After Rogue One, the answer is no he is not.

They handed the movie to someone with a particular vision, then later figured out they didn't like it and tried to change it dramatically only to come up with a movie that was mediocre and not really talked about at this point. They're obviously not holding the directors hands enough to have a cohesive vision which should be obvious after they switched between JJ and Rian, one enjoying the use of mystery boxes in his stories while the other liked "subverting expectations" by opening the boxes to reveal nothing inside. These were not styles that meshed well together.
