TFA needed a minute to breathe in its ending. Instead of Rey hugging Leia, it should have been Chewbacca to console her, while Rey meets Poe and together they take Finn for medical attention. Instead she zooms off for Luke and they never meet until the end of TLJ.

This, holy shit this. Kylo Ren is the only character able to generate any empathy towards us. No matter what the black stormtrooper even does or how much screentime he gets, he feels like a secondary/tertiary character, which makes it a chore to get through his scenes. Poe definitely is a tertiary character I mean he fucked off for the entire movie. Yet both of them are being displayed as co-protagonists because there's no other characters to show. Oh and I supposed Disney thinks the korean girl is relevant as well.
And Rey is the protagonist but even she feels irrelevant at times, merely reacting to the things happening around her.
Kylo is the only one who "feels" like a real character you can root for and I don't understand it.

By this point in the OT, 2 movies in, there were plenty of memorable characters and relevant ones that could be your favorites. Leia - Han Solo - Luke were all protagonists, Obi Wan was emblematic, freaking Darth Vader, Lando, Yoda, Bobba Fett and some other aliens I guess.
In the prequels you had Obi Wan & Anakin & Yoda & Mace Windu being important characters, Qui Gon Jinn, Darth Maul, Jango Fett even if he jobbed, the Cancellor Sheev, Count Dooku, General Grievous...
Ah, that's it. This sequel is seriously lacking in "cool" characters. The villain side literally only had Kylo Ren as Snoke and the Knights of Ren never did anything. There's no cool siths nor mechas to provide side entertainment.
And the good guys don't have any big-shot names on their side as well, since Luke and Han Solo got quickly disposed not doing much and the rest of people are random cannon fodder. The movies would be better if there were other powerful characters on both sides. Even Rogue One had the blind monk who was pretty cool.

Hasn't only a week passed in this trilogy so far? I have no clue why any of the characters are doing what they're doing. Poe, I sort of get, but Rey and Finn just keep getting put in situations and reacting to them in ways that make no consistent sense.
