What will it take to make a good Alien movie?

Interesting characters in an interesting setting. Some mystery. Scott going in and trying to explain everything ruined a lot of the series. Stop showing the alien in bright settings.

Stop making them. Alien and Terminator movies need to just stop.

There is nothing original anymore or scary and they ruined the franchise. They might as well make xenos the next Transformers or Marvel characters that come out as trans.
I mean, what more can you do? You know how they operate. You've seen them devastate. Nothing to see here, moving right along...

A competent director, keep the alien to a minimum, general atmosphere of despair and a solid script that goes beyond muh monster in a spaceship

Alien and Terminator you say? I'd be ok with shortening the Alien: Isolation story to movie length.

It's Cameron's fault as well, as Aliens made the monster less scary when he turned it into big space ant.

Or xenos infesting a future city. Starts off with a bladerunner-esque detective investigating brutal murders in a grimy cyberpunk city. He forms a hypothesis that it was a xeno but everyone believes they were wiped out during the nuke strike from Aliens. He encounters an a former Marine who was kicked out of the service for being crazy / being part a mission that went wrong / knows too much. He suspects that WY really did smuggle a xeno back and it inevitably got loose. Climax is they find a massive nest under the city and manage to convince a space marine battalion at a nearby base to fight, despite threats from WY. Movie ends with a 30 minute long battle scene.

Also they should include something about the royal jelly being repackaged as a street drug. That was one of my favorite parts of the Dark Horse/ EU stuff.

But you guys hate everything no matter what. If 'x' movie has 70% goodness in it, you will take the 30% and throw it in the garbage. That's why you will never have a girlfriends.

The real mystery is who approved those screenplays.
