It's a gorgeous film that sounds great. The story isn't anything to write home about but that's not really what it was going for.

I can't make threads, but what did you guys think about it? What did you think the whole point of it was?

There are so many aspects of it that I can't stop thinking about. How all the self aware autistic poses between dialogues and characters posing like statues is sometimes broken, like miles almost behaving like a real human, only when he's with the pornographers, faster and longer dialogues. How all the other characters seem like NPCs who don't have this feeling of doom and fatigue around them. Somehow the autistic pacing really works in TV show format and to give you that sense of how disconnected from the world these characters are. Were they just depressed or supposed to be super heroes and villains, gods? Recurring nwr motifs like Viggo having own eye. Is he Odin? All the tarot and Aztec stuff, I'm sure there are jodo nods there. But I can never figure out who these characters are and why they react how they react, in some ways it seems really conscious, other times like he was just improvising and had no idea what he even wanted to say. I really wonder what the relationship with brubaker was he seems barely involved, the overall noir narrative being so thin and weirdly structured. I can't even imagine this is the same guy who made something raw and sincere and credible like pusher 2 and 3 when I'm watching him do this. The lighter tone and offbeat humor is really awkward, never really works but it does succeed at making you feel uncomfortable. The attempts at political messages are terrible but there is a unique depiction of America underneath it all. It feels so apocalyptic and absurd. His female worship thing however I think is apolitical and particularly hypocritical. Kondji and Martinez really brought their A game but I still wish he put more effort into his writing.
