autistic chowskposter here. rumors abound at the moment, especially in light of "lilly"s non-involvement in the upcoming sequel, that the wachowskis are not on speaking terms. there's one major rumor for this bouncing around, but i have my own conjecture on this topic and i'll use this post to discuss both:
>1. MY THEORY:
"lana", the elder spaghetti-haired tranny, has a taste for fine things, maintaining tony homes in chicago, san francisco, and berlin, as well as a preference for tesla cars. in addition, "lana" was the part-owner, along with "her" spouse the ex-dominatrix, of a production studio on chicago's north side which, after 11 years and 6 million dollars' worth of renovations, was listed last year for only 5 million dollars. this came two years after "lilly"s outing as trans, and only months before the announcement of matrix 4.
my theory: "lana" is, if not destitute, on the verge of financial hardship, and is making desperate efforts to shore up finances and secure the loyalty of those close to "her". "lana" is responsible for "her sister"s outing, in an attempt to enforce that loyalty via emotional blackmail, but "lilly", recognizing the shit salad for what it is, has broken ties so that no financial links can be proven when the creditors come knocking.
>2. THE POPULAR THEORY:
"lilly" is a histrionic attention whore and emotional trainwreck who follows "lana"s every action, including an imitation transition, driven by the optics of two trans siblings creating one of the most successful action films of all time.
