After watching all four pre-Nolan Batman films, this one is the best. Kilmer is the best Bruce Wayne after Adam West. Nicole Kidman looked great & Jim Carey did well as The Riddler.
This is better than Batman 89 & Returns

It’s better than Begins and TDKR too.
Out of all the Batman movies, this is the only Batman that is actually dynamic. Very first scene he’s dropping in on thugs, beating the shit out of them, flying around on that chain from the helicopter and doing tons of crazy stunts. While actually looking cool too.
Burton and Nolan Batman movies make him seem so stiff and immobile.

I rewatched the Joel Schumacher Batman movies last year, and while Batman Forever sucked in many ways:
>villains who have ridiculous goals (stealing IQ through TV??)
>some of the most primitive and hideous CG I've seen in a movie within the first 5 minutes
>too much time spent on Robin's origin story
...I was surprised to discover that Batman & Robin was redeemed somewhat by its themes:
>Mr. Freeze is doctor and scientist who's only willing to rob and kill so he can bring his sick wife back
>Poison Ivy is a resentful academic who decides to use her new powers to carry her ecological concerns towards absolutely genocidal ends
one causes crime only because he'll stop at nothing because of his compassion for a loved one, while the other is possessed by her ideology so completely she's willing to destroy all human life on Earth. it made for a better contrast of villains than "Forever"
that said, I think Burton's Batman is the best of those four
