Only fags and boomers say left
none, both pointless trash
I would rather hand out with My-Wonka desu.
Original Wonka was a really big asshole. Not a nice guy.
I don't get it right isn't WW
Why do people hate the new willy wonka again? it was avante garde kino
Right would be a miles better movie without the faggy poo in loompas
Left character, right movie
Left and I've had a dick pump hot cum into my ass multiple times
>Not muh Wonka
This. You could tell they didn't want to gave to write songs but were afraid of the fan backlash if no oompa loompa songs.
nostalgia fags, even though right was better in nearly every way but the music - which honestly the first didn't do right, but at least it didn't have a parody of Biggie
Only pedos lusting after ASR say right. Left is better in every possible way except the very ending after they leave the factory
Center
This, right is way better to masturbate to
>Left: Adults
>Right: Retarded contrarian zoomers with no future.
bump
Willy Wonka but played by Alan Alda
daily reminder: snowpiercer is a direct sequel to willy wonka
oi, you got proof of that claim m8?
Oh my god...
c*unny...
My willy.
I can feel it in my willy.
I want...put my thing in...
HNNNNNNNNGRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I'M COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMERRRR!!!!!

im convinced that dahl himself would have much preferred depp's version over wilder. wilder plays this all too friendly family figure that sometimes loses his temper. depp plays this more shy character with these weird idiosyncrasies and you get the sense that he really is actually off the wall insane. but i think dahl's suggestion of having peter sellers play the role of wonka would have worked best
This honestly. Sad to see so many zoomers though.
>all too friendly family figure that sometimes loses his temper.
Wilder seems sinister and heartless throughout the entire movie to me. Like he designed the chocolate factory as a mouse trap for bad children.
1971 Wonka > 2005 Wonka
1971 Veruca > 2005 Veruca
2005 Violet > 1971 Violet
That is all.
>sinister and heartless
i don't think dahl intended for wonka to be sinister but especially not heartless. i think wonka was more like this freaky misunderstood genius.
there are some scenes where wilder does appear to be somewhat heartless - but he is mainly seen as quite friendly and charming as seen by him hugging and kissing everyone at the gate. depp always seems weird and detached and doesn't really know how to interact with the children...a bit asperger like - similar to david byrne. but you do see the true heart of wonka come out in the end of burton's version
I don't like oompa loompas in either movie
I don't like creepy orange manlets
Willy Wonka or Michael Jackson cosplaying as Willy Wonka, real hard call.
#letherwin
>119986495
I like em both.
bump
Right is one of the most Kino movies ever made
Left is the best children's film ever made so I don't see how right can compete.
UNDERRATED
As reported by Letters of Note, Wilder told Stuart:
>When I make my first entrance. I’d like to come out of the door carrying a cane and then walk toward the crowd with a limp. After the crowd sees Willy Wonka is a cripple, they all whisper to themselves and then become deathly quiet. As I walk toward them, my cane sinks into one of the cobblestones I’m walking on and stands straight up, by itself; but I keep on walking, until I realize that I no longer have my cane. I start to fall forward, and just before I hit the ground, I do a beautiful forward somersault and bounce back up, to great applause.
When asked why he wanted to do this, Wilder simply said,
>Because from that time on, no one will know if I’m lying or telling the truth.
well I grew up with charlie and the chocolate factory so I have to say right :)
I tried watching left but it was too creepy and felt like it was written by pedophiles
Right kicked off my Crush on AnnaSophia Robb so kinda I'm loyal to it.
bump
Right, it fit my image of his eccentric ass reading the book (Quentin Blake's illustrations was like white noise to me att).
I was surprised finding out left existed (granted, I was an overseas "zoomer" or whatever 4chinners are calling it these days)...
>turn Willy Wonka into Michael Jackson
What were they thinking
user?
I’d like to see a version starting Sacha Baron Cohen.
Right. Gene Wilder, despite his excentricities, still comes across as a well-adjusted person.
Because Burton's movie is much closer to the book and people nowdays don't read that much, so they don't care.
right
If you didn't masturbate to this, you have no heart.
Lot of zoomers ITT
Based /fit/crossposter
this
oddly enough some "criticize" the burton version for being pedoey when wilder's wonka was literally touching the kids and where depp's version was even repulsed talking to them (he also seemed like germaphobe with the gloves and everything)
ah, the contrarian test. 100% foolproof
*Late Millennials.
Zoomers were barely sentient babies then.
Can we please have one thread without this generation autism?
what? how is this not a great song?
youtube.com
also burton/elfman decided to use the original text from the book's songs/poems instead of that oompa loompa doopity doo bullshit
idk why i opened this thread because i've never seen either of these movies but this was hot garbage. just terrible. complete trainwreck of a scene. in my opinion of course, others might feel differently. :)
You know Yea Forums has trascended contrariarism when people unironically defend Burton's remake.
>an overseas "zoomer"
where the hell are you that you didn't know the gene wilder charlie and the chocolate factory existed? it's been HUGE on the internet for years, because of this terrible meme
seriously, please tell me where you're from
>Didn't know that glorious Wilder Wonka exists
You must be 18+ to post on this website
Not him, but I had no idea where that image was from until I watched the movie last year.
This is actually ok
the 2005 film is not a remake of the 1971 film. the 1971 film did not have an original screenplay. they are both based on dahl's novel. also burton's film is better. deal with it.
I always thought this was Pierre Richard, didn't even know who Gene Wilder was.
The movie itself was okay, but Depp's performance was top notch. My boomer old man even liked it.
>t. Nostalgia critic
I don't hate it, I just prefer the older one
Bridge to Terabithia did it for me, man that movie had too many feels
Right.
The left is really fucking overrated boomer shlock. At least Burton's movie isn't soulless.
It's actually the other way around, contrarian boomers defend the old one for no reason. It's not a very good movie and has aged like shit.
Also, it's not a remake. It's an adaptation
yeh i rewatched the 71 film the other week and it's aged really poorly. it feels super forced and surface level. looked up the director and was a literal who that had only directed obscure tv movies before wonka
I was depressed for weeks after that movie.
It does feel like it could be a TV movie. Anyway, it's an absolutely terrible adaptation. Burton's isn't the greatest adaptation either, but it's so much better it isn't even funny. Both as a movie and as an adaptation. I couldn't believe how highly regarded the old one was when I finally watched it, after seeing it praised and the new one shit on by Yea Forums for years.
Left is magical
Right is soulless
zoomers fuck off
Left. Depp plays Wonka like he's some sort of pedophile faggot with a penchant for male dwarfs.
please see
Wilder's version had superior sets, music and pacing. Depp's version felt like it was just another cookie cutter CGI movie vomited out by a corporate entertainment entity. And why only one oompah loompah?
At least the original one had dozens of different ones.
>Depp's version was CGI
You dense motherfucker.
>You dense motherfucker
But it was
All I can remember is the CGI factory, CGI chocolate waterfall and river, CGI Violet, CGI boat ride, CGI squirrel, CGI elevator ride, CGI TV stuff
Left because he knew how to build a fucking boat ride.
youtube.com
Dahl hated the 71 version and declined the film rights to make the sequel Charlie and the Great Glass elevator because of how much he disliked the 71 film.
After Roald Dahl's death in 1990 his wife, felicity, became very protective of Dahl's work: "The Dahl Estate's subsequent protection of the source material was the main reason that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory had languished in development hell since the 1990s"
So the only reason why Burton was given the okay to direct his adaptation was because he was extremely enthusiastic and cared about the project a lot and felicity approved of the director, script and actors.
are you mentally challenged? all the sets were real and the only CGI used was for Violet turning into a blueberry and for the squirrels
Both are fine. I liked the flashbacks in the recent one
>Dahl hated the 71 version
Of course he did. It's garbage
this, only bad thing about right is the songs
i guess some adults can touch kids without being or looking like pedophiles, while others can't. :/
this accounts for about 10 minutes in the film. most of the film is made using real sets and scale models so to call it a "cookie cutter CGI movie" is not exactly true
>10 minutes in the film
Those scenes are longer than that and nor is that all the CGI used in the film. The chocolate palace for the Indian prince springs to mind
Dahl was a faggot
I always find it hilarious that Yea Forums cries over the apparent overuse of CGI but they can't tell it apart with real sets.
Dahl Sucked. Sometimes people aren't just good authors. Same goes for Heinlein and the movie "Starship Troopers". The movie was better than the book.
One of the few times that a remake and original are equally good and can compliment each other.
Well done, Tim
Yes well done, there are real sets in the film. There is also a large amount of CGI, not on capeshit levels , that exists throughout the film
the 2005 film wasn't a remake of the 1971 film
The songs are better though
The songs are literally straight from the book retard
this. the songs are great. also they actually use the original lyrics from dahl's book instead of oompa loompa doopity doo bullshit every 20 minutes
So you don't even like Dahl. Shit taste confirmed & 71fags exposed
Based
he's probably the best children's book author of all time
The Burton version is better because the chocolate river actually looks like chocolate and not a sewage processing plant
>Dissing 2K5's soundtrack
Kill yourself zoomer
cool digits
Nice, it's on Netflix. Thanks for the good idea, /teevee/.
what about these?
So close and yet so far.
this is a great scene. in this film all the brats are actually brats. in the 71 film the acting is meh and they just feel like slightly annoying kids
soul
>he's probably the best children's book author of all time
I don't trust any children's book author. Lewis Carroll's other hobby was taking pictures of prepubescent children.
Someone should make a "Virgin 1971 Vs. Chad 2005"
#madatDEEP
That's because all the girls in the 71 version were trying to bang young Charlie who only found out about it thirty years later.
The older was scarier, specially the oompa loompas
Gene is pure Kino, Deep is a clown
>I don't trust any children's book author.
All good children's literature is written as much for adults as it is for children
>Deep is a clown
It does fit the character more
It would be fair to say that both movies had their share of redeeming traits, and your personal preference is the only thing that'll determine which one is better. Some say Charlie and the choco factory is "more faithful to the book" while fans of willy Wonka and the choco factory think that Gene Wilder gave a more genuine interpretation of the character. I think both deserve some respect.
I always knew Wojack posters were mentally ill
reminds me of this:
Well considering Dahl hated jews I would agree that he preferred Depp to Wilder
That post is funny as fuck.
Cucked and bluepilled
maybe the lyrics are fine but the dumb themes totally remove you from the rest of the movie
>and for the squirrels
To be precise, CGI and animatronics were used to multiply squirrels. Close-ups were filmed with real sqirrels, grown and trained specifically for the sequence.
i prefer the right
rehash money grab..
>oompa loompa doopity doo bullshit
Oompa Loompa riddles were the best part
This desu. ASR reigns supreme. Even though left is the better movie, it lacks ASR.
Case in point, Burton's version is more similar to the movie adaptation of Dahl's Matilda than to the 1971 version.
youtube.com
...
i preferred left only because i thought the jews performance was better.
Left. Always.
How is it that that nerds candy shit still exists while Wonka bars have gone out of production?
Right was better in almost every way imaginable.
Great glass elevator was pure shit so it's good that it was never adapted.
Depps Wonka was disgusted around kids, he didn't want to fuck them. Stop projecting
ooo..?
oooooooAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wilder was a classy clown though. Clearly a really smart guy with a wry sense of humour. Depp was just a cheap creep.
Capt. America is Charlie?
Where's Wonka then?
>nu Wonka acts like a basedboi
>nu Wonka acts like an asshole
>nu Charlie is an emotionless mary sue
>pop music Oompa Loompas
>all that dark lighting
Just off the top of my head.
This thread made me remember great glass elevator I had to look it up to make sure I remember the plot correctly and I was not tripping balls.
Wonka and charlie accidentally go into orbit with the glass elevator and board a fucking space hotel that gets invaded by space aliens that are mute and shape sifters, was dahl senile by this point?
>nu Charlie is an emotionless mary sue
Freddie's Charlie is innocent and pure
the old kid always acted clueless and the film doesn't even focus on him after they get into the factory
Left
Right
It’s not a rehash money grab when it does everything better than the original and is more true to the source material.
this. much better film
start of the modern remake bubble
this but unironically
the 2005 film isnt a remake.
Are you kidding me?
>An MCU exists
>It's not the Mortdecai cinematic universe
should i watch this film? will i be able to enjoy it ironically?
Because it's literally THE fucking Wonka, you disgusting pig. Everything from the colour of his coat, his hair, to his tophat. Depp's Wonka is more original, and not traditional candyman flair. Fuck, we have a candy company practically going by Gene's image.
I didn't know there were people that preferred the ugly, CGI-laden, deep-as-a-puddle 2005 version over the witty, frightening, aesthetically pleasing, better scored and acted, subtly clever 1971 version
Left would DESTROY right.
unironically right
you probably wouldn't say that if he knew about his comical racism in the great glass novel
It was some weird "modern" take that was already outdated when it came out.
Johnny Debt can't save the movie with his admittedly charming quirkiness
bros my willy is going wonka
Sneed bar
>some adults can touch kids without being or looking like pedophiles
Yeah, me
Call me a boomer
Left
>Burton seduced Dahl's wife just to get movie rights
Truly a hero of his craft.
Comical racism needs to make a comeback. I like a good laugh.
he was an anti-semitic asshole
>Dahl was sympathetic to Hitler and Mussolini. In 1983 he told a reporter: “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity toward non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere; even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.”
>He was disgusted by Zionism and Israel. In 1990, shortly before his death, he said in an interview that he was “certainly anti-Israel” and that he had become anti-Semitic. He also said at the time that certain actions by the Israeli army in Lebanon had been silenced in the press because the newspapers belong to Jews and that there are no non-Jewish publishers anywhere. That was Dahl, too.
why do so many people throughout history become anti-semitic out of nowhere antifa bros? how do we stop this? we need to show the world jews never did anything wrong
Well if we kill all the Jews then there would be no one to hate
Sounds like he's correct. Did he have any kids? Hope they learned a lot from him.
The right was more accurate to the source material, left was a better movie overall
Are you the real Lena Dunham????
...
>implying the far left doesn't hate Israel as much as the far right
I think you're confused, froggie
so he was an intelligent and reasonable man is what you are saying
gene wilder came off as an eccentric factory owner.
Johnny Depp felt like a cartoonish pedophile
lol this is why he was better. he didnt give a fuck. jonny d just felt forced and lol so random:3
froggie?
froge
Middle
Gene felt like some weird sarcastic guy who was just fucking with everyone constantly, you could tell me the script ended with a reveal that he was an imposter or something and id believe you. depp felt like a legitimately whimsical but mysterious factory owner
This thread has made it clear that this website is infested with zoomers. Charlie and The Chocolate was hot garbage end of story
>you are now aware that "snozzberry" was slang for dick invented by Roald Dahl
...
Almost as if Manson based the clip on that scene.
this
>Liking old films makes you a zoomer
ok boomer
>the chad candy maker vs the autistic weirdo
>depp
>same two last letters
yea I’m thinking he’s jewish blood
