It was appropriate, he needed 3v1 to beat Ghidorah the first time, and the second time he still needed (B)Rodan to fight him, back when Rodan was his equal in size and power

It's the most powerful live action Godzilla and he as a character is close to being called OP by people due to his near indestructibility. The only thing preventing it is that there are specific ways to kill him but he's still a contestant for one of the most powerful characters in fiction.
