Western Kinos

What are some good Western kinos?

I ask this as a person who generally hates Westerns, especially if they were made before the 80's, but pic related is the most kino film/series I have ever seen. It's tied for my favorite with Das Boot, as I can't decide which is better. Which is better?

And by favorite, I mean favorite film, as Das Boot is not a Western, obviously.

True Grit (2010)
The Outlaw Josie Wales
The Proposition (technically a bushranger film but close enough)
These are a few personal favourites that immediately sprang to mind.

I prefer oatmeal.

Any conversation about the most kino westerns begins and ends at Heaven's Gate.

it doesn't get better than this

Its tasty, nutritious and keeps you regular. What's not to love?

Open Range for more Duvall kino w/ great shootout scene

Honest question, lads. Is there a scene more saddening and tear-inducing than the end of Lonesome Dove when Tommy Lee Jones has to take Duvall's body back to Texas and bury it and he breaks down crying? Give me a sadder scene.

Witchfinder General. Although not actually a western (is set in East Anglia circa 1650) it shares a lot of themes with some westerns.

Tombstone, if you're looking for something modern and you haven't already, watch this first. It's a great film, but you'll get a lot of contrarian pushback because it's so normie-tier, but if you "generally hate Westerns", you'll like it as baby's first -tier.

>The Proposition
This. It's a Western, whatever else it is in upside-down land.

Any other recommended non western westerns?

Unforgiven 100%

a great film, but hardly a "western for people who dont like westerns"

It shits on Westerns, so it's great for the people who hate Westerns.

It does shit on westerns (insofar as it gets down with Boomer deconstruction), but not in the sort of way a non-Western lover would find watchable. It's more for people who like Westerns but are bored / cynical with them. It's more like "baby's ultimate western before quitting them and re-discovering them years later" as opposed to "baby's first". I find Unforgiven to be a great film on it's merits, but _extremely_ edgy.

Gus, I'm with Jake now, you know that.

Yeah I do know that honey...

> watch Lonesome Dove
> no socially isolated lightly hued birds
literally fuck you

I have tried to watch Unforgiven about 10 times and just can't make it through, it's so boring and dumb. Maybe you might like it, OP.

>doves are all lightly-hued
no, fuck you
