I'm someone who just cut his hair and beard back to look more like Gendo. I used to have that style when I first saw it and people kept comparing me to him. So I kinda use that look as a fallback. Even bought glasses / sunglasses to match. I've said for years I should just full on cosplay him for a con. Hell. Almost decades now.
I still wouldn't want a non-Japanese actor as him. Or any of the characters. Even Asuka is part Japanese. None of it would match Hollywood and Netflix with their paper thin idea of diversity. Hollywood talks about diversity, but don't have the balls to cast a fully Japanese cast for this very Japanese show.
As I said in my last post, I doubt Eva even works as live action. It was suited to animation. It was made for animation. It should remain as such.
Heaven forbid Hollywood and Netflix come up with new ideas instead of shitty remakes. They couldn't even fucking adapt Iron Fist and the Heroes For Hire comics properly. Fuck that.
