Nah ... user. It goes like this: the original > ( Road warrior>Fury road ) > Thunder Doom
Road Warrior is definately the best but Fury Road is almost equal. The only thing that is missing from FR is the charisma of Mel and the grittiness of the original.
Fury Road is probably the best shoestring budget movie ever made so yes. In terms of looks alone.
fury road was not small budget
its funny how many road warrior rip offs there have been but it took the original director to even equal the originals quality.
waterworld is cool tho
What is the fucking point of Mad Max without Mel?
Surely you mean Road Warrior here, they made that shit for like 5m australian dollars. truly mind blowing.
Fury Road was a pretty damn good movie but it came off as basically what Miller would have done with Road Warrior if he had unlimited money.
meant rw obviously
fury road had that shitty cgi storm that took away from the dreary windswept grassy knoll apocalypse that started the franchise
dunno, can barely remember tom hardy being in the movie, even the fucking wives outacted him
i doubt that miller of that era would go in such a cartoonish direction
REMINDER:
the reason we are not getting sequel to fury road is that WB doesnt want to pay Miller the 10million he is due.
they also used idea's he had for future mad max movies in their game that they also booted him from.
As I recall, FR was actually written with a 66 year old Max in mind played by Mel who had gone feral out in the wasteland, that's why Max remembers television which only the old hags remember it. But after Mel got in (((trouble))) and had to be recasted Miller didn't even change the script much if at all to accommodate Bane's casting.
>i doubt that miller of that era would go in such a cartoonish direction
i mean...the villain of road warrior is a mutilated hockey mask wearing rapist called Lord Humungus. how much more cartoonish do you want
i always thought of that as something a disturbing degenerate would think of as cool and choose it in a dead serious manner. kinda like john wayne gacy trying to kill you in his clown suit.
I thought the game actually used preliminary or outright unused concepts from FR that didn't actually make it to the movie? Really wonder how the game would've turned out with Miller involved.
View Fury Road as a prequel.
Its much sooner after total collapse.
Road Warrior is much later when everything is beyond broken.
blunder dome
thunder dome act 2 is terrible, the film originally wasn't even a mad max movie it was about the tribe of kids at the end then they retrofitted it into a mad max movie
That doesn't make much sense fella
In Fury Road whole world is desert and we are lead to believe the apocalypse happened long time ago based on the old ladies, but in Road Warrior there's still some vegetation and it clearly takes place only several years after the collapse because the characters all had pre-fall lives and occupations

I really am high as fuck I'm high as fuck right now.
I apologize.
Road Warrior was obviously heavily influenced by Judge Dredd - in fact, so is Wh40K, Verhoeven movies etc and Miller's skill to film car/motorcycle stunts. I think he wanted to film something where Judge Dredd-like police force gets racing and the apocalypse was just a narrative excuse at that point.
I never read any interview with him so I have no idea if my hunch is anywhere near correct.
This. The game used entire movie concepts that were planned for sequels. And have major spoilers.
not really.
The original is an exploitation revenge picture with car chases set in a dystopian future. The sequel pushes the idea further and explores the ramifications of the world alluded to in the original.
Roadwarrior and Mad Max are the only ones worth watching, the rest are total shit.
Fury Road is the definition of soulless
I wonder if the people who shit on Fury Road have actually seen Mad Max movies. It's the same exact thing as every other Mad Max movie. Max isn't even the main character of the first movie until the last 30 minutes.
like what exactly?
Why state the obvious?
Fury Road = Road Warrior > Mad Max > Thunderdome
Hardy was every bit as good as Mel. I might actually like him a little more.
When you say Mad Max 99% of people are immediately going to think of Road Warrior where Max was clearly the protagonist
fury road fucking sucked
>Hardy was every bit as good as Mel.
>website that hates women thinks the movie prominently featuring women is the worst
I'm sure that's just a coincidence, and I'm sure Yea Forums's hatred of Fury Road is completely unbiased.
>>>>epic meme face!!!
Fury Road's plot IS Road Warrior's. It is the same fucking thing. I would argue that Fury Road is better, but that's immaterial. Max always takes a backseat in the plot. He is a wanderer.
>ranking great movies
Shoo reddit
>Hardy was every bit as good as Mel
Yeah, his five lines were really well delivered. There were even a couple times when he almost stole the scene from the main character, Furiosa.
movie was ok
but the score is top tier kino

>Hardy was every bit as good as Mel
I'll meet you half way by admitting he was much better than I thought he'd be, but no, even the guy who played Max in the video game did a better job than him
im saying it isnt obvious that its inspired by mad max. you could make the same movie if dredd never existed.
id say the the australian outback inspired it more than a comic book
His physical acting is good. He played the "reluctant shellshocked hero" well. There's more to acting than lines.
Cringe.
This. It should have been named Furiosa Road.
Modern Hollywood is unwilling to do the stunts that they did in the 1980s, so all the set pieces have this unweighty feel to them from the CGI.
Agree
Road Warrior > Fury Road > Mad Max >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Thunderdome
Also Fury Road was the only movie in the last decade that I felt was worth watching in a theater.
Damn I never knew that. I loved Fury Road but Feral Mel would have been awesome. Hardy is the weakest part of the movie
>cringing @ the truth
Would you say that to his face? You need a fucking slap, you div.
Only plebs disagree
>Hardy was every bit as good as Mel. I might actually like him a little more.
No
I would.
Good point.
>Remembah Lingerie?
I like The Road Warrior because it feels like a more complete vision, and a continuation of the real world, it doesn't go off into the comic book fantasy world like Fury Road did
Why do you faggots never talk about the first one, it’s the best of the four
100% agree. Road Warrior feels more like a realistic depiction of wasteland life. Fury Road feels like a ridiculous cartoon parody. I can even remember anything about FR beyond the guitar fag. Theres interesting characters or quotes ("witness me" by Yea Forums autist). Even thou most people hate TD, it had tons of memorable quotes and scenes
>Two men enter, one man leave!
>Bust a deal, face the wheel!
>Who run Barter Town? Master Blaster runs Barter Town!
The first one is not bad, but it's more like an experiment that wasn't fully fleshed out. The final scene is definitely the best of the four.
I'm a boomer but no
Mad cop story < Wasteland bdsm goofy bullshit
He was inspired by comics but more Heavy Metal rather than 2000AD. He actually tried to get the rights and wanted to name the movie Heavy Metal.
en.wikipedia.org
There's also the Corman movie Death Race 2000, which inspired Dredd a lot and probably influenced Miller as well. Obviously Robocop is pretty much Dredd.
Fury Road was fucking awful, unironically one of the the worst butcherings of a classic trilogy I have ever seen. It was worse than fucking TFA and TLJ combined
>Visuals no.
Road Warrior was the movie that defined visual layer of post-apoc genre.
not really, most post-apoc movies don't have vehicles roaming around.
regardless the general aesthetic has become the ubiquitous post-apocalyptic style
This, fuck Fury Road.
Hard agree.
still can't believe this is Benett, how did he end up such a fat middle aged looking guy between Road Warrior and Commando?
PLEBBITORS STOP BEIng CANCEROUS CUNTS .. WORSRE EVAR.. a Repeat shitpost , this tells me ...JANNIES ARE CUNTS AN I will on my time away here .. YEAH NOT COPS /SECTION ... visit them ! an a few others who keyboard warriors , an if founders had that Cheese pizza there an recorded . IBut seriuosly we need to stop these cunts get away with it they said !.
This is the proper order:
TRW>=FR>1st half of Thunderdome>MM>2nd half of Thunderdome.
That being said, the Nightrider sequence in MM is fantastic.
fury road is the only good one
Completely agree. It's setting is the most unique, it's action scenes are the best, it's cinematography is far better than the others, the story and characters are all better. One of my all time favorites and unreal they pulled it off with the budget they had
punk rock leather went out of fashion in the late 80s.
Road Warrior was dogshit too tho. Fury Road is only the logical conclusion. Road Warrior, compared to Mad Max, ramped up the destruction and carnage to such a degree that, unless they wanted to go back to the roots, the only way forward was a 3 hour long chase scene with non-stop set-piece destruction. The only good Mad Max movie was the first one or the sequel without the tanker scene. I liked the franchise much better when it's just bleak and depressing instead of an action romp.
>Thunderdome Act 2 is shit
FR was a bit too unrealistic
Being a contrarian is so 00s.
zoomers leave
Fag
What is this then?
imdb.com
do you know how IMDB works dummy
imdb.com
are we getting a justice league part 2 also just because their is a IMDB listing for it
This is gratifying to me. I've never seen anything but love for Fury Road, which I found flat and uninspired. And as somebody pointed out - unmemorable.
Don't get the love for FR.
Not calling you a liar but any source for this? Punished Max with Mel would have been kino
1. i'm probably old enough to be your dad.
2. if you really think that my post was in defense of Fury Road you have the reading comprehension of a 3rd grader.
3. Fuck you.
tbf Mel had just 38 lines in Road Warrior
>gonna see a 35mm screening of Road Warrior this weekend
WHO RUNS BARTERTOWN?
this guy explains it in detail
Fury Road was supposed to be Max as an old Road Warrior and him and Furiosa were supposed to be love interests to complete his redemption into a human being
Yes, and both films are still better than any other action film ever made.
MM2 > MM1 > Fury Road > Every other action film ever made > Thundershit.
am i wrong for thinking the first one is the only one that is kino and the superior film to all the rest. it captures something very beautiful and unique,he exact moment max is born, is when is family dies, we see it and feel it with him and that is the exact moment humanity ends. it's the alpha and the omega. it's magnificent.
>My life fades...
Is there any other intro that can top this one?
No, I was just about to post that the intro to Road Warrior alone is better than the entirety of Fury Road
youtube.com
i kinda high right now and that maybe doesn't really do it justice or explain what i mean by humanity, I mean civilized society, i mean civilization essentially. max's fall and rebirth is also the fall of humanity and the birth of the wasteland/post apocalypse is marked with max's transformation from cop/family-man to mad max. at the same time. really capturing this from a single last good man perspective.
Correct answer.
Tom Hardy sucked in Fury Road and pulled the movie down.
Duh... obviously.
Did you just watch Road Warrior for the first time?
