Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that this was kino?

I am still convinced that everyone who liked this movie was paid
still waiting on my check
it was pleb filter
Yes. It's in my top 3 sw movies.
Kek. This
no faggot it wasn't. Its just as shitty as Rehash Awakens (or even worse)
not only was it bad but it retroactively made episode 7 worse.
Abso-fucking-lutely not.
this, close thread
Agreed
*better
Only if "kino" means "crap".
the amount of five star glowing reviews i saw was enough to completely dismantle the last shred of faith i had in the integrity of reviewers
nice bait
It's very good, there's just some stupid hivemind against it. The reasons for disliking it are so vapid I can only assume that Yea Forums as a whole has gotten dumber, as opposed to being high IQ outcasts of yesteryear
>hurr why didn't Holdo tell her plan
>hurr hyperspace ram is dumb
>hurr I dislike the casino planet
agree
the last SNEED
It's garbage. Making Star Wars movies past ROTJ was a mistake
>I, Rebel in A
Opinion disregarded
the only thing good I can say about it is that at times it had an incredibly slick look to it but even that wasn't consistent
The casino planet was legit awful, but everything else was really great
Wow ya got me!
The exact tier list of someone who has never thought for themselves in their entire life
Pretty much this. If they spent the casino time on something worthwhile like snokes origin (I don't care if it doesn't matter or if he was a red herring, I'd still like to know) or the state of the Galaxy in the ST, which instead can only be found in the books
Best movie in the franchise
>the state of the Galaxy in the ST
I'd argue that, while barebones, this is touched on in the Canto Bight sidequest. We learn that there are profiteers from both sides that are banking on war.
Yeah but that only scratches the surface. We still don't even know what the First Order is or what makes the Resistance different from the Republic or even the Rebellion. I mean, a lot of it is common knowledge now THANKS to the books, but if you were binging the trilogy for the first time, you would still have no fucking idea over halfway in.
We know most of the scenes that explained this stuff were cut from Episode 7, specifically Leia's scenes. We know they are using old footage of her for 9 now, so hopefully they will finally explain it.
I just hate the concept of going the entire trilogy without really knowing any of the backstory here. It feels like there is an entire trilogy they skipped over and we just need to kinda live with the ignorance
outside of destroying the development of several characters, it was the most frustrating movie i've ever seen. throughout the entire story, they got literally nothing accomplished, and ended off worse than they started. the only things that they really succeeded in doing ended up being a waste of time, or done for nothing. basically the equivalent of "it was all just a dream" imo
it's completely unable to resolve its own critiques of the series and just handwaves them away in the most half assed way but expects audiences to suddenly buy into the commercialized schmaltz.
for example, take finn's descent into radicalism when confronted with the "both sides" rhetoric of dj. the resolution is rose's infamous speech which is completely nonsensical despite it being the climax of his arc. the reason is that rian is unable to comprehend how or why a person can escape radical ideology or why luke would abandon his nihilism. luke returns after being lied to and manipulated by yoda. only by burying his head in the sand, turning away from adulthood to an imitation of a child's nerd fantasy is rian able to cope with his disturbed worldview.
