I can see why people dislike it as a follow up to Star Wars but its a great movie on its own and had a MASSIVE impact people don’t like to acknowledge so much later scifi and CGI action movies drew so much from the prequels.

Episode 1 is good I will admit and has a decent amount of SOUL. But the vision of 3 in executing the Palpatine/Vader arc is commendable. While they fumbled a little, Palpatine is a joy to watch Everytime he's on screen as his plan comes to fruition. Vader is also fairly well done although per usual with the prequels the dialogue could have been better. Pretty much every action piece is great in the film.
It also has the best memes of the series.

It's a pretty good, light-hearted adventure for kids, which is fitting since Anakin is a kid in that one. It's like a bigger budget version of those two Ewok Adventure movies.
Anyways, I hated TPM when it came out because I was in high school at the time, but as time passed and I stopped taking Star Wars so seriously, it's warmed on me and become my personal favorite.
