I think Tartakavsky's style is actually a bit over rated. You can see the cost cutting measures everywhere. It's like he wanted to do action anime, but didn't have anywhere near the budget.

None of the plot threads in season 5 were resolved. Though I'm guessing Ventress will get ignored since they adapted her final TCW story arc into novels.

Honestly I'm pissed about this season because from the trailers it seems like we aren't getting the Bad Batch and Yoda arc, the Cad Bane and Boba arc, and the entire thing seems focused on Ahsoka when everyone already knows how it's going to happen because they gave her her own fucking novel. Literally the two arcs everyone wanted to see are gone, and we're just going to see a tv version of shit we already know.

there was supposed to be another bad batch arc. The one they're doing this season is just finished animation of the unfinished episodes they released on starwars.com. The seige of mandalore was covered in the ahsoka book and the other episodes are just gonna be ahsoka wanking.

Considering how bad most western animation looks, I think he did ok presenting action while not compromising his art style. Plus his animated series are probably some of the best characterization to ever come out of the prequels. Literally better than the source material in every way.

Unfortunately the majority is stupid enough to think that 12 episodes of clone wars means that Disney is going to give star wars fans everything they want, the majority including op. As soon as the season comes out, everyone is gonna be like "STAR WARS IS BACK AGAIN GUYS ITS TOTALLY GONNA BE DIFFERENT!!!!!" when really Disney will just do the same shit they were doing when they first brought back star wars. Fans will get mad again, Disney will bring something back to appease them for a while again(the obi-wan series for example) and the cycle will repeat with Disney controlling the minds of these npcs.

Why do you people still not understand that the team that did the older Clone Wars series? Lucasfilm is a subsidiary, Disney doesn't actually sit in on the production of the show. They don't produce it, they distribute. It's why the new trilogy has had no direction or plan, it's been multiple creative hands and almost a dozen directors at this point.

There are little nuggets of decent stuff -- like the interactions between the Clone Troopers, and the fact that Anakin is 70% less whiny in TCW -- but both series and all of the satellite material seems like it was made on a dare. Like, "I bet you couldn't sell desperate manchildren crap like 'lightsaber crystals are sentient and Sith sabers are red because the crystals are sad'" level dares. And you all buy it because you're so desperate for Star Wars that you've forgotten why you like Star Wars in the first place. You just have a Pavlovian response to yellow logos.

The point was that the well-trained soldiers slaughtered their officers on the command of the civilian leader of the military.

The Jedi weren't sacred, and they weren't the only commanding officers. They were a separate religious body that wasn't accountable to any kind of political process that served in an auxiliary capacity. I absolutely bought that there were contingency plans that the Senate had in case the Jedi were seen as attempting to take over the military.

Most of this is crap, but bringing Maul back and giving Anakin an apprentice don't ruin the setting even if you think they're unnecessary to make a good clone wars cartoon.
The really questionable stuff is the deeper lore changes like the force gods, microchips, mandalore, dathomirians, etc. It was far too clumsy and overreaching or done with uncharacteristic sloppiness to cause outright retconning, which star wars had previously been surprisingly successful in avoiding.
But at the end of the day even the bad ideas weren't done with as much laziness or stupidity as the rebels stuff. What I mean is that people who liked Maul or Ventress for example might still like CW, or get that people with insufficient skill applied bad ideas to them with good intentions, but could someone who liked old-EU Thrawn like Thrawn in rebels?
