Star Trek: Enterprise. He literally killed the show and Star Trek as we know it.

I'll take the name now.

The image is from ST: Discovery, not ENT.

Tripfags get the hatchet in my new order.

Almost on season 6 of voyager

Captain mommy has a different personality in every episode, what's going on

And what was with the episode where Paris gets demoted?

>voyager decides to investigate water planet
>native aliens meet voyager, charge weapons, say go away please from our planet
>Janeway: well we have bigger guns than you, so we're going to do what we want
>aliens: oh ok, what do you want

Damn, it's a good thing that you're a deeply closeted neckbeard that will never amount to anything in that case.

People act differently in different situations. That's what makes Janeway compelling.

>posts the tripfag after spending 14 hours posting in a Star Trek general

Hurtful comments that sting and cause tears are not cool

You're coming off as arrogant and high-minded.

if this isn't the prime example of zoomer boomer buzzwords: the post, I don't know what is

I prefer NTT to the other trips, to be honest. He might be a prick but at least his posts are worth reading because he's smart.

And the thread is alive again.

You're welcome, fags.

Quick math quizz:
If you spent 14 hours every day on /trek/ for 2 months, how much money could you have made if you spent that time applying yourself?

greentexting killed /trek/

WoW Classic comes out tomorrow. As a card-carrying neckbeard, I feel obligated to alter my schedule so that I wake up as close to launch as possible. It's perfectly logical and exceptionally efficient to shitpost for fourteen hours a day.

Why can't you two get along?

I don't like her man

Up to this point, Picard, Sisko and Kirk all seemed like they were level-headed, were respected authority figures and like able at the same time

Janeway just seems like she's never in control of the situation, or she's really arrogant, or gives anyone anything they want if they really want something, even if it's going to risk the entire crew.

Fucking Tuvix man, she didn't even try to come up with an alternative way of preserving Tuvix and bringing them back. The second a method was found, it was off to your death.

I worked and played a six hour session of D&D with my pals all while shitposting on a Mongolian basket weaving forum about Star Trek. Measure your accomplishments against my own and find yourself the lesser man.

because tripfags think this is twitter and crave attention

That's kinda sad.

pls talk about star trek, not tripcodeabuse.
thank you.

>being a youngfag
Before Yea Forums, before even YTMND, there were countless forums strewn across the internet where people (probably your parents or people your parents' age) shitposted vigorously about Star Trek. All of these people posted with names. Some of them were indeed attention whores -- it's true. Most of them, however, were just people who liked talking about Star Trek.

Now, going by your very limited experience, you must think that such a place would be a hellish pit where people were held accountable for their opinions and built up track records that others would often cite in arguments against them. And yes, there is truth to that but the cancer was marginal compared to Yea Forums. And I know what you're going to say: "But Yea Forums is built around anonymity! It goes against the culture of the site and the culture of the board! Tripfags must die, REEEE!" but this ultimately reveals itself as the battle cry of the pea-brained impotents when you consider that generals themselves are a violation of Yea Forums's established and original cultural norms.

TL;DR generals already shit on Yea Forums's principles and this in a general so stop being a whiny faggot and talk about Star Trek

Attached: 1566760906938.jpg (804x743, 98K)

Jesus fucking Christ! What a pompous, self righteous, entitled snot nosed dickhead.

Search your feelings, anons, you know it to be true. Generals are inevitably a betrayal of what Yea Forums is all about, no different than putting on a trip when you're not the OP.

Why do you come here and post in this general every day? Because you like recognizing posters, recognizing memes. You enjoy the familiarity of it, or else you'd just make a random thread about a Trek-related topic and keep the discussion centered on said topic to the best of your ability. But you don't do that. None of you do.

Instead, you come here where we parrot the same stale jokes to each other, post the same stale images to each other, talk about tripfag drama, force memes, and ultimately seek out a very specific experience that wouldn't be the same if /trek/ was different in any way. If you really hated tripfags and you were annoyed by them, why the fuck would you post in a thread where they shit things up constantly?

Because at the end of the day, you fucking love it, you degenerate. The sooner you admit it, the better for your mental health.

>looking at her face
>looking at her hair

There was a /trek/ before tripfags. We would discuss the show, laugh about funny episodes and cry at the sad ones. Tripfags and not least their enablers, have ruined /trek/ with their constant shit. Please spend your time elsewhere.

Attached: Data - Eyes Forward.jpg (783x587, 53K)

I'm off to work out. See you fags later.

Pretty good, didn't expected Archer stealing a warp core from an innocent ship, wonder if those dudes made it home.

>no feeling of stakes because it was a prequel series

I liked the temporal war, it had stakes and changed shit on the past enough to break the timeline apart from the prime universe.

was it kino?

Attached: kjnbhgqwejkh.jpg (1280x960, 315K)

>there was a /trek/ before tripfags
Yeah, for a couple of months. And then we got the sexual organs poster, the Dukautist, people who reposted the same things constantly and became instantly recognizable. Because that's what generals do -- they create cults of personality around certain posters. Tripfagging was an inevitability and that's why they're in every general on this site from Yea Forums to /tg/. By posting here, by encouraging the stagnancy of no topic threads where people just shitpost, you're entirely complicit in the way things have turned out. If you didn't like it, you'd leave like any sort of rational person.

I've used this trip for a couple of weeks, tops, weighed against years of posting in /trek/ anonymously and the general wasn't higher quality before I tripped, nor will it be once my experiment ends. I would say that, one day, you fags will have to take responsibility and realize that /you/ were always the problem but that'll never happen because there's no accountability here.

lol calm down faggot

>Male camel toe
Man, Next gen had a rough 1st season.

>Generals are inevitably a betrayal of what Yea Forums is all about
No they aren't you delusional fuckwit, stop trying to justify being an attention whore. Generals serve a purpose, throwing on a trip when you don't provide anything unique at all or don't need to be recognized does not, save for being an attention whore.
>Why do you come here and post in this general every day?
I don't, I stop by every so often to discuss trek, but the thread never reciprocates because faggots like you have ruined it
>you like recognizing posters, recognizing memes
I don't
>You enjoy the familiarity of it, or else you'd just make a random thread about a Trek-related topic
Except that there's already a general for that sort of thing you absolute mongoloid, so why would I make a whole new thread? That would defeat the purpose of the general
>If you really hated tripfags and you were annoyed by them, why the fuck would you post in a thread where they shit things up constantly?
Because I can hope for a better thread without you wannabe e-celebs shitting everything up, however small that chance may be
>Because at the end of the day, you fucking love it, you degenerate. The sooner you admit it, the better for your mental health.
You are legitimately mentally unwell, seek treatment for your unhealthy narcissism

The space battle looked ridiculous, it was the opposite of the battle of the Resurrection Ship from BSG. They had thousands of shuttles coming from the notEnterprise and the Discovery. They had some weird glittery flak clouds, it was weird.
