Who are you quoting? WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU QUOTING?!
WHO'S THE SLIMY LITTLE COMMUNIST SHIT, TWINKLE-TOED COCKSUCKER DOWN HERE WHO JUST SIGNED HIS OWN DEATH WARRANT?!
uhhhghhhhhh
It's John Wayne reading Hamlet. It's a joke you idiot.
>Sir, I quoted you, Sir!
>5'11 I didn't know they stack shit this high.
What did he mean by this?
>There is no racial bigotry here.
>I do not look down on niggers, kikes, wops, or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless.
was it the most based movie quote of all time?
The first part of this movie is so good, too bad it turns to shit in the second half.
>greasers
I mean wops are italian so greasers are like what, greek?
mexicans probably
Based pleb opinion
Spics user.
well they are greasy as fuck
I don't get how the first half connects with any of the message of the second.
it’s not a war movie senile boomer
>Is that you, Sneed? Is this me?
Fuck and SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Is this really what boot camp was like during Nam?
I mean in terms of message.
DO YOU SUCK DICK?
Yeah, they had to rush people through BCT more quickly than normal.
>tell ya what joker, these boots were made for walking and that's just what they're gonna do.
I quoted this back in highschool on a presentation on civil rights and shit
Thank God it was before the internet and everyone laughed at it, even if only some got the quote. If I did it today, I'd be crucified.
The most pleb opinion.
The first half is meant to be a sort of "dark comedy" where you're experiencing schadenfreude; until the end of it, where Pyle kills Hartman and himself. That's really the transition into the second half - where you realize that all the suffering just causes more suffering. It's also all for basically no real purpose. Hence them singing the Mickey Mouse song at the end- because what the fuck were the Vietnamese really getting out of it, the ability to watch Disney shit? They'd basically become a "capitalist" subsidiary of the US, in the same vein as other shitholes being exploited to hell and back.
The point of the movie is paper-fucking-thin, but it's probably one of Kubrick's best works because of it. No 2deep4u bullshit, it's very on the nose and direct.
>Hence them singing the Mickey Mouse song at the end- because what the fuck were the Vietnamese really getting out of it, the ability to watch Disney shit?
Come on man, it had to do with the duality of men.
Lmao, how the fuck do you read a village?
that would've been an interesting scene if the movie was set in 2019
found the double digits iq retard
> the duality of men.
THE WHAT?
"I will take a giant shit on you" has to be one of the best delivered lines in the film
>no racial bigotry
>makes fun of the nigger for not having watermelon and fried chicken
i watched about 11 john wayne movies from who shot liberty valance red river and the quiet man
and i still don't get this line
is it a poke at traditional american masculinity?
Because he's trying to provoke him, just like he provokes everyone else with their weakness. Black men are huge pussies and cry when people say mean words or use stereotypes.
for the love of god can someone explain to me what this phrase means?
>inb any shit meme or joke
consider yourself filtered pleb
A wiry little Texan in horn-rimmed glasses the guys are already calling "Cowboy" says, "Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?" Cowboy takes off his pearl-gray Stetson and fans his sweaty face. I laugh. Years of high school drama classes have made me a mimic. I sound exactly like John Wayne as I say: "I think I'm going to hate this movie." Cowboy laughs. He beats his Stetson on his thigh.
this
i have watched this movie few times and everytime I turn it off once they leave the american army academy
Reminder that the second half of Full Metal Jacket is the biggest pleb filter of all time.
I remember every line from the first half, the only part from the second half I remember is "me love you long time"
>not GET SOME
>not duality of man
>not MICKEY MOUSE
>not inside every gook is an American waiting to come out
>I wanted to be the first kid on my block with a confirmed kill
>Damn Joker, they ought to give you the congressional medal of... UGLY
>Anyone who runs is a VC. Anyone who stands still is a well-disciplined VC.
>WHAT'S YOUR EXCUSE?
>EXCUSE FOR WHAT, SIR?
>I'M ASKING THE FUCKING QUESTIONS HERE!
My favorite exchange
>How can you shoot at women and children?!
>there are people who consider Apocalypse now to be better
Explain yourself right now
>How do you shoot women, and children?
>Just lead 'em a little less!
In high school we had to do a holocaust presentation for for history class.
I googled "dead jew holocaust pictures" or something like that. Then I made a slideshow video on Windows Movie Maker with just graphic holocaust pictures, and put the song "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor" as background music..
In hindsight, I don't know how the fuck I didn't get written up for that. And luckily this was back in Myspace days before people posted literally everything on social media.
the opening scene of full metal jacket is the greatest improvised scene ever made fight me

Reddit opinion
i'm pretty sure joker is mocking the sergeant being a tough guy
i haven't seen this movie in years though, might be wrong
They are not really comparable.
One is a movie about war. The other is a movie that is set during war
>once they leave the american army academy
>likes the fist part better
>doesn't even know about USMC training camp
teh few
teh pwoud
teh us muhweens
when I was a little edgelord and the class clown and we had wwii as our subject one day, the teacher mentioned the shoah and I told her my grandpa died in a camp. My god, the look on her face, she said she was sorry and all, I was completely serious and I just let it boil in silence for a few seconds, then I told her he tripped and fell from a guard tower and everyone just lost their shits while she was just frozen. She kept no hard feelings though and I felt kind of bad after because she was the best teach. The pinnacle of 'too pure for this world'
I know it isn't the most original thing but even after about a decade I'm really proud at how excellent the delivery was.
>Apocalypse now
Not really a war movie. It's about the nature of man. The setting just happens to be Vietnam because its another adaptation of Heart of Darkness
>Two hundred and fifty feet! Lee Harvey Oswald was two hundred and fifty feet away and shooting at a moving target. Oswald got off three rounds with an old Italian bolt action rifle in only six seconds and scored two hits, including a head shot!
What did kubrick mean by this?
>The first half is meant to be a sort of "dark comedy" where you're experiencing schadenfreude; until the end of it, where Pyle kills Hartman and himself.
A lot of people feel sorry for Pyle though and find the first half hard to watch, just more compelling than the second half.
Absolutely patrician taste in episodes.
LOL Reddit is the only site that actually likes the second half of FMJ as a majority opinion.
I hate the site too, but shit. This is like calling tumblr a right wing site. They suck Kubrick off 24-7 there and love to praise the scenes normies hate.
"My bad"
the ultimate pleb filter
It’s not really that hard, there are videos of hold men simulating the shots with the same rifle

Conspiracists never share the evidence that blows thier retardantion out of the water
It all stems from even back as ww1 firing lines but for sure in ww2 they realized units hit ALLT more in training than live war firing, spbecuase they didn’t actully want to kill people, so the training was completely redone to make than hard and break them down from what made them human, keep in mind the drill sergeants are just a much a tool here, they don’t know the theory behind it.
That the marines make you an excellent killer.
Why do marines wear those little cowboy hats?Shitting in front of other people has got to be the worst part of war.
>YOU CAN COME OVER TO MY HOUSE AND FUCK MY SISTER
They never followed up on this, did he go to his house?
>majority of reddit
hmmmm
When I was in middle school (1995ish) my two friends and I were tasked with a project on the Vietnam war. So my friend and I wore old army jackets and ran into the woods after our Korean friend, who we had put one of those chinese rice farmer hats on and had him scream CHINGCHONG type stuff while we shot our bb rifles and set off fireworks. We filmed it and turned it in, and it was played in class much to our delight. I can't imagine that passing as acceptable today
This gives me anxiety
How was it pre WWII or pre WWI? Shit, I wonder how they trained men for line infantry warfare pre WWI.
A-WELL EVERYBODY'S HEARD user IS THE PLEB.
boot camp is still like this now lmao
this.
>being filtered by entry level kino like FMJ
leave this board
now
It's doesn't even look that tough , if you've seen 3rd world bootcamps you would see that the marine corps are just glorified boy scouts
John Wayne was the pen ultimate badass in the youths of the Vietnam servicemen, yet he sat out serving in WW2 and is comfortably watching American soldiers get killed from his tv
hence ''is that you John Wayne''
>all fucking Niggers must fucking hang
pretty sure they don't hit you or say the n-word
What ?
Back then they just hyped people by telling them that they were being given a very honorous task and that it was their job to uphold the chivalry of the military etc etc. These speeches were given by old armchair general farts.
Often during WW1 they made people do trench runs in mustard gas just to fetch them whiskey
I want to shake your hand.
meant for
Based FMJ filtering plebs for decades. Second part is kino of the highest order.
dumb phone poster
they don't hit you physically anymore but the rest is about standard
How can you misunderstand such a basic fucking movie? Is your IQ literally sub 80?
How many people actually did like Private Pyle and just committed suicide in real life during Nam?
I mean, imagine being 18-25 when you get dragged unwillingly to a boot camp to get humiliated, screamed at, and assaulted by some random cunt, the idea being that you're being trained to become perfectly obedient so you can get shipped off to the other side of the world to die there. How do you not break?
By not being a bitch
i don't think we'll ever know the meaning behind this line
Vietnam marines were volunteers and wannabes got cracked like eggs
that's just the kind of excuse they'd use to convince you.
What can they do to you if you refuse to do anything?
You TALK the talk but DO You walk the WALK
Ummmm you're being kind of misogynist by bringing that up. The draft exists for a reason and it's a man's job to deal with that.
where the marians drafted i though only the army was ?
What's that supposed to be? Some kind of sick JOKE?
it was easier to get Section 8
my Grandfather got it after he left a giant shit infront of the drill sargeants office every morning
>The duality of man, the Jungian thing, sir.
>...
>...
>Whose side are you on, son?
One of the most underrated parts in the movie.
pretty chad move desu
>technology changes
>people don't change with it
Anyone who makes such a mistake in this day and age brought it upon themselves. Kids are well aware that everyone has cameras now.
whats up dog, took a crap infront of your office, whats down with that dog
The second half is shit. Everybody knows it. Even Kubrick admitted it was shit.
Imagine the smell
Wasn't the Smoking man in the Marines or was that the army?
What version of apocalypse now do I get? There are 3 or 4 versions of it.
I wouldn't say it's to make them tougher, but to instill the sense of hierarchy. That your commanding officer and say and do anything to you.
>Right after you eat the PEANUTS out of my SHIT
youtube.com
Honestly every line from this scene is so memorable
greasers were what 'white trash' used to be called because they put product on their hair to slick it back like george clooney's character in o brother where art thou or like john travolta and his friends in that movie grease. basically it's from a time when america still had poor white people living in its inner cities who weren't just some recent bunch of european immigrants.
theatrical first
if you *really* like it and want to spend more time in that world, watch the redux (adds a lot but most don't like the pacing)
For some reason I totally forgot what a greaser was. It's the guys in leather jackets with Elvis hair going around carrying knives and beating their girlfriends. Think the dentist from little shop of horrors
you mean pomade
>All fucking n.....
It was 5’9
Please be trolling
second half > first half
only a brainlet thinks le evil american military is good.
Will someone FINALLY give a clear explanation of this "JOKE"?
i get the “is that you John Wayne” part but not the “is this me” part
he's throwing his voice to make it seem like john wayne is having an existential crisis
It was about the duality of man. Real greaseball shit.
Animal mother is pyle if pyle didnt kill himself
Your classroom was probably mostly white
Yikes
ALL FUCKING FIRST HALF POSTERS MUST FUCKING HANG.
suckee, fuckee, smoke cigalette in her pushy
Why do people have such a hard time with this?
Your answer is yes, and they haven’t changed.
Zizek had it right: first half is the important introduction into the group of the army. The soldiers all learn how to fight and, more importantly, try to cope with being cogs in the machine.
Joker is a very good man at fitting in, even though at first glance he looks like a guy that still has his conscience.
We see at the end that HE was the one who was the most effective soldier, that managed to cope the best while still retaining his “true” identity inside. For him there was no terrible cost to becoming a soldier.
he was an Army captain.
Based
>Fuck niggers, fuck liberals and fuck the drill instructor!
Wow did Sam raimi co write the script?
cope
Man, I wish Zizek would do more movies analyzing films.
You get desensitized to nudity. It becomes something you don't even think about
I loved both Perverts Guides but I also feel like he's rushing, every movie he engages with deserves another 10 minutes of analysis
The movie is not fucking platoon. The themes are very thin, and it's not hamfisted or bias.
maximum pleb detected.
My god, jelly donuts are so scary.
This must be why 3rd world militaries are the most feared on the planet
I don't remember about him bit Skinner was a marine.
>be white
Alllrigghhttt!!
go play with your grandchildren
>SOUL BROTHER TOO BEAUCOUP
imagine if this was made in 2019
/tvpol/ would lose their minds
>ignoring the part where animal mother is up first to bat
I bet you believe the 911 simulations too.
Bump
>all fricking nig*ers must fricking hang
People were just based in general back then.
rafterman was based
retard
Actual line:
"Easy! You just don't lead 'em so much!"
I gotta admit, that's a power move
I haven't seen this film yet but the thread's inspired me to watch it, I have Netflix and it's apparently on there so I guess I'll watch it now
>easy just don't lead as much
It was improvised? Proof?
Also checked
>teacher has a henna art club
>tell her I want a forehead swastika because "Charles manson had one and that guy was cool"
No it isn't. It's been pussified. The NCO's don't even swear, much less hit you. They use replacement words like "Motherchicken" in place of "Motherfucker". It's all been pussified.
Imaging being offended by motherfucker while you are training to go overseas to shoot poor people
Hook hook
>The NCO's don't even swear
In front of the cameras
When there aren't cameras around they swear a lot
The hard hazing stuff is probably gone, if not limited to a select classes
>Kids are well aware that everyone has cameras now.
No they don't. Otherwise they wouldn't behave like criminally active and socially unadapted dipshits in any given situation. They also wouldn't commit crime in areas with heavy surveillance. For them the camera is merely a toy which doesn't come with any repercussions.
Oof
is this the most quotable war movie?
