Also, about the beard thing - if your character is a malcontent or someone who has nothing to lose, having a beard is logical, no one who doesn't care about the rest of the world/himself wakes up in the morning and goes "hey, i have to shave so i look nice and presentable" - the only exception to this is someone that is obsessive (i need to shave so they can't grab my beard during as fight/so i don't leave hair in the crime scene/so i blend in with these corporate whores).
