What do you think of the original Mad Max?

the first was a confusing mess but almost ok, the 2nd was KINO, the third was less icomprehensible but ok

Almost good

The 2 things everyone remembers about mad max are tina turner and just walk away. nobody remembers the first film.

The second one and Fury Road are kino.

It isn't nearly as great as 2 and FR but if still much better than BTD. It is kind of the odd one out of the series because it takes place on the verge of the apocalypse as things are getting bad but the state still exists. It shouldn't make it feel that different from the others but it does. Its also a lot more grounded.

Boring.

OUT OF CONTROL

It's the best one
It doesn't appeal to gamer kiddies whose main impression of the franchise is dude big crazy cars muh guzzoline lmao
But it's the best film of the series

never watched it
i prefer the japanese remake

Attached: 129558.jpg (1280x720, 159K)

It's fucking shit, the world building pure non existent

This. It really began with The Road Warrior.

Only actual good film in the franchise

max is actually mad, which doesn't happen in the next episodes and especially fury road

>world building
What exposition could you possibly need that was absent

Isn't most of Australia like the Mad Max world now?

Basically. There aren't motorcycle gangs because you can't carry enough water to keep you alive traveling between the brief, scant islands of something like civilisation the way you can in a ute. But otherwise yeah.

Overrated

so Tina Turner is an boriginal princess?

damn Gibson was a looker... no homo

reminds me of Shawn Michaels HBK from the mid 90s...

hell of a looker too...

no homo guys.

Better than Fury Road.

It's good but it's no master kinopiece like the motherfucking ROAD WARRIOR. Thunderdome is a pile of shit though.

>Mad Max
first watch - so awful. could not pay attention. felt like it dragged on too long.
second watch - everything makes sense. film seems shorter for some reason. actually pretty good.

>Road Warrior
Just pure kino

>Fury Road
shows you in a world with violence, carnage, and survival that we are nothing without our human nature: boys and men need love, nurture, comfort from women and boys need to be taught to protect and help their women. And also that in desperate situations women should be brave enough to try anything to protect their loved ones.

>Thunderdome
Too Hollywood. Too much tinkering and fine-tuning. Very hollow re-imagining of Road Warrior. I hated it and will never watch it again.

user, can't we get beyond thunderdome?

I AM THE NIGHT RIDER!
REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU LOOK UP AT THE NIGHT SKY!

Maybe if you bust the deal.

The first movie is still the best one. Road Warrior is hideously overrated.

>Thunderdome is a pile of shit though.
Untrue and singlesexual.

he is mad in fury road. he has long hair and a big beard at the beginning of the film. he constantly hallucinates throughout the movie.

Fun fact: The leader of the motorcycle gang in the original Mad Max is the same actor who plays Immortan Joe in Fury Road.

>talking shit about the original with masterclass appearances by Toecutter, founding the seeds for who would later be Immortan Joe

fucking reeks of plebs in here

This. The first one was basically a fetish piece with revenge. The second was a post apocalyptic Western. The third was a high budget overstretched version of the second and Fury Road was a carbon reboot of the second as well.

based and redpilled

Very much true. There is nothing redeeming on that piece of shit and I've looked for 25 years now. It wasn't good when I was a kid and it's even worse now.

I don't get it. If Beyond Thunderdome is such a piece of shit, then why does it have so many homages and parodies?

I thought Road Warrior is objectively the best film?

Like with Rambo, most people think the franchise started out with the second movie.

how is it a "carbon reboot"

It's the best of the series. The second is also very strong in most aspects but the world building is terrible and I'll stick by that opinion.
World being shit with heavy disorder but still having a base civilization >>> primitivist fetichism about constant 24/7 loot and rape and zero infrastructure

name five

>. There is nothing redeeming on that piece of shit and I've looked for 25 years now.
No wonder you hate it, it's taken you 25 years just to watch it. I think your copy may have some errors that drag it out, user.

>first watch - so awful. could not pay attention. felt like it dragged on too long.
>second watch - everything makes sense. film seems shorter for some reason. actually pretty good.
This is a thing people don't really mention all that much. On a first watch, especially if you watch them in release order for the first time, Mad Max is plain unwatchable. Only once you got used to the franchise as a whole and see where all the callbacks from later movies come from and how Max as a character develops later on will Mad Max become ok to watch. It's like Miller's whole life has been dedicated to make Mad Max a better movie in retrospect.

I liked the incredibly homoerotic undertones I guess

Attached: Capture+_2017-11-21-00-10-511.png (202x192, 77K)

I know right... almost sounds like a dystopian post apocalyptic society. Shits crazy man, I wonder if that was millers plan. Dumbass.

Comfy-Apocalypse kino

Honestly I wonder how there aren't more stories about how fans started rioting in theatres when Thunderdome released. I just rewatched all three movies last week and it is absolutely jarring how awful Thunderdome is. The shitty comedy stuff right at the beginning really sucks all the life out of you. And it just keeps getting worse. WHY THE FUCK IS MASTER WEARING THIS SILLY SUIT AT THE END???

Attached: Thunderdome_Photo8.jpg (643x365, 228K)

was the first Mad Max supposed to be in a past apocalypse world? because it looked like normal day Australia with green everywhere and some fetish cops hunting leather fetish criminals

Dr. Dre ft. Tupac - California Love
Borderlands series
Fallout series
Any show or film that parodies anything post-apocalyptic ever

>how is it a "carbon reboot"

>Max shows up
>hates everyone
>helps them to help himself
>becomes heroic
>leaves

Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat.

>thunderdome apologists

What? Plebs like this exist? Look user just because you thought it was good 25 years ago doesn't make it true. You were wrong then and obviously haven't grown a brain since.

>how fans started rioting in theatres when Thunderdome released.
That never happened, America loved that film and it gave Tina Turner a huge boost in popularity. And yeah, they played the song from the movie on the radio all the time back then. Really, this retconning is uncool.
Ironic edit.
t. not a zoomer

one thing that pisses me off about all Mad Max movies is that we never see him actually drive his nice V8 more than 5 minutes at a time. he always crashes or gets crashed/robbed and we never see the car again for the rest of the movie

Attached: max-car.jpg (2304x1728, 1.62M)

Everyone loved it and it got the shit played out of it on Showtime (or was it HBO?) besides being sold-out in the cinemas. It was more popular that The Road Warrior for a time.

Hell, why the fuck are those kids moving from what's basically a garden eden in this shithole of a world to a goddamn ruined Sydney that's probably full of pedophiles ,rapists, cannibals, and pedophile rapist cannibals?

I watched it after Road Warrior actually. Initially I was really pissed off when I found out that all the important events in Mad Max are summed up in the prelude of Road Warrior.

the world gets progressively more apocalyptic with every movie

I agree, I have no idea why this is considered some iconic car when all the memorable moments of the franchise are Max out of that car

>Mad Max is plain unwatchable

How?

just like Rambo the first film can be ignored.

I want to drive this car so bad

Not them, but Mad Max has bad cinematography, lousy editing, horrid sound design, cheap special effects, and almost no world-building.

Just because people see something and it's popular doesn't make it good user. You sound like a zoomer or a dad of a boomer who doesn't know any better. Either way the movie is fucking shit and it was always shit and it will forever be shit.

Can someone tell me why his wife and kid ran straight down the middle of the road when those dudes were about to run them down? I mean right down the middle of the fucking road. The fuck you doing, bitch?

He is never destined to own it. Curse really.
It is like the lost civilization, almost...
and its gone...

By being bad.
Don't assume my gender to possibly not be male you homo.

Nobody cares, dumbfuck. Have sex.

They're all dead retard, the cities were empty.

Lousy tasteless faggots. First Max is kino. The way it shows a post-Apocalyptic world where the Apocalypse hasn't yet hit its corner/is slow moving is genius. Just a tight thriller.

The series gets more comic booky as it goes which is great but first is as good a start as you could get.

Attached: 910w8uu1kWL._SX342_.jpg (342x430, 43K)

car trips of truth

1, 2 and 4 are good
3 is average.

The front of the car gets damaged at the beginning of the second movie, sucks hard.

>1
pretty cool but can't remember much

>2
poetry

>3
>why does max have a mullet? why is his friend trying to bomb him? where are the cars? okay it looks like it's picking up now
>peter pan bullshit starts
alt+f4

>4
Ehh, okay, cool effects and all but no magic.
The only moment that harkened back to the original was when the old plant lady gave her stuff to one of the babes.

>Don't assume my gender to possibly not be male you homo.
Your reply makes no sense.

the first Rambo film is just as good as the second

First Blood is way better than Rambo lol.

120060950
You don't even deserve a (You)

>you sound like you're younger than me, or maybe older than me, but definitely not the same age as me
lol

That's just the archetype for the heroic western.
Outsider with the skills of Indians helps the settlers fend off against the Indians but can't join society itself.

To me First Blood is the first Rambo film.

TRW>=FR>1st half of Thunderdome>MM>2nd half of Thunderdome.

That being said, the Nightrider sequence from MM is kino.

More like Rambo is the 2nd first blood movie. It's only in the title and all...

>Fury Road was supposed to star Mel as an utterly insane and feral Max around 50-60 years old, can't even speak anymore, rebuilt the Interceptor just to retain some hold on his memories, rocking back and forth muttering listening to a broken radio for the order from the police that he can come back home, and was supposed to be love interest with Furiosa and reclaim his humanity at the end and find peace

imagine if we got that kino instead of Bane mumbling

Attached: 1566599869072.jpg (330x237, 19K)

lol indeed. Beyond Thunderdome was massively popular.

First Blood was a god damn drama or thriller at worst.

Rambo was the iconic action movie that started a franchise.

christ.. I hope this is a meme

Attached: 1310067287011.jpg (350x334, 13K)

Oh wow lol go fuck yourself zoomer. You don't know a god damn thing about anything. 1 more weekend and you're all gone and I can't wait.

There is a lot of rape.

>cant join society itself

Attached: JUST rage.gif (404x347, 1003K)

Rambo 2 is honestly boring, especially the 2nd half

imagine being THIS dumb

Attached: conbel.jpg (375x411, 26K)

theyre retards, the movie is great

yea i agree, the "pre-apocalyptic" setting is my favourite thing and only thing i like about mad max 1

the original mad max was filmed mostly in my suburb/town, i drive on those roads every day, ama.

the whole area is heavily developed now and most of those country roads are now covered with houses and concrete.
also there is lots of indian and muslim immigrants here.

Attached: 42457568.jpg (739x412, 40K)

>defending obvious trash

Found the missing link. Did you feel a kinship with the master blaster reveal?

first mad max is still the best one. pure authentic kino.
IM A ROCKER
IM A ROLLER

Watched Fury Road for the first time few days ago and what a disappointment that was. It was a serviceable action movie, but if you really think it can touch any of the classics, you have been watching way too much capeshit.

I grew up on 1 and 2 and have seen them both so many times. My dad even got the Australian version of 1 on dvd because he loved the movie. Only saw 3 once and it sucks. Saw Fury Road at the premiere and loved it.
1 = 2 > 4 >>>> 3

i dont understand what people like about the second mad max movie. the scenery is pretty lively i guess?

A cult classic. But it didn't feel like it set in a post-apocalyptic world.

The ending chase is legitimate legendary cinema worthy of all accolades. When I first watched it I was pretty pissed so much was centered around the Interceptor which gets destroyed the moment Max gets behind the wheel again but it doesn't bother me so much these days.

Another man's junk is another man's treasure. Like you for instance, you like dick and that's your treasure but to me... that's just junk.

i'll never watch it because it's old and boring

pic not-related. That's from the Road Warrior not the original Mad Max.

Honestly I don't even blame you for having such a shit opinion. You were obviously raised by a single cracked out mother with random dudes coming in and out of your life and now it shows in your adulthood.

kinda slow, but I dig it. Didn't really explain anything aside from the fact that it's just a normal day in Australia.

At some point they stop being undertones and just become tones

it kinda seemed to me like the directors only remembered a plot was supposed to happen after an hour, the pacing was strange. What it did do well was establising the setting, which was somewhat pointless since MadMax2 just replaced the setting with nuclear wasteland anyway

It is. Gibson was supposed to play Max in the early 2000's version of Fury Road. Gibson himself said that he was too old and busted to play Max again, and he felt that Miller was actually trying to kill him with all of the stunts he put Max into like walking on moving trucks and shit.

Did you find the bones of that guy that almost died in Road Warrior?

>MadMax2 just replaced the setting with nuclear wasteland anyway
No, that's just Australia.
