>Is that cork? You know, cork is good for sound.
Unironically this
let me show you a picture of my pride and joy.
Both Scorsese and De Niro cringe at this movie. They don't like it at all.
Scorsese is a lot better with Schoonmaker editing his movies.
This is a great film
>According to an interview with Lewis in the February 7, 1983, edition of People magazine, he claimed that Scorsese and De Niro employed method acting tricks, including making a slew of anti-Semitic epithets during the filming in order to "pump up Lewis's anger"
After Hours is better than both
I know Scorsese doesn't think much of this movie, but De Niro wanted to do this one and dragged Marty along as he did for Raging Bull, when Marty was fucked up with cocaine abuse.
In today's reality show era, this movie is more prescient than ever. Pupkin is just a slightly more civilized Bickle.
After Hours is better than both
Hence the 'SO DID HITLER!' line. De Niro also refused a dinner invitation from Lewis, as his character wanted to blow his head off.
Wrong.
>WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!?
>MOOOOOOM! PLEASE STOP CALLING ME!
based
And they're right, this movie was very uncomfortable to watch, it's very unnerving
Creepy as fuck and brilliant.
agreed
good, but not better
So the whole third act was in his head right?
The King of Comedy is more my style. I went in without knowing anything. Truly enhanced my viewing.
No. It's kino but not better than Taxi Driver.

Maybe this part was in his head (similar to the Taxi Driver ending, post-rampage), but I accept it as real.
it was all in his head
I think they were upset at the film's reception but I don't think they're disowned the movie. It's not like De Niro has taste, anyway.
That's the appeal.
Times you acted like Rupert:
>yell at mom for making a ruckus upstairs
Classic
Pretend to be interviewed in a talkshow.
based.
Was his mother actually real
taxi driver's writer confirmed the ending was real
don't overthink king of comedy's ending too much, scorsese is very upfront with his ideas and symbolism. he's the same one who wrote the rat at the end of the departed after all
More like King of Boringness.
No. but its still a very good film, one of Scorsese best
"best"
I'll take the following movies over it:
Mean Streets
Alice doesn't live here anymore
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Goodfellas
Wolf of Wall Street
Pretty much only nu-Scorcese movies are worse than it.
difficult comparison, since they're totally different
