Every post on /r/marvelstudios is from a Disney employee. It's sickening that they're able to get away with it but they have one of the biggest bot farms on Reddit.

Not going to argue that it seems worse on the surface, but many of those films were the only ones in the theaters for weeks on end. It's a difference in distribution as well. I live in Ohio/Tennessee and travel between both for work depending on the time of year, and there aren't even options to see any of the better films that come out most of the time. It's simply not available to me without several hours of driving. That's the case for anyone not in cities now, and from what I've heard from my family is that their theaters were showing what we now consider classics for sometimes up to half a year so everyone would end up seeing them multiple times. There are many factors to this, it's complex, but people have always been stupid, now we just have corporations spending billions to figure out the exact, specific way to market to that stupid crowd. It's shitty that it has become such a monopoly, but the number of people haven't increased is what I'm saying. They've all simply been herded to the same watering hole.

There's really not that much currently airing that's worth giving much of an afterthought when the manga is in most every way superior. Actual ORIGINAL SCRIPT anime is dead now. People have been hyping up things like Demon Slayer which is chock full of CGI shortcutting, and OPM season 2 was half the quality of season 1. There are a couple of decent noteworthy series, but overall it's pretty stagnant in terms of what actually gets animated, and then whether or not it's worth it over the source, which is almost never is.

This has been an issue since anime as a concept started, though. The only difference is that these days you're more likely to have read the source material because there are more retards pumping LNs and manga through google translate.

I don't think I've ever seen an adaptation that improved on the source material. I've seen a few that were distinct and better for it, but when you're taking something that requires X chapters/volumes and cutting it down to 12 episodes, you're going to lose a lot.

I'll laugh if Spider-Man gets rebooted again because that will be three reboots in one decade, and that is what effectively destroyed Batman in the 90s.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on Demon Slayer. It uses lots of CGI, but not in the same way most studios do. It's used for the dynamic backgrounds, the things in the foreground are almost always drawn normally. I can only think of 2-3 scenes where they actually used CGI character models and in one of them it actually looked alright. And we also got Mob Psycho and Dororo this year and Dr. Stone is shaping up to be pretty good. I also have some sliver of hope that Psycho-Pass won't suck but it probably will.

At the very least, go back 10 years or so and you'd get many, many more quality original script anime versus now. The market has fallen to the moe and escapism fanaticism and anything original gets squashed before it can even begin. People try to pretend that anime has somehow escaped the shit that a market demands, but it's just as bad as the western market. Take a quick browse through any given season's anime and you will see 75%+ being shit about little girls, and another 20% being isekai, some of those with overlap, then 5% that would interest anyone that isn't an actual pedo weeb.

I rewatched Demon Slayer with someone that got half caught up in it when I was several episodes in and there's a lot more CGI character models than you'd think, and tons of background work which I find equally annoying. Some of them look fine, but episodes in towns have tons of repeated textures making it look like a low budget game. Also, anytime there's a character shown from behind, there's a good chance it's touched up CGI. There's much, much more shortcutting than I initially thought and it brings me out of it.

Yes there are some interesting movies and series but 99% of it is just the same crap rehashed ten billion times.
