I like it, 90% of episodes are anime kino

Yeah. It's watchable.

But the characters are not compelling, you don't care about any of the dramatic parts. And many of the episodes are forgetable. Nothing sticks with you afterwards.

It's kino to the highest order and one of the only worthwhile anime shows.

Its a great anime with well written characters that sell the rather short and simple plot.

In fact i'd argue that its the simplicity of its overarching plot that makes more enjoyable than a lot of other "drama" shows that come out nowadays.

It's one of the greatest shows ever made, and you'd have to be one hell of a contrarian to try and argue otherwise. Minuscule cast of extremely strong character archetypes, incoherent episodic nature with said characters set free in a compelling world that is seen and not explained, held together by narrative threads that run through the otherwise entirely independent episodes. There's, what, four or five episodes where the actual story is a thing. Everything else is just these great characters going out and doing cool things and it's a fucking blast to watch from the very first minute to the very last. Coupled with some truly gorgeous animation for a fucking '98 cartoon series and a soundtrack that's still an enduring pop culture milestone over twenty years after release, it's probably the only show i've been able to watch in its entirety multiple times throughout my life.
