Based Rhedosaurus poster.

You are relentlessly based.

Honestly, the movie is mostly pretty eh. The Rhedosaurus is barely in it and his rampage is like 50 minutes into the movie.

Watch Gojira 54 instead, it had the same basic idea as Beast From 20.000 Fathoms but did it way better.

Though if you don't like the serious tone of Gojira: Godzilla 98 is basically a remake of The Beast From 20.000 Fathoms: It takes place in New York, the monster's first attack is on a boat, the monster came from nuclear radiation, etc. I'm pretty sure Roland Emmerich was atleast inspired by it considering Independence Day was also a bit of a remake of the 50s film Earth vs The Flying Saucers.

Checked and T-Rex’d.

Does this movie have alot of screentime for the dinos or are they only in it for a couple minutes?

The creatures here move more lifelike than CGI mocapped monsters in today's movies, how did Ray do it?

He was a fucking wizard.

It's because mocap sucks and will never look as good as animation done by hand. Mocap is done by lazy cunts who don't want to put in actual effort, the only movies where mocap has any actual benefit are the Planet of the Apes and Godzilla movies, as those were franchises that started with people in suits/makeup. For anything else it sucks and looks like shit

Manual animation allows you to recreate a creature's movements way better than simply having an actor pretend he's a dinosaur. It's also why Jurassic Park still looks fucking great

oh my god

ZILLAAAAAA

Does anyone else here prefer the remake?

>King Kong 2005
>Not beautifully done mocap

It's more because Andy Serkis knows how to do mocap properly, and he was the one who mentored TJ Storm for Godzilla.

>The creatures here move more lifelike than CGI mocapped monsters in today's movies, how did Ray do it?
He used actual, real-world lights instead of CG lighting that our brains immediately interpret as fake.

I guess but a gorilla resembles a human alot more than say a dinosaur so mocapping an animal like that can look pretty great. Though a lizard or almost anything that walks on 4 legs is best done manually

Takes a good while for Gwangi to show up but once he's in it he's in it.

Harryhausen put a ridiculous amount of work into everything. In Valley of Gwangi the lassoing scene he had to go frame by frame to make sure everything lined up as he did his stop motion. As seen at about 44 minutes into this.

Is this restored or were they always that purple?

Even 78 looked better than 2005

Mr Lucas was aware of the true Chitauri form and incorporated it into the Star Wars

Of Lourié's monster works, Gorgo > Beast > Behemoth.
