Hell yeah! Black Panther 2 and Gemma Chan as Sersi! I really hope Gemma Chan makes her mark as Sersi than she was playing as Minn-Erva. Seriously can't wait for Black Panther 2, but I want them to cool down with the CGI fight scenes and cool down with the colors on Black Panther's suit. Black Panther's suit is so much better when it's all black and little silver. That purple color was only cool during the night scene, but in the day scene the color purple on the suit looks weird.
Why is no one talking about this?
I didn’t think much of the first one, it was ok for a one time watch but nothing special.
I found it really hard to get immersed in the wakandan world. It didn’t really fit that they were super technologically advanced yet had primitive tribal rituals that could change the entire outcome of their future.
Plus some of the acting was so bad it totally ruined any immersion.
Who even is Gemma Chan? Some kind of porn star? I see her name all the time but I've never seen anything with her in it, and if I have I didn't know it.

>Yea Forums still assblasted it wasn't a flop.
I
Only Andy was good in it and even the director regrets killing off Claw. What a dumb move.
*rap music intensifies*
I wish they have more scenes in an actual jungle, you know, when he first appeared in the movie, i liked that
G
Rigjt? I get that Wakanda is super advanced and whatnot but black panther should be doing black panther shit, stalking, stealthing, recon, infultration and some ass kicking. That ritual shit surmounted by conversations in Star Trek BLEEP BLOOP rooms missed the mark imo and it made mehate the movie...which sucks because I love the character.
>look at all these original designs.
I've seen fucking sentai teams with more suit variety.
G
Honestly, black panther just makes me sad.
The movie was utterly generic in almost all ways, with the few interesting ideas it had being relegated to idiocy.
>African society that split off from its neighbors thousands of years ago is somehow basically identical to any other tribe. Fuckers even have LASER SPEARS! because thats all black people are known for right? Being fucking African tribesmen who chose their leaders through fucking bloodsport. Honestly, it struck me as pretty goddamn racist. Good thing African Americans fetishize their supposed heritage so much it blinds them to the flanderization of their entire race. Hell, they applaud it.
>Vibranium is now pure magic. Its not just a metal that absorbs impact, it can literally do fucking ANYTHING. Somehow a metal that absorbs impacts allowed them to develop goddamn spaceships and energy shields and nano-tech and fucking anything. Should have had the MC's scientist sister say "Its vibranium, I ain't gotta explain shit!"
>The villains legitimately good points about how Wakanda was holding back tech from the world are hopelessly muddled by racial ideas. He whines about slavery and how "Our people are being oppressed when you have the technology" as though blacks in america were still enslaved and whites all had Vibranium magi-tech. But no, Wakanda was more advanced and civilized than anyone else (if you ignore the whole blood sport election thing), so why is he focusing on race? Is his idea to just give all sorts of Vibranium tech to inner city kids and gang bangers to wage a non-specific war against...the concept of oppression?
>Why should we care about Wakanda or black panther? He's not an avenger and seems to have very little effect on the world as a whole. Wakanda is still pretty goddamn xenophobic and cut off, with little interaction with the world at large. So why do they matter? They're basically no better than Antman yet have so much imagined importance.
Racist.
Wow, you just hit the nail on the head.
All the asguardian tier tech really ruined it. And the suit was way overpowered.
Focusing on agility, stealth, stalking, recon etc would have made this move 10x better.
Instead of wakandans being technologically advanced they should be more socially advanced, healthier etc kinda Spartan if you catch my drift.
Basically a Wakanda where every man woman and child could mobilise to become the most fearsomely dedicated army.
nobody cares
And I thought the other guy nailed it.
And yes, I thought the movie was incredibly racist towards Africans too. As soon as I watched the movie I tried to find articles on it but all I could find were black people supporting the movie, blindly I guess?
If warmonger became king he would have ruined everything the wakandans had achieved including ending the black panther lineage with him.
Being so advanced it’s kinda strange that no one ever thought that the blood sport was kinda a stupid idea, or that they should move past such barbaric practices.
So I guess technologically they advanced but socially they were inept. Probably the exact reason they refuse to share their technology with the world.
Finally I just found something that lays it all out

. The convoluted relation between tradition and power: In Wakanda, the traditions of old are seemingly revered as holy. But when the King loses in a fair fight, all of the sudden, anything goes. He can breach traditions and retake his power simply because he’s ‘the good guy’. So eventually there is no sanctity of tradition at all. It’s simply about power. The colonial undertone should be clear: ‘Africans are stuck in their traditions. They should abandon them, because power is what truly makes the world go round.’ This becomes amply clear in T’Challa’s relation with Killmonger. One of T’Challa’s great grievances is the fact that his father left a Wakandan kid behind in ‘the hood’ and did not try to save him from his lot (which, of course, could apparently do nothing but make him aggressive). Yet killing that same kid simply because he’s not likeable when he’s a bit older is seemingly OK—even though Killmonger won the traditional battle fair and square. Though morally completely inconsistent, it does remain very consistent with the already mentioned dichotomy of the ‘good’ (pristine African) blacks and ‘bad’ (hoody) blacks. And of course, the ‘bad’ blacks by definition want to take over the world because they hate whites—so they have to be stopped, no matter what tradition or morality dictates.
The role of vibranium (and how it’s the only thing that makes Wakanda ‘advanced’): When Wakanda is an advanced technological country, it’s not because of their inherent intelligence or their approach to society. It’s a ‘coincidence’ and has everything to do with a special resource: vibranium. (It’s also taken for granted they do not wish to share this resource with the rest of the world and that as such it will not only lead to technological advancement but also to conflict.)
>why is no one talking about this
Because it’s gonna be we wuz 2 which is perfectly fine whoever it’s like 10 years away. We know next to nothing so why bother talking about a sequel Ray Charles saw coming?
He was killed off in the comic and came back as a solid sound construct I think
Seems to me like a perfectly timed distraction by Disney to coax the capeshitters back into their side after the Sony debacle.
And it also can't be accidental that everyone's favorite Jon Snow getting cast into The Eternals movie announced at this same time. Everything seems too fishy.
