They probably should have reinvented her sort of like how Chris Nolan reinvented Bane. I always thought they should make her way more distinct from batman, not like a "female batman" but her own character. For example, if they made her character a vampire with super strength, super speed, super healing, and the ability to transform into a bat to fly and hypnotize people and maybe use a sword or something, her character could in fact be more interesting than the original batman but in it's own way. Sort of like a mix between Morrigan Aensland from capcom and the original batgirl concept. She could have some weaknesses though, like sunlight, stake through the heart, crucifix, holy water, etc. If she were fighting in some side vampire stories and sometimes made an appearance when batman was injured or something it could be a great fill in, once in a while and they could give her some of the more challenging situations to deal with. Nobody wants "batman...but female", if you change the sex they should at least give the female versions RELATIVELY original characters, and background stories.

Why do retards, both fans and critics of Killing Joke, think Joker had sex with Batgirl after he shot her? He's only shown stripping her naked and taking photos before leaving the apartment. He actively kidnaps Gordon. Strips him naked. Parades him through a midway while circus freaks poke him with sticks. He shows him the photos of his daughter. You could just as well argue that Joker could have raped Jim, but no one argues that. They just argue that Barbara was raped. Both Gordons were sexually assaulted by the Joker, but there is no evidence of full on rape.
(Also, yes, I know people will now say this is why Gordon wants to rape Joker.)
