Chungking is great, found Angels to be pretty underwhelming

chungking by far
fallen angels felt like an exercise

Chungking Express part 1 > Fallen Angels >>> Chungking Express part 2

Fallen angels>>>>>>>chungking

>tfw no mental qt stalk and drug you, just for cleaning your house without you knowing it
Why live?

btw thinking about it now, the storyline sounds like some anime plot.

Why are Wong Kar-Wai's films so comfy?

*California Dreamin' starts playing*

>Wong Kar Wai might not make it alive out of Hong Kong

;_;

ARR THE REAVES ALE BLOWN

/thread

but he lives in London now

I bet he uses a camera film

No he isn't, is he?

Mute story>Faye story>woman assassin story>hitman story.
Fallen Angels ending is one of the best endings in cinema history.

I agree that the Mute story is the best part of Fallen Angels and the ending is one of my favorites (though calling one of the best endings in cinema history might be a bit bold)
however I think the Faye story is the worst one.

Mute Story=Woman Assassin story> Hitman story>Faye story

won't disagree. It somehow really hits the spot

I don't know, love them both. I'll have to re-watch them back to back. I think I prefer one or the other depending on my mood

Watch In the Mood for Love too

The ending of Fallen Angels is the best part of either movie.

chungking

you never really see the sky in his movies which makes everything feel underground and cozy

>though calling one of the best endings in cinema history might be a bit bold
I don't think so.

Never realised that

Basically this. Overall Fallen Angels is better. I read somewhere that it was supposed to be one film but it would be too long.
He wanted to shoot there at the end of the year. I guess that's not happening now.

I say that because there are a lot of films out there and you wont have seen them all (I assume)

if you liked fallen angels' ending you'll coom at days of being wild's.

I've seen plenty and I stand by what I said. Getting autistic about it with statements like that reminds me of my teenage tears. Look, even if you'd name 15 movies with a better ending, thing is, because the industry is so large... being one of the best 100 is still being in the top because, like you said, there are so many movies out there.

I don't think it's anywhere as good.

fair enough

In the Mood for Love had better ending imo.

Disagree on that too. Strong ending though.

it's not a strict rule or anything, there are a handful of shots that contain the sky in each movie, but it's way less than a normal movie

What do you guys think about Jia Zhangke's films?

Only seen Unknown Pleasures and Still Life from him. I liked them, Unknown Pleasures was quite massive for me when I saw it.

Cool. I've been going through his filmography and haven't seen those yet.

Chungking. But Angels is good.

Very good.

Weird. Unknown Pleasures is his most famous. What have you thought of the ones you've seen?

Fixed

Watched Mountains May Depart a couple of years ago and loved. Saw Ash Is Purest White recently and thought it was great.
Downloading the rest, next one I'm gonna watch is Platform but the file I found is like 2h40min and apparently tge movie is supposed to be 3h. It still has opening and ending credits and I can't find anything online about censorship.
