How about this?

because most of the time the lead has to be a woman because it's more of a vulnerable and scarier situation that way. people don't want to see some chad running from a dude with a knife. if they are even in the movie they get picked off early on

>rangebanned so cant share my kino adventures
This is now a horror movie general. Just settled in for this comfy slasher flick. What will I think about it?

That's only because Bruce and the director were buddies.

Because nobody wants to watch a helpless man running around screaming for 2 hours.

unless the man is Bruce Campbell. as has been noted.

That's how it started, but it's become such a trope that being a woman in a horror movie is the safest position to be in, you know at least one of them is getting out alive. It much more vulnerable to be a chad dudebro.

thats always been the one thing i could never suspend my disbelief for in horror movies. monsters, spooky ghosts, werewolves, zombies? yeah ok ill allow it. but a WOMANNNN surviving over all these big strong men who get killed??? LOL yea whatever! now its obvious im watching a movie! way to take me outta the story dummy filmmakers!

Fair enough. How about this chap? Or does the fact that a woman survives with him not make it count?

Even worse is that they kill the alpha male and everyone else with such efficiency and ease, but suddenly screw it up on the last girl. Its funny because if the first person who is attacked by the killer managed to put up a fight like the final female everyone else would probably survive.

I think it makes people uncomfortable to see women killed or hurt

Fucking women say it's because of sexism and glorifying violence against wimmin. Fucking dumb whores.

It's called the "final girl" for a reason

trash just like the original strangers

haha yeah uncomfortable haha

People just wouldn't care about a male protagonist screaming and running scared from the killer, most of the time when guys get killed in slasher movies they don't have much chance to fight back, they usually get snuck up on

That's pretty funny when you consider that, prior to the rise of the slasher, women were almost always damsels in distress or would sacrifice themselves to kill a monster. Them fighting back and becoming Final Girls wasn't a widespread thing until Halloween started spawning knock-offs, unless you want to start calling obscurities like Strangler of the Swamp and Curse of the Fly feminist masterpieces.

Dumb bitches always crying out of their snatches about sexism. Women are fucking retards.

heh yeah...NOBODY wants to see that..

No joke, the modern image of most romance novels aimed at women with heroines being carried off in their lover's arms or standing near mansions is derived from late 60s-70s gothic horror paperbacks which showed women being abducted by monsters or running away from haunted houses, many of which were literally traced from horror movie stills in magazines like Famous Monsters of Filmland (whose publisher was a pedo).

This. People took a lot of the shit that was I'm Halloween and just applied it to other slasher films without necessarily thinking about the original context.

>because most of the time the lead has to be a woman because it's more of a vulnerable and scarier situation that way. people don't want to see some chad running from a dude with a knife.

this.

Predator is one of the few horror movies that has an all male cast against the slasher. It ends with the chad beating the slasher one on one but there is still a final girl for some reason.
