Underage retard, the amazon burning down and being demolished has been a recurring theme for hippies since at least the 80’s.

They are. There are natural forest fires every year, same as anywhere else in the world, but this year the cattle industry went full locust mode are are starting dozens of additional fires.

It remains illegal to do so,.but the new government was partially pit into power by cattle industry and enforcement is now lax.

Brazil cattle producers are notorious for over grazing and terrible land management practices. Where canada or the USA would have 400 cattle, the brazil guys are cramming 4000. The cattle strip the land bare and then they need to move on. They leave barren wasteland behind as the topsoil is lost and they need to clear new land for their cattle to destroy. As mentioned earlier they manage their herds as if they were a locust swarm. Third world farming practices, the kind that stripped places like Haiti and parts of Africa bare. That is brazil and they just happen to have a lot more land to potentially fuck up.

It's worth noting too that the land can be recovered in just a few decades, bit the practice is atypical. There was a test project where a family farm was overrun by a large commercial cattle operation and stripped bare back in the 90s while the owner was out of the country. A mining company, Vale, donated 100,000 trees and managed to restore life to the barren land over the past 20 years.

It doesn't matter, it's still important to not rape the environment on its own merits. Of course Machiavellian ne'er-do-wells capitalize and exploit it for personal or political gain, but what cause can that not also be said about? The environment is our shared human heritage that we leave to our descendants.

As you can see it reco recovered, bit this was just one small area that was damaged and it took a huge donation from a massive mining company to undock a small part of the land destroyed by the cattle. Brazil cannot afford to do this elsewhere.

But yes, the environment can bounce back remarkably quickly. An incredibly high number of forests near populated areas are reclaimed from farmland in the last 50-300 years. That's why when you go to an old-growth forest it makes the trees back home look like weeds, the old trees are so much taller and THICCer.
Sadly people don't even seem to want to get the planet even a small fucking reprieve, which sucks.

That is only true if the land is allowed to recover after the fire. New plants need to take gold to prevent that lush new soil from blowing away. Unfortunately the moment anything green sprouts up, the cattle are unleashed. With the soil constantly churned up by half starved cattle it dries up and blows away. New plants never get a chance and the land becomes barren.

It would be far less destructive of the farmers burned the forests to make farmland. New crops or fruit trees would protect the soil and people wouldnt bitch as much.
