And like 80% of the watchers actually believes them. The prosecutors and judges are also getting death threaths for doing their job.

I read somewhere that when it comes to the science stuff, all the cop spear-headed shit like ballistics and polygraphs fail when actually scrutinized, they were just legitimized by the law to make it easier to convict.

Flimsy bullshit was allowed, evidence that really did make a good case against the three wasn't allowed, blood samples were lost (including one from a homeless man who ran into a diner located within walking distance of the murders within minutes of estimated time of death. Even if that dude was innocent he still may have seen something) and key documents never saw the light of day until after the verdict.

I'm pretty sure the three did do it (or at least were heavily involved in some capacity), but the trial was so mishandled it was pathetic.

The people who saw Damien near the crime scene and the softball girls he bragged to never recanted. Wax was also found from a candle that Damien owned.

A lot of the evidence used against him also wasn't put forth by the prosecution, but by his own lawyers hoping to get him off on an insanity plea.

The true kino for this type of film is The Thin Blue Line. It essentially made the genre. Plus the soundtrack is top notch.
