Kurtzman is officially out. His departure was reported in rumors by Midnight's Edge and Nerdrotic, but the word is going out across CBS now. Before the merger he had a target on his back, now that the merger has happened he was under even more scrutiny and is now off the Star Trek property. Fuller is being courted to potentially return, otherwise CBS is also considering Paradise and Chabon to take the reins.
Some more fallout from this:
>STD S3 will be a short season of half-long episodes. It will be its last.
>Section 31 cancelled
>Picard is too far along to change, but if it performs above expectations for a Season 2, it will receive a creative shakeup to bring it more 'in line' with new expectations for the franchise.
>Short Treks production will cease permanently, the budget for the animated episodes ran way over. This season will be its last.
>Lower Decks and the new Nickelodeon series will be offically rebranded as 'non canon'
>Tarantino's movie is being rewritten again to bring it in line with the original Star Trek timeline, and not the reboots.
>It will be clarified that STD is not canon, and was part of an alternate 'prime' timeline, separate from the Kelvin timeline and the original timeline. Star Trek will follow the original timeline henceforth.
How do I know all this? My Dad works at Nintendo :)
