Why the fuck cane Hollywood make a decent Superman movie?

>the hero is fucking immortal

>is fast as fuck and can fly
Very boring hero

Brandon Routh is relentlessly handsome. I want to kiss him relentlessly.

this desu

Man of Steel was great. A few shitty moments, but some good stuff in there. I've seen worse.

I liked Returns

The only interesting thing about superman was his Clark Kent dual dynamic. The suspense and story always came from him trying to maintain his - by today's standards - corny alter ego. The actual super hero shit he did was irrelevant. Since modern movies don't emphasize Clark Kent at all his stories are boring beyond compare.

>superman 78
>ok
its the only good movie featuring a superhero ever made. The rest are (at best) good for capeshit

They always try to focus on plot (impossible) and neglect the aesthetics. Unironically needs an arthouse treatment.

always loved that superman returns poster

Kino

Attached: MoS Alex Ross Poster.jpg (800x1200, 248K)

because he is only interesting when you focus on Clark Kent and remember why people love superman. It's not his god like powers that make him superman it's the man behind the powers.
You can't make him a brooding nihilistic passive asshole cause that's not superman cause that's not Clark. There is a reason why Homelander is already more talked about and beloved than snyder's depiction of superman "if he was real". Because he is fucking consistent and they don't pussyfoot like snyder does

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 66K)

They should make a stand alone 3 1/2 hour Superman film based on All-Star Superman.

Attached: A054E01F-250A-44B9-A117-41C24F92B4E1.jpg (445x689, 45K)

god, just from that poster i should have known man of steel was gonna be shit, great soundtrack though

why?
makes you say, how did a pair of handcuffs keep him restrained?
Did he surrender or was forced to submission?
Just like this one, what is he fighting that is tossing him against a vault door and making him catch his breath?

Attached: MoS Vault door.jpg (550x366, 41K)

>Why the fuck cane Hollywood make a decent Superman movie?
MoS was good.

MoS was great you retard.

Weak bait.

Attached: 7AEF8380-D8B7-475D-AE72-AF392D074D3D.jpg (500x625, 48K)

If they do this right, it's borderline Oscar-bait material.

the lighting, the filter, the faces, the idea of him being in cuffs by the military was specifically chosen for controversy and a desperate attempt at intrigue.
Superman posters are always now either him being portrayed like jesus above people or people and governments fearing him.
Nothing like this it's tiresome

man of steel was shit, now if it wasn't a superman film it would be debatable

this, either make him enjoy being good or enjoy being bad, not some on the fence faggot

no, mike, jay, and rich told me i hated it

when will we get a good superman film with cavil?

Attached: supermanrooftop.jpg (1000x1605, 344K)

legit 1 of 2 films i walked out the cinema over
the other was avengers assemble

Tbh making a Superman movie shouldn’t be this hard. But Zack snyder wanted to be an Edgy faggot and Bryan Singer a nostalgia faggot

literally who

The same thing can be said about every fucking superhero you dumb cunt

>not getting Brad bird to direct it
Superman needs a retro aesthetic and larger than life action

Because the retards in WB keep focusing on the wrong things

you realize that is what it was building into another arc?
Also a character like superman is impossible to avoid Christ like parallels.
Can see why the hate for it builds up is easy to hop on.

Every superhero wins. Or the comic book would be over

yeah but that's not clark you fucking imbecile and what arc? Snyder doesn't get the character at all, it's embarrassing

Attached: clark-church.png (604x255, 168K)

It's clear that Snyder would have been more suited for Homelander and the boys rather than at the helm with batman and fucking superman
youtu.be/ylA6Tn8n6Co

youtu.be/ORiGny1m_90

Superman is only as good as the villain. The original superman had a good villain. Lex Luthor is kind of a lightweight, and the rehash of General Zod was just terrible.

>But Zack snyder wanted to be an Edgy faggot
I don't see how Snyder was edgy. His superman is pretty good.

What do people even want from a Superman movie? A flying, global firefighter? That's not Superman, the real comic book Superman busts into people's houses to lecture them about poor social policies and backhands crooked politicians when they talk back.

Superman 1977 is the most important capeshit movie ever made.

The Donner Cut of Superman II is good. Man of Steel is great. BvS is phenomenal. Justice League would have been too, if WB hadn't shat all over it. I'd argue that Superman has about as good a track record as Batman when it comes to film.

This is the dumbest post on Yea Forums. The style, tone, and themes of The Boys and Snyder's DC films couldn't be further removed from each other. They are nothing alike. Just more proof that the people who hate MoS and BvS didn't understand them.

>Superman posters are always now either him being portrayed like jesus above people
You are so full of shit. I don't believe you've read a Superman comic in your life.

> Snyder doesn't get the character at all, it's embarrassing

Attached: DXgb9UQW0AIfgVG.jpg (459x574, 27K)

They need to treat him more like Dr who and focus more on an adventure interesting sci find plot and not so much on muh power levels and monster fights.

MoS was a good attempt at a well made Superman story but it was boring as fuck.

>Snydertard thinking he understands anything

I bet you've only read that shit. All star superman is garbage btw.

Man of Steel is a fantastic movie and you’re a brainwashed, infantilized retard if you think otherwise. May be givenit another once after your balls drop.

Bait

> MCUcock pretend he is capable of rational thinking, kek

There was a plague caused by rats that ravaged Europe in 1340 now there is a new plague caused by Disney that ravages the brain of zoomers. Big yikes

Based DChad dropping truth bombs.

Watch the Death of Superman animated kino, 10x better than any movie about him.

can someone tell me how the fuck did Snyder not try to push an Injustice CU. The Cavill supes is perfect for that storyline and they could easily fit a cinematic universe around it. Hell, Margot Robbie would be regular eye-candy due to Harley's prominence in the story.
The dynamic between bats and supes in BvS is great for set up Injustice, if an off-screen friendship can be realistically shown in tbe brginning of the 1st Injustice.

They basically *did* set it up.

Because Superman didn’t come back alone.

Hahahahahhaa

An attempt at something. It was shit

Attached: based_spiderman.gif (220x199, 804K)

What are you talking about? Superman 1 and 2 are great, both versions of 2. Superman Returns and Man of Steel aren’t great, but they’re still good

Attached: 8E0471ED-B185-487D-B558-F06873FC059F.jpg (1640x2500, 501K)

MOS is being shat on because of
>muh 911 QQ never4get

It's actually the most realistic depiction of what it would look like if super advanced aliens came to earth to battle one another.

They made Captain America perfectly. They also made Iron Man perfectly. If you can get Marvel's versions of Superman and Batman right... then why in the fuck can't you get the DC characters right? It boggles the mind.

Iron Man stopped being Iron Man halfway into Iron Man 2. Captain America is so bland that he’s impossible to get wrong.

The MoS and BvS incarnations are more faithful to their source material and central themes than any other comics films ever made. That *is* neophyte Superman. That *is* the depressed, cynical, obsessed, end-arc Batman.

UGHH MCUcocks at it again. How many time are we gonna humiliate you. Every fucking thread is the same shit, and yet here you are again. Is this some kind of fetich or what !!

>>the hero is fucking immortal
This is fine and has been deconstructed many times
>>can kill anyone
Typical stu/su
>>is fast as fuck and can fly
>Very boring hero
Nah Hollywood just suck atm
The boys did it right make it dark and gritty but balance it well.
Something mcu and dc have yet to do well outside of the Nolan and shazam kino raimi spidermans
And venom

He’s a shitty character who is brokenly overpowered with no threat to him by anyone he fights

> shazam
> venom

>people still pushing the “Superman is a boring Gary Stu” meme
Is the idea of a being with godlike powers dealing with morality not interesting to people?

You8rebtalking the brainwashed, brain-dead, drones who’ve been passively absorbing moral relativity their entire, wasted lives. Of course that’s boring to them.

That was literally the Snyder Cut though, give Superman Cavills mustache and you now have Dark Superman. Snyder actually has storyboards where Superman finds out about Darkseid and decides he needs to go rogue to save the world then JL finally unites to put sense into him he can't go it alone.

Because the selfish and self-obsessed literally can't understand why anyone would choose to be Clark Kent.

>seething

You both know I'm right and it fucking kills you inside.

As a guy who grew up on DC it saddens me that Marvel is now building up literal whos and F-Listers to be multi million dollar franchises now while DC is still struggling to take the A-Listers to the big screen. The fucking Flash still hasn't got his own solo movie, but the New Gods knock off, generic kung fu man, and Nu-Marvel characters are already getting one. DC has unironically the most iconic and good storylines in mainstream comics, and a plethora of great characters.

Like what the actual fuck is going on with them? I'm not trying to beat them down or anything. I'm just trying to understand.

You’re objectively wrong. “Infinity War” wasn’t even the right storyline, and it was *still* a far cry from the one it utterly butchered. Literally no character escaped Disney’s melon-balling. You’ve traded popularity for authenticity like the band-wagoning cuck that you are.

and yet his bald fuck had one of the best series of the modern era, writing around the fact he's invincible and can destroy anybody

Attached: confusedsaitama1-625x352.png (625x352, 268K)

Absolute brainlet. People like you are the exact problem and unfortunately the people writing Superman are often smoothbrains like yourself who don't understand what you can do with the character.

>Has near-limitless power but doesn't kill people, has to constantly restrain himself because of his morals and how he was raised
>Will never be able to fully relate to humans, is the last of his kind (at least in the very base Superman story, before all other Kryptonians come in)
>Despite his amazing abilities, is still unable to save everyone (exemplified with Jonathan Kent's death from a heart attack, also a major reason why Man of Steel is retarded because that death was completely avoidable)
>Has to constantly stand as a symbol of hope and inspiration, causing people to want to be better

Superman doesn't need to be off in space and fighting threats that are on his level in order to be interesting. It's more interesting to see his limitations and weaknesses in an environment where he is perceived as all-powerful. Could go on and on but there is a great amount of character depth to Superman that most people are too retarded to explore.

Attached: A Writer Who Understands Superman.jpg (800x588, 80K)

>can shoot fucking lasers from his eyes
>is practically invincible
>xray vision
>super hearing
>near infinite strength and power
>can fly at lightning fast speeds
>can only be defeated by an incredibly rare space rock
How the fuck would you write this shit?

It's not about what he can do. It's about what he can't do. All the people he can't save, the family here can't have, the life he can't live. He just wants to be a normal dude with a wife and a kid like his parents, he's filled with guilt and burdened by the responsibility of his power.

There are 23 MCU and 7 DCEU movies, give DC another 5 years.

They're not doing so hot. They should take 5 years and then just start from scratch if they so desperately want to do the MCU model. Their current universe is nearly unsalvageable.

1 in 1000 high IQ poster. Heres another Superman curse, when youre smart amongst literal retards nobody truly appreciates you

Man of steel was kino, fuck you

>You’ve traded popularity for authenticity like the band-wagoning cuck that you are.
You've hit the nail on the head. The reality is that general audiences latch onto MCU films because they're lighthearted, brainless entertainment. It has absolutely nothing to do with how well the characters are constructed, or how closely they resemble their comic counterparts. If people cared about that, then there would be an uproar over things like Thor's characterization being sacrificed for a shitty joke, Thanos having his motivation changed so much that his plan no longer makes sense, Spider-Man being a boring Iron Man sidekick, or the fact that the majority of development for a lot of characters happens entirely off screen. If the MCU were truly built on the strength of its characters, then MCU fans wouldn't choose to turn a blind eye to how poorly those characters are handled.

The popularity of the MCU is based entirely on the Whedon/Gunn ironic, self-aware, insincere, and comedic TV-movie tone. Anyone pretending otherwise is either deluded or disingenuous. Captain America is probably the only character that the MCU didn't completely butcher (and even then, they used his happy ending to demonstrate that they don't give a single shit about the plot or the rules they choose to establish in their own films, which a completely different topic).

Man of Steel is nowhere near as bad as the peons like to make out.

>ignoring the god awful season 2

This.
Man of Steel is one of the few capeshit films that works on it's own and has a coherent plot with actual good cinematography.

These anons are all intelligent posters with good taste. MoS is a great film.

People just aren't ready to join him in the sun

>trying to make a 2d medium and making it live action
Its exactly the same for manga whenever a manga is made into a live action movie it sucks
but it translates extremely well to anime movies or animation in general

I imagine animated capeshit would actually work, but then again the west doesnt have anyone who can do animation that isnt calarts trash anymore so maybe even that wouldnt save them

imagine thinking Superman's problem is he doesn't fight anyone as tough as him

They could always just make strong villains

Goku can fly and is fast as fuck, even has instant transmission
Goku could kill almost anyone if he wanted
If Goku dies he can be wished back by the dragon balls
If the dragonballs arent avalible they can wish him back with nameks dragon balls
if both sets of dragon balls arent avalible they can eiter have one of the kais bring him back for a day or gather the super dragon balls

And yet the broly movie was still fun
Just make stronger villains bro

Attached: dragon-ball-super-son-goku.jpg (1000x523, 84K)

fuck off retard

>animation is worse than season 1 but still around the average level for an anime
>plot was much better than season 1
>god awful

>its a tripfag
oh its projecting how cute
